Seven Children Found In Squalid Conditions Inside U-Haul, Two Men Arrested For Child Endangerment

Authorities in Missouri have arrested two men, Shaikiem Bristol, 31, and Musa Omar, 22, after a shocking discovery of seven children in the back of a U-Haul truck during a traffic stop on I-44 in Webster County.

The children, aged between two and 13, were found alongside five adults in the truck’s cargo area, which lacked air conditioning and ventilation WLBT reports.

The group was reportedly traveling from Arizona to New York when the Missouri State Highway Patrol intervened.

Troopers were suspicious after noticing discrepancies in the stories provided by Bristol and Omar, leading to a search of the U-Haul.

Inside, officers found a distressing scene with the children in visibly poor conditions—overheated, with dirty diapers, and limited access to air. Bristol claimed he was aware of the dangerous heat in the truck and said they had tried to stop frequently to cool off the children.

Both men were charged with seven counts of first-degree child endangerment. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have been involved, raising concerns about potential human trafficking or immigration violations.

The children are now in the custody of the Department of Family Services while investigations continue.

  • NYC Driver Crashes U-Haul Van After Finding Live Snake Under His Seat, ‘I Freaked Out’

NYC Driver Crashes U-Haul Van After Finding Live Snake Under His Seat, ‘I Freaked Out’

A New York resident crashed a U-Haul van in Manhattan after finding a live snake under his seat, per the NY Post. Jared was on his way back to his apartment in Brooklyn with his roommate after purchasing a sofa from Facebook Marketplace when he suddenly spotted the reptile.

Initially mistaking the snake for a large

    “toy,”

Jared reached down to pick it up and realized it was alive.

“Maybe someone left their toy snake in the car? So I reached down to pick it up, like what’s this?”

    Jared told the outlet.

“It was warm and heavy. Then it turned its head and looked at me,”

    he added.

Frightened by their discovery, Jared and his roommate panicked and started yelling,

    “Oh, f–k,”

    he said.

“There wasn’t a lot of coherent thought at this point. I hate snakes. I freaked out. I took my foot off the brake and crashed into the car in front of us,”

    Jared said.

The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon at the intersection of Canal Street and Broadway.

“I put the car in park, and we had our feet up on the seat. At first, I thought to chuck it out of the window, to get it out of the car, but then I realized we were in Manhattan, there is nowhere for me to really put it. There are pedestrians everywhere,”

    he recalled.

At first two female officers arrived at the scene but

“didn’t want anything to do with”

the snake, Jared said. Animal control officers were called to the scene and they had to search the van in order to locate the snake. After locating the reptile, they placed it in a large, white bag before removing it from the vehicle.

“U-Hauls are used for many things. I would have no clue how the snake got there. Obviously, I’m surprised,”

a U-Haul employee told The Post.
