A single mom in Indianapolis who was leaving work, called an Uber for a ride home but didn’t make it safely after the driver allegedly raped and murdered her.
On Tuesday morning, 29-year-old Francisco Valadez was arrested and preliminarily charged with murder for the gruesome killing of 30-year-old Chanti Dixon in the back of his BMW, Fox 59 reports.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), Valadez admitted to killing Dixon by shooting her in the left side of her head in a “fit of rage.” He then dumped her body near her home in a wooded area and proceeded to try to have sex with her naked corpse.
“This is just disgusting all around and it did not have to happen,” said Indianapolis Metro police chief Chris Bailey.
“Mr. Valadez told two different stories as to what happened with Ms. Dixon,” police wrote in the court documents.
Dixon’s parents notified authorities when she didn’t come home from her 3:30 a.m. work shift. Her family tracked her phone to a wooded area near her house, where they discovered her lifeless body and called police.
Based on what was disclosed through Uber, police were able to track down Valadez who first told a cockamamie story about a Black man shooting Dixon.
“[Valadez] added that the suspect shot [Dixon] in the thigh and that she kicked herself out of his car and he fled the scene,” police wrote. “He also said that he had cleaned the blood out of his car.”
“This is disgusting, it’s disturbing,” IMPD Chief Chris Bailey said during the conference. “No one deserves to be treated this way in our community and I am so sorry to her family that we’re here today.”
Uber released a message saying: “Our hearts break for Ms. Dixon’s family and loved ones in the midst of this tragedy,” Uber said.
Prayers for the Dixon family.
