Last week, two men were apprehended after their roommate reported being kidnapped and having a finger amputated. Fortunately, he managed to escape after two days of being held against his will, police said, according to Fox News. The victim informed officials that
“his four roommates”
abducted him.
Denver officials got a tip about the incident and performed a welfare check at the place where the victim was held on Oct. 16.
Officials
“investigated to the extent they were able without having full consent or sufficient evidence of a crime to support requesting a search warrant,”
per a police statement. The victim informed investigators that the suspects left the location after the welfare check, allowing him to escape a few hours later.
On Oct. 18, investigators apprehended two of the unnamed victim’s roommates, Jose Pineda-Moreno, 19, and Darwin Veliz-Gonzalez, 34, charging them with first-degree kidnapping, assault, and criminal extortion.
Officials are attempting to identify the other two suspects. They are also analyzing if the attack was gang-related but believe it wan’t.
