Contrary to popular belief, Trinity Rodman and Dennis Rodman don’t have a great father-daughter relationship. The soccer player revealed this during a Call Her Daddy Podcast episode with Alex Cooper. During their conversation, Trinity told her host that Dennis is no father figure and she is only connected to him by blood. This negated many people’s picture of their relationship, especially when she was spotted crying into his shoulders after a game in 2021.

Trinity Rodman Says Dennis Rodman Is Only “Dad by Blood“

During a podcast with Alex Cooper, Trinity Rodman discussed her relationship with her dad. Trinity, her brother, Dennis “DJ” Rodman, and her mom, Michelle Moyer, had always avoided questions about Dennis. However, the Olympic medalist ended the years of silence when she told Cooper on the December 18 episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast that Dennis was an absent dad.

“He’s not a dad,” she said. “Maybe by blood, but nothing else.” “Me and my brother have been very generous with the way that we’ve talked about it and very unselfish,” Trinity continued. “We never want to make him look bad, and that is at the cost of holding in a lot of issues that we’ve gone through and trauma.”

The 22-year-old athlete also confessed that she had always tried to drop hints in interviews about her dad’s absence and that she didn’t know his whereabouts.

Trinity Rodman Lived in a Car

Trinity Rodman and Dennis Rodman didn’t live together for most of the former’s life. Dennis and Moyer divorced in 2004, but their divorce was not finalized until 2012. Trinity disclosed that her dad’s connection with his family worsened after that, and he rarely made contact. The children and their mom tried to live with the former NBA superstar, but his living conditions made that impossible.

“We tried to live with him, but he’s having parties 24/7,” she said. He’s bringing random b–ches in.”

Eventually, Trinity, her brother, and her mom moved out but had to live in a car for some time. Trinity also revealed that their mom tried to make “every situation seem smoother than it actually was,” adding, “That’s what parents do to protect their children.” That perhaps explains her frustration with her dad’s inability to overcome his “demons.”

“I do believe that he wishes that he could fight his demons,” she said. “I roll my eyes because you hear something so many times, but he does nothing to change it.”

Trinity Rodman Explains Her and Viral Dennis Rodman Moment

Trinity Rodman also explained what happened between her and Dennis Rodman. She revealed that the moment, which the media wrongly misconstrued as heartwarming between father and daughter, was not what it looked like. The athlete was referring to a 2021 incident in which Dennis attended the National Women’s Soccer League semi-finals, and she bawled while hugging him. She corrected the notion that she cried happy tears that day and stated they were angry tears instead.

Trinity confirmed that her dad’s appearance at the game made her uncomfortable. She disclosed that she was “halfway through the first half” when she heard his voice.

“Going into my rookie year, going into a quarterfinal, I’m already s–tting my pants as it is,” she recalled. “I’m stressed, like, ‘Oh my gosh, we have to win.’ I hear him go, ‘Let’s go, Rodman, let’s go, Trinity.’ “I’m like, ‘Oh my f–king gosh,” she said. Like, there’s no way this is happening right now. Mind you, I haven’t seen him or talked to him in months.”

Trinity Rodman Says Dennis Rodman Craved Attention

Despite her dad’s presence at the game, Trinity’s team won, but she cried in the locker room afterward. She then marched to where he was following the incident in anger. However, she decided to make the best of it and hugged him, crying. The gold medal winner recalled that her dad had promised to keep in touch, but she didn’t see him again until three years later, in 2024.

“He was like, ‘I want to see you soon, I’m in D.C.,'” she recalled. “I didn’t see him until this year.”

Trinity claimed that Dennis only attended the game to satisfy his lust for the media and the public’s attention. She confessed that she lost hope after the incident. However, she acknowledged Dennis’ troubles with those who tried to exploit him for his money.

“He was surrounded by a lot of toxic people,” Trinity said.

She added that his alcohol use also left him “brainwashed” and unable to control anything. She also expressed regret that Dennis never leaned on his family, who wanted to support him without ulterior motives.

Trinity Rodman and Dennis Rodman’s problems highlight troubling issues between parents and children and the root causes. Thankfully, it is not too late for the former NBA star to repair his bond with his kids. Hopefully, Trinity Rodman and Dennis Rodman will be able to heal through the years of trauma and pain and become a real father-daughter duo.
