Two people have been arrested after their motive to join Palisades firefighters was uncovered. The individuals succeeded in lying to the officials due to their dedication to impersonating certified firefighters with a truck that was reportedly bought at an auction.

The U.S. was plagued by a fire which started two weeks ago. Since its inception, the deadly fire has spread to different parts of Los Angeles, displacing properties. However, authorities including the firefighters have consistently tried to mitigate the effect of the fiery furnace.

To combat the situation, firefighters from all over including different counties, states, and even from Mexico have entered Palisades. During this period, two mischievous individuals allegedly journeyed from Oregon to join the first responders team.

Per the NY Post, the duo named Dustin and Jennifer Nehl equipped themselves as firefighters. They dressed in fire gear, and helmets, while also carrying radios for communication. While patrolling, the Los Angeles Police Department spotted a fire truck that looked different.

However, when questioned, the intruders claimed to be from the Roaring River Fire Department in Oregon. But the officials in charge couldn’t verify their department, leading them to believe that it never existed.

These impersonators were immediately led off in handcuffs while their vehicle was seized. For now, very little detail is known about how they entered the city. In less than 24 hours, the case will land in the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

So far, they have been accused of impersonation and entering into an area that was being evacuated. However, the police revealed that Dustin was not a first-time offender. The 31-year-old was formerly accused of criminal mischief and arson.
