A gastrointestinal illness outbreak has affected nearly 100 individuals aboard Royal #Caribbean International’s Radiance of the Seas during its recent voyage.
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 89 out of 2,164 passengers (approximately 4.1%) and 2 out of 910 crew members reported symptoms such as diarrhea and vomiting.
The voyage commenced from #Tampa, #Florida, on February 1, 2025, and the outbreak was reported to the CDC on February 4. The exact cause of the illness remains undetermined.
In response to the outbreak, #RoyalCaribbean implemented enhanced cleaning and disinfection procedures in line with their outbreak prevention and response plan. The cruise line also collected stool specimens from affected individuals for testing and isolated ill passengers and crew to prevent further spread.
This incident marks the sixth gastrointestinal illness outbreak on a cruise ship in 2025, with norovirus identified in two previous cases.
#Clique, is there any safe way to travel these days? Are you going by plane or ship?
