    Chris Brown Faces $2 Million Lawsuit Over Unpaid Popeyes Restaurant Loan, Reports Say

    Singer Chris Brown is currently entangled in a legal battle after being sued for allegedly failing to repay a $2 million loan obtained from City National Bank (CNB) to invest in two ‘Popeyes‘ chicken restaurant locations, per Hip Hop DX. 

    The lawsuit, which originated in Georgia but was filed in Los Angeles due to Brown’s residency, reveals that CNB provided the loan to Brown and other parties, including singer-songwriter The Dream, to acquire ownership in the fast-food establishments.

    Although Brown and The Dream are not personally involved in the day-to-day operations of the restaurants, they are part of an investment group associated with the purchase. CNB states that the loan was granted in 2018 and attempts to collect repayment were made in subsequent years. As of February 17, 2023, the outstanding principal and interest on the loan amount to $2,140,901.74, according to the bank.

    The bank emphasizes that Brown is personally liable for the loan as a guarantor. Unfortunately for Brown, the bank has already secured a judgment in their favor in a Georgia court, making the Los Angeles case an effort to enforce the previously won lawsuit. Specifically, CNB claims that Brown is responsible for $1,314,367.40.

    It is important to note that the success of the ‘Popeyes’ restaurants remains uncertain, but CNB is determined to recover its loan. It is worth mentioning that Chris Brown already owns fourteen Burger King restaurants in Virginia, his home state. With an estimated net worth ranging from $50 million to $150 million, Brown’s financial situation may not be severely impacted by this lawsuit.

    The Dream, who is also involved in the investment, may face a similar situation, although it is unclear if the bank intends to pursue legal action against him. Should Brown decide not to settle the debt, he will likely face a protracted legal battle ahead.

    President Biden mistakenly mispronounced LL Cool J‘s name and shortly after referred to him as

    “boy”

    during his speech at the Congressional Black Caucus on Saturday night, reports the NY Post. 

    LL Cool J, whose real name is James Todd Smith, along with MC Lyte, was honored with the Phoenix Award for their significant musical contributions at the annual awards dinner in Washington, D.C. during the CBC’s 52nd Annual Legislative Conference.

    “Two of the great artists of our time representing the groundbreaking legacy of hip hop in America, LL Jay Cool J, uhhh…”

    he said as the crowd laughed at his mistake.

    “By the way that boy — that man’s got biceps bigger than my thighs,”

    Biden added. Ignoring his mistake, he immediately went on to acknowledge MC Lyte while the audience applauded.

    As reported by The Post, the president has a track record of using the term

    “boy”

    to refer to African Americans, which is widely recognized as a racial slur when used to describe black men. Earlier this year, Biden used this word when mentioning Wes Moore, the first black governor of Maryland. Additionally, the president has previously faced criticism during his campaign for using the same term to describe his ability to collaborate with segregationist senators, which sparked controversy.

    Senator Cory Booker, a Democrat from New Jersey who was also running for president against Biden, expressed his disapproval of Biden’s actions in a statement.

    “You don’t joke about calling black men ‘boys’,” he said.

    Despite the disturbing nature of this news, it seems that T.I.’s son, King, has chosen to promote the challenge further. In a video shared by King himself, he can be seen encouraging a homeless man to take on the ‘one-chip challenge’ in exchange for $50. 

    In the video, King specifies that the man will only receive the money under the condition that he wait five minutes after swallowing the chip before drinking any water. This viral video has ignited significant criticism of King on various online platforms. 

    “I just think it’s so f—ed up to antagonize homeless people like wtf do you get out that you know they need money but u make them jump through hoops it’s soo foul I hate this world,”

    According to the US Attorney’s Office for Massachusetts, Instagram influencer Danielle Miller, 32, has been sentenced to a five-year prison term for committing fraud, per Insider. 

    Miller was found guilty of unlawfully acquiring

    “pandemic-related loans”

    and using the funds to support her lavish lifestyle. She reportedly utilized the personal information of more than 10 individuals, generating over $1 million in COVID loans from July 2020 to May 2021. To carry out her scheme, Miller employed forged driver’s licenses, featuring her own picture but bearing the names of her victims.

    “Ms. Miller isn’t an influencer, she is a convicted felon,”

    Acting United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy said in the statement.

