A Florida man who was in a coma for 244 days after being hit by a car in 2017, was recently killed in a traffic accident.
Drew Kohn, 29, was struck by a pickup truck in Jacksonville, Florida, on Friday, July 26, according to his mother, Yolanda Osborne-Kohn, PEOPLE reports.
This tragic incident occurred more than six years after he emerged from his coma following a collision between his motorcycle and a vehicle.
Kohn was on his way to a gym back in 2017, when his bike collided with a car, leaving him unconscious. He sustained a traumatic brain injury, a broken shoulder, impaled lungs, and other injuries, resulting in a coma.
Almost a year after the accident, in March 2018, he woke up from his coma and told his mother, “I love you, Mom.” He then gradually recovered, defying the odds against him.
Unfortunately, on July 26, 2024, Kohn was walking on a road and was hit by a Ford pickup truck. The driver reportedly did not see him due to the dark conditions and the fact that Kohn was not wearing reflective clothing.
Kohn was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following her son’s death, his mother expressed her belief that Kohn is now healed and at peace. A fundraiser has been created to assist Kohn’s family with his funeral expenses, and it has already raised $8,000.
