Wendy Williams’ lawyer, who is representing the former onscreen host in her lawsuit against A&E—the production company in charge of the documentary “Where Is Wendy Williams?”, is making new claims. However, this time, it isn’t based on the case but on her client’s health. This comes on the heels of a rather interesting conversation between Williams and the hosts of The Breakfast Club.
Wendy Willams’ Lawyer Gets Candid About Her Health
Per TMZ, Roberta Kaplan, Williams’ lawyer, tells the world precisely why her client has been shielded away from financial and legal responsibilities. The attorney maintained that the onscreen star is suffering from frontal lobe dementia. This neurological disease is without cure, and she might have to remain under medical observation for the rest of her life.
Amid this diagnosis, Kaplan emphasizes that there is a silver lining. According to her, Williams hasn’t been confined to a mostly incoherent life—as there are good and bad days. This means that she is likely to act and sound perfectly fit even in her state.
This explanation by the lawyer clarifies Williams’ recent interview-like call on Thursday morning.
Wendy Williams’ Claims Over The Phone
The former onscreen maven did not mince her words when she and her niece, Alex, called in on “The Breakfast Club.” After ranting about how her celebrity aunt is being treated and being kept away from her family, Alex maintained that she is in a luxury prison.
To buttress this point, Williams admitted to feeling imprisoned and having a life that felt “f-cked up.” This wouldn’t seem far from the truth as the former show host has had to make huge changes. Apart from stripping her of financial and legal duties, she admitted to being away from her family most often. On top of that, she has been restricted from getting or making calls to them. Thus, those surrounding her include the healthcare workers tasked with catering to her medical needs.
Since the diagnosis, she has been under constant watch and conservatorship. During the call, the fans’ favorite complained about this arrangement, while throwing jabs at Sabrina Morrissey, her conservator.
Alex Spills More Tea
Alex further told the show’s host that Williams is not impaired. Thus, she is not incapable of making decisions. According to Williams’ niece, she advocates for better treatment for TV stars. To move her motion further, Alex called for fans to rake in support by trending the #FreeWendy.
While it may be safe to say that Williams isn’t all that bad according to her lawyer’s verdict, Kaplan touts that her client cannot be entirely independent in decision-making. Williams’ enthusiasm and ability to process information fluctuate according to her claims.
Meanwhile, since the claims on air, nobody from Williams’ camp has made any revelations concerning the situation. As for Morrissey, her conservator, she is keeping mute due to a guardianship court order. This order prevents her from spilling information about her client’s condition or answering rumors. As for now, fans can only hope for more better days for Williams as she sails through dementia.