    “In a quest for fleeting social media stardom, Ms. Miller relied on fraud to fund a lavish lifestyle of private jets, luxury apartments, and other accouterments of wealth.”

    Levy emphasized that the sentencing must serve as a clear message that building an elite social media persona at the expense of 

    “hardworking taxpayers”

    is a

    “path to prison, not fleeting fame.”

    Miller’s Instagram following includes Anna Sorokin, a convicted fraudster who posed as a wealthy heiress to gain entry into elite New York social circles. In a previous interview, Miller admitted to being a “con artist” with a charm that allows her to manipulate people. 

    She was arrested in May 2021 and later pleaded guilty to charges of identity theft and wire fraud. District Court Chief Judge F. Dennis Saylor IV recently sentenced Miller to five years in prison, and three years of supervised release, and ordered her to pay restitution. Additionally, she was forced to surrender several luxury items she fraudulently obtained, and over $600,000 from her residence and bank accounts was seized by the US government.

Allegedly, he disclosed having a conversation with Wintour herself before Styles graced the magazine cover. Porter claimed that Wintour sought his insights on how Vogue could contribute to this groundbreaking era of fashion he spearheaded.

According to recently police documents obtained by OK Magazine, Zolciak called 911 after Biermann locked her out of their Georgia mansion.     The documents reveal that Zolciak made the call around 11:50 p.m. on Friday, August 25, reporting a

    “domestic disturbance”

    at her home. The police report states that Zolciak claimed her husband had locked her out and that they were arguing. She also alleged that Biermann had threatened her.

    To gain access to the house, Zolciak had a locksmith drill into the door. Authorities arrived at the property around 1 a.m. the following day. The log further noted that Biermann had placed a pillow outside the door, preventing Zolciak from entering.

    Biermann had filed for divorce for the second time on August 24, but Zolciak received the documents the next day and has not yet filed a response.

    This drama between the estranged couple has been ongoing since May when they initially filed for divorce. Despite the tension and even police involvement, Zolciak and Biermann reconciled for a period of time before this latest turn of events.

    It looks like Travis Scott’s scheduled performance at Egypt‘s Giza pyramids will not be canceled after all, according to Dailymail. The rapper, whose concert was set for July 28th at the famed Giza pyramids was reportedly banned by Egypt’s musicians’ union due to his music going against Egyptian

    “tradition.” 

    However, according to Live Nation, the planned concert is still in effect.

    “There have been no changes to Travis Scott’s show in Egypt,”

    the touring company announced in a statement to Billboard.

    “Any reports to the contrary are false. We can’t wait to celebrate Utopia with you in Egypt!” 

    The news comes after Dr. Mohamed Abdullah of The Egyptian Syndicate of Musical Professions told Egypt Today that the concert was canceled.

    “Regarding the concert scheduled to be held on 28th July at the Pyramids area in Giza by American rapper Travis Scott, the Musicians Syndicate, as the entity responsible for issuing licenses for music and singing concerts in Egypt, in coordination with the Egyptian Ministry of Culture represented by the Censorship Authority for Artistic Works and the Ministry of Labor, emphasizes the necessity of considering security aspects and obtaining approvals from the relevant authorities as a top priority when organizing concerts. This is to ensure the safety and protection of the audience,”

    he explained. 

    Dr. Mohamed Abdullah decided to suspend the show,

    “after examining the opinions expressed on social networks and the positions of the artist, the union has found images and documented information about the strange rituals he performs which go against our traditions”,

    continues the text. Scott’s Road to ‘Utopia’ concert is to promote the rapper’s fourth studio album. However, concerns still surround the artist after his Astroworld music festival that left 10 dead following a crowd surge.

    “Defendant is a disgraced reality TV star who was fired by Plaintiff after his company discovered that the Defendant had used racial epithets to attack Black teenage Black Lives Matter Activists,”

    according to the reported court documents.

    “Plaintiff’s investigation into the allegations of racial epithets also uncovered illegal activity,”

    the suit reportedly states, adding that Chapman

    “resorts to tired homophobic tropes, calling one of the openly gay Plaintiff ‘daddy’ in a mocking manner and making a vile and disgusting implication using the words ‘little boys’ and ‘daddy’ together.”
