Two women have been engaged in a controversy involving Spirit Airlines due to their crop top dressing. The airline had asked them to cover up but they refused, leading them to be booted off the plane. Two friends named Tara Kehidi and Teresa Araujo from South Carolina scheduled a trip to New Orleans from Los Angeles. However, before take-off, the women stripped down to crop tops. Earlier on, the pair dressed in sweaters, but due to the heat and poor air conditioning, they chose to undress a little.

Fashion Controversy: Women Removed from Spirit Airlines Over Crop Tops

When speaking to KABC, the women claimed that only a little skin was visible. However, a male flight attendant asked them to cover up. Amid the request, the women believed they were being mistreated. They asked the attendant to provide a dress code issued by the airline while establishing that they were hot.

The crop top issue soon led to a controversy as neither the women nor Spirit Airlines intended to give in. Meanwhile, other passengers on board fixed their gaze on the women who were embarrassed that they were treated as criminals.

Eventually, the women were sent off the flight, causing them to pay for a different airline. Following the incident, a rep for the airline told USA Today that the matter was under investigation. The airline rep, however, emphasized that their Contract of Carriage requests standard clothing from guests. Although there are no specific pieces of clothing mentioned, passengers must not appear inappropriately dressed. According to the contract, such a guest risks being sent off the plane without a refund.
