A 19-year-old was fatally stabbed Thursday night in Queens and was found bleeding and unconscious on a roof in Flushing. First responders arrived after police received reports of an assault around 6:15 p.m. near a home between 35th and 37th Avenue and 93rd Street. They discovered Jayson Fernandez suffering from stab wounds to his abdomen, according to police and sources, reports the New York Post.

The victim was in a fight with the unnamed male attacker wearing a hoodie before he got stabbed. After being knifed, Fernandez climbed onto the roof of a garage on the property. When the officials arrived, they discovered him passed out on the roof.

Fernandez was taken to Elmhurst Hospital in critical condition but later passed away, police reported. The spot where he was stabbed is known for drug activity, and sources say he was linked to the Trinitarios, a Dominican American gang started in the city. No arrests have been made so far and the investigation is ongoing.
