A seemingly delusional woman cut the torso of a pregnant woman in an effort to pretend the baby belonged to her.
Amber Waterman was sentenced to two consecutive life terms for the 2022 murders of Ashley Bush and her unborn child, Valkyrie Willis, Law & Crime reports.
Waterman lured Bush with a fake job opportunity, kidnapped and killed her, then cut the baby from Bush’s womb in a grisly attempt to pass the child off as her own.
Waterman’s husband, Jamie Waterman, was also reportedly involved in the crime, helping to dispose of Bush’s body. He faces charges of accessory to kidnapping and is awaiting trial.
The case began when Bush, 33 and pregnant, met Amber Waterman after responding to a job posting on social media. Waterman convinced Bush she could help her find employment, leading to Bush’s abduction and murder.
Authorities found Bush’s burned remains near the Watermans’ property in Missouri. Amber Waterman initially tried to deceive emergency personnel by claiming she had just given birth, but DNA tests confirmed the baby’s true identity as Bush’s unborn daughter, Valkyrie.
