A woman is in custody for allegedly trying to shoot her boyfriend, but fortunately, the gun malfunctioned, according to Memphis Police as reported by WREG.
On January 8, at the intersection of E Raines and Neely Road, a male victim informed officers that his girlfriend, #RenellHardin, had reportedly aimed a gun at his face. He explained that he was at Hardin’s home because she wanted to mend their relationship and asked him to “come back home.” During their reunion, the victim stated that they got into an argument over the light bill.
Hardin then became agitated and retrieved her pistol. The victim reported to officers that while they were outside, she allegedly fired a shot toward a neighbor’s home and another shot at the neighbor, with the second bullet hitting the driver’s side door of his vehicle. At that point, the victim stated that Hardin turned and allegedly aimed the gun at his face and pulled the trigger, but the gun jammed. When she bent down to clear the jam, he managed to take the weapon from her.
The victim indicated that he got into his vehicle to leave Hardin’s home, and she followed him. He then crashed his vehicle, fled the scene, and called a friend for a ride. According to the police report, the victim was unharmed but expressed that he feared for his life.
Hardin is facing charges of attempted first-degree murder, using a firearm during the commission or attempt of a dangerous felony, and reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon. Her bond status is currently unknown.
