(PBSO)

A 35-year-old Florida woman has been arrested and charged with child abuse for repeatedly punching a child in the face for answering homework questions incorrectly.

On Sept. 10, Margaret Gissome reportedly, “became upset because [victim] was doing her homework wrong,” Law & Crime reports. Police say Gissome “busted blood vessel in her (victim’s) left eye.”

The relationship between Gissome and the girl has not been revealed.

The victim revealed that Gissome hits her “a lot.” Gissome reportedly grabbed the girl “by the shirt collar and started shaking her, and with a closed fist started striking her face with the same hand,” the affidavit says.

Gissome also landed a closed-fist punch to the girl’s mouth. And she threatened her saying, “not to worry about your lip because your nose will be next.” The next hit landed on the girl’s chest.

Last week Gissome was released on $2,500 bond.
