Last Wednesday, Johnny James, 41, and Kayla Clark, 42, were sentenced to terms the court deemed appropriate for their crimes. According to Oklahoma state law, the duo deserved their 35- —and 30-year sentences, with James receiving the highest sentence.

Fox 23 claims they were found guilty of child abuse and neglect charges relating to a minor. The same outlet reported that these two convicts will not be given an opportunity for release or parole until they complete 85 percent of their years behind bars.

The recent sentencing comes nearly a year after the authorities were alerted to James’ property where he lived with his girlfriend. An eyewitness had reported seeing a teenager strapped to a tree.

The witness explained that the girl’s condition was critical while establishing that she had been there for days. On top of that, James’ 15-year-old daughter had also sustained injuries on her arms and legs.

Upon arrival, the police noticed the 15-year-old sitting outside on a carpet. During investigations, police confirmed that the child had been tied for about 24 hours. The authorities rushed her to a nearby hospital for treatment immediately.

Per People, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office stated via a press release that Johnny James and Kayla Clark had been away visiting relatives in Vera. This was where they were apprehended. The abusive father did not deny the allegations, instead, he tried to excuse his behavior by blaming his child’s lack of hygiene.

The convict explained that his teenager often messed up the house by carelessly urinating and defecating inside. As for Clark, her excuse was that she was unaware of her boyfriend’s mistreatment of the teenager.
