Ashley Rowland of Moore County is being charged with child abandonment after confessing to giving away her child in exchange for drugs. But the bigger problem is that she cannot remember who has the child.

KOCO confirmed that the Oklahoma Department of Human Services had visited Ashley Rowland in 2023. In April of that year, the authorities wanted to obtain custody of the little child.

Upon investigations, DHS confirmed that Rowland’s daughter, aged 2 at the time, was with her father. But this soon proved to be a lie as the unsuspecting mom later disclosed that the child wasn’t with her dad in Georgia. Instead, she was with a man named Carlos.

The Moore resident told the police that Carlos was her drug dealer and that she gave the child to him. It wasn’t certain why this exchange was made, but the accused speculated that Carlos may be the father. However, she was sure her daughter was given away while she was on drugs.

On November 1, the 39-year-old was arrested. At the time, a probable cause affidavit had been filed. Rowland now has a criminal charge hanging around her neck. According to the Oklahoma County Criminal Court, this includes child abandonment. However, no sources claim that she is being held behind bars. Neither does any prison record within the count suggest that she is an inmate.

Meanwhile, USA Today was notified of an ongoing investigation by the city’s Department of Public Safety. But with little information on ground, there has not been much progress made. Still, the authorities will continue to join efforts to find the toddler.
