Two Women Without Shoes Ran Away From Crash That Killed 56-Year-Old Pedestrian

Two women reportedly ran away after a crash in Queens early Tuesday that resulted in the death of 56-year-old David Opiela, per PIX11.

The accident occurred around 12:30 a.m. when a 42-year-old man’s Honda slammed into a U-Haul on Kissena Boulevard, officials said. Footage showed the U-Haul driver running the red light. Opiela was hit during the crash while attempting to cross the street, according to police. It’s unclear which vehicle was responsible for the collision. Sadly, Opiela was declared deceased at the scene.

According to officials, two women in the U-Haul reportedly left the scene without shoes, running westbound on the Horace Harding Expressway, reports say.

Officials are still seeking the women.
