Travis and Alabama Barker may be close, but the musician certainly knows how to put his foot down and keep his family safe. Recently, netizens saw in a livestream video that Alabama brought a bunch of strange men into the house. However, Travis refused to let them stay and sent the group to the porch. The livestream eventually sparked backlash, but it wasn’t because of Travis’ action. Rather, fans were appalled to see Alabama set her black friends up for trouble when she suggested a dangerous game.
Travis Barker Sends Alabama’s Friends Out Of His Home
Travis Barker had no choice but to send Alabama’s friends and Jay Cinco to the front porch during game night. In a video posted on Onsite’s Instagram page, Alabama told her friends, “You guys, the house is off-limits. Only outside.” The camera panned to show a bunch of black men inside the house.
The 19-year-old singer had invited the men to stream with hip-hop artist Jay Cinco. However, Travis Barker understandably wanted them to stay outside. He graciously offered them the use of his front porch, and Alabama and the guys moved there.
Alabama Stirs Backlash From Netizens
Alabama would later come under severe backlash regarding the livestream, but it wasn’t because of Travis Barker’s stance. The musician, who is no stranger to controversy, was criticized for her lack of awareness of social and racial dynamics. The backlash came after netizens watched the rapper set up her friends for trouble. After Travis Barker sent the group out, Alabama and her friends played some games on the live stream. One of the challenges caught people’s attention.
At some point, the social media influencer picked up a card. The instruction was for her to “choose a player to ding-dong ditch, but they have to kick the door hard as f**k.” However, none of her friends took up the challenge, considering they were in a wealthy neighborhood. Someone told Alabama, “In this neighborhood, bro, we can get arrested. Attempted burglary, like… We Black, it ain’t gon’ look good. That’s the problems that we be going through. This s**t real out here, you feel me?”
However, Alabama made light of her friends’ concerns, saying they were “thinking way too deep into it.” She also complained that they were “boring.” For context, Alabama and Travis Barker live in one of the wealthiest communities in Calabasas. The Southern California city is one of the richest in America, with a median household income of $136,138. She is also a step-daughter of one of the Kardashian sisters, Kourtney.
Netizens React To Alabama Barker’s Prank And Attitude
After a clip of Alabama Barker and her friends got on the internet, netizens had some steam for her but not Travis. Many thought that the Blink-182 drummer did the right thing and that Alabama had no danger sense. An Instagram user commented, “Her privileged life has afforded her the lack of safety awareness.” A second person said, “Cause this looks like the intro to a PHub video.. he’s absolutely right .. get them boys out his house and if she wanna play grown move into her own spot .. this is craziness.”
Several others criticized her for having black friends but not learning the context within which they operate. Someone commented, “She setting them boys up to get locked up … black men ding ding ditching in calabassas ?…she don’t even realize her white privileged.” A second person remarked, “Perfect example of thinking being black is a gimmick! Smh the audacity…to use the culture for clout and not be “culturally aware” is no longer excuse.”
Travis and Alabama Barker’s divergent reactions to the situation reflect their different awareness levels. Hopefully, Alabama will be more careful about letting strangers into her home. With luck, she will also appreciate racial and social dynamics, especially since she often hangs around black people.
