A vegan bakery on Long Island recalled some baked goods. This came after they were accused of attempting to sell a Dunkin’ doughnut as their own. The owner was called out by a local vegan grocer.

“In February I sold a vendor nearly $800 worth of my products and somehow they claimed that a Dunkin’ Donuts was mixed in with the order… I adamantly stand by that I would never pass off a Dunkin donut as either gluten-free or vegan,”

the owner of the vegan bakery, Michell Siriani, told News12 Long Island.

Two months after CindySnacks, a former vegan grocer, alleged they received a doughnut with sprinkles from Dunkin’ in their order, Siriani finally responded to the accusation.

“On February 23rd the owner of Savory Fig dropped off the baked goods we ordered from her, including her donuts,”

CindySnacks, a user on Instagram wrote in a caption underneath the picture of what they believed to be a Dunkin’ pastry.

CindySnacks shared a picture of a strawberry frosted doughnut with purple and orange “D’s” that resembled Dunkin’ Donuts’ sprinkles, which contain dairy and gluten.

“I immediately became concerned as to why this one donut was decorated differently than all the others and in such a strikingly similar way to a recognizable chain,”

Jonathan Stengel, the co-owner of CindySnacks went on to say.

Stengel expressed concern that if the doughnuts were from Dunkin’ Donuts, they could be harmful to customers with dairy allergies.

Siriani replied that the doughnut was not from Dunkin’. Stengel and Cindy Kay purchased an EZ Gluten home-testing kit for the donut. The test indicated a “high positive” outcome for gluten.

Following the allegations, Siriani said she faced threats and harassment, leading her to change her contact number and move. She has now revealed that her business is collaborating with the Department of Agriculture.
