The police have been ordered to pay a $300k pet goat settlement to an 11-year-old California girl and her mom, Jessica Long. This comes two years after the law enforcement officers served the family with a warrant for their pet. Reportedly, the goat was slaughtered and used for barbecue.

Not Just a Goat” | $300K Settlement for 11-Year-Old After Police Take Pet Goat Cedar 🐐

An 11-year-old former goat owner is in the news for being the Real G-O-A-T. Last year, her mom, Jessica Long served a lawsuit to the police following a 2022 incident. At the time her daughter was just 9 and was the owner of Cedar, a goat. That same year, she gifted Cedar to her child who grew familiar with the animal. The young child tended to it for months before deciding to take it to an auction.

According to NY Post, this auction at the Shasta District Fair was to support a youth program. Although Cedar was given to the organizers, his owner had grown to love him. She couldn’t bear to see him get slaughtered. The 9-year-old cried as the animal was being auctioned. Later, she shared her concerns with her mom who tried to intervene.

However, the organizers claimed that nothing could be done. Senator Brian Dahle won the bid for $902. Meanwhile, 7% of this amount was to go to the program. However, consequently, the politician refused to purchase the goat and no funds were exchanged.

Still, this did not stop Long from paying the $63 commission as expected, to the organizers. But they refused to let go of the goat. This led the concerned mom to forcefully take the pet home. Her actions necessitated a visit from the Shasta County Sheriff. They seized the animal which was later killed.

Now, Courthouse News Service says the police have been ordered to pay up to $300k pet goat settlement. Sources further added that the legal action between the Shasta District Fair and the youth program is ongoing.
