A controversial incident involving alleged racial profiling in an upscale Ohio neighborhood has gained significant attention online. A woman was recorded on a ring camera accusing real estate developer, Mike Jenkins, of trespassing at his own home. She has since taken to social media to defend her behavior.
The situation went viral after Jenkins’ home security footage captured the exchange between him and his neighbor, sparking discussions about racial profiling and neighborly interactions. The woman, identified as Michelle Bishop, was reportedly jogging with her two small children when she encountered Jenkins. She claimed to have felt threatened by a vehicle that was approaching them slowly, prompting her to run towards the nearest house, which happened to be Jenkins’ home.
When Jenkins arrived and introduced himself as the homeowner, Bishop responded with skepticism, saying,
“I don’t believe that,”
before leaving the property with her children. Later she is seen running down the street crying out for
“help.”
Following the video’s viral spread, Bishop faced significant backlash online, with many accusing her of racial profiling. In an emotional outburst, she insisted she wouldn’t apologize for any racist claims and that her only concern was for her children’s safety, stating,
“I am the furthest thing from racist.”
Bishop also mentioned that she couldn’t see Jenkins’ race at the time because it was dark. Jenkins later took to his Instagram to discuss the incident, expressing how calm he remained throughout. He shared his pride in managing the situation with composure, noting that it would have been easy to react with anger.
