In a strange and costly burglary at Sole Bros in downtown Cincinnati, thieves stole approximately 100 right-footed shoes and other items, leaving the store with an estimated $45,000 in losses.
Store owner Hunter Emigh was alerted by his security system early on October 8 but arrived just minutes after the culprits fled.
“I woke up, rushed over (to the store),” Emigh told WCPO.
“Ironically, (I) had just missed them by 17 to 19 minutes, roughly. They had just left the shop.”
The thieves took a mix of clothing and a dozen full pairs of shoes, but their odd decision to grab only the right shoe from most pairs ended up making much of the remaining inventory unsellable.
“It was demoralizing,” Emigh shared in an interview.
Sole Bros 513, a boutique known for its specialty sneakers and streetwear, is a staple in the downtown Cincinnati shopping scene, and the theft has disrupted both sales and customer service.
Cincinnati police are investigating the break-in and have released surveillance footage in hopes of identifying the three suspects involved.
Authorities are asking for anyone with information to come forward and have offered rewards through Crime Stoppers for tips leading to arrests.
