Meanwhile, Braxton attempted to end their marriage shortly after they tied the knot. However, they remained together months after the attempt. Nevertheless, their status as a couple is unclear, considering their actions on social media.

News broke out this week that Toni Braxton and Birdman “very secretly” tied the knot last year. TMZ obtained documents that proved the couple said “I do” on August 8, 2024. The outlet obtained divorce papers, which revealed even more surprising information. After their covert wedding, the Un-Break My Heart singer filed for divorce just two weeks later. In her filing, Toni Braxton claimed her and Birdman’s marriage was “irretrievably broken.”

Braxton listed their separation date as August 10—two days after their wedding—which means trouble began early in paradise. However, the couple seems to have worked out their problems. The He Wasn’t Man Enough singer dismissed the divorce petition in January 2025, and Birdman signed off on it. This means Toni Braxton and Birdman are still legally married, although the health of their union is in doubt. The duo has scrubbed each other off their social media feeds. Braxton has also not been seen with her wedding ring.

Braxton and Birdman’s Relationship History

Toni Braxton and Birdman have been friends for over 20 years and lovers for almost a decade. They started their on-again-off-again relationship in May 2016 during Braxton’s battle with Lupus. The Stuntin’ Like My Daddy rapper proposed to her in early 2018 with a massive $1 million ring. Shortly after the engagement, Toni Braxton spoke about her and Birdman’s friendship. She told PEOPLE she never expected it to grow into a relationship and “never thought we would be dating or getting married.”

However, the singer and Birdman broke up a year later and announced they would no longer wed. They cleaned out their Instagram accounts of all reminders of the other person and unfollowed each other. However, they sparked reconciliation rumors a few weeks later. The Cash Money Records executive came onstage to surprise Braxton during a tour stop at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta.

The record executive has two children, son Bryan Williams Jr., 28, and daughter Bria, 27, from a previous relationship with a woman named Tia. Braxton shares two sons, Denim Braxton-Lewis, 23, and Diezel Braxton-Lewis, 22, with her ex-husband, Keri Lewis. The couple was married from 2001 to 2013.
