Valeria Marquez, a 23-year-old beauty influencer and aesthetician with over 110,000 TikTok followers, was fatally shot during a livestream from her salon, Blossom the Beauty Lounge, in Jalisco.

Video footage captured her final moments, showing her smiling before gunfire struck her chest and head. According to Infobae, a gunman entered the salon and fled on a motorbike after the attack.

Authorities are investigating, and an autopsy is underway. Valeria Marquez’s murder underscores the escalating violence against women in Mexico, where femicide and brutal assaults remain rampant.

Just days earlier, Yesenia Lara Gutierrez, a mayoral candidate from President Claudia Sheinbaum’s Morena party, was killed alongside her daughter and three supporters during a campaign event in Veracruz.

The Reforma newspaper reported that the ambush was captured on a Facebook livestream as gunshots sent people fleeing in panic.

Governor Rocio Nahle confirmed the deaths and called the attack “terrorism.” Sheinbaum condemned the violence and pledged federal support for the investigation. Gutierrez’s assassination marked the second political killing in Veracruz this election season.

With over 50 candidates having requested state protection, concerns are mounting ahead of the June 1 elections. The attorney general’s office in Veracruz has launched a full investigation into the attacks.
