A man in Wisconsin, 38-year-old David Hamlet, has been sentenced to 25 years behind bars for sexually assaulting and getting a 14-year-old girl pregnant. The Rock County District Attorney’s Office reported that Hamlet started residing with the unnamed girl’s mother in Aug. 2023. By Dec. 2023, he was accused of assaulting the young girl. Officials are emphasizing the seriousness of this case, according to WFRV.

A detective from Beloit Police and a Child Maltreatment Officer investigated Hamlet, finding he had been providing drugs to the 14-year-old girl and sexually assaulting her, which led to her pregnancy. He was convicted of 2nd Degree Sexual Assault of a Child. Hamlet received the maximum penalty of 25 years behind bars, along with an additional 15 years of supervision after his release.

The City of Beloit Police Department said, “We are thankful for a lengthy prison sentenced handed to the defendant in this case. We are proud of this incredibly brave victim who deserved justice in this case. Thank you to everyone who worked to get her that justice – including two of our own!”
