JT said her fans constantly attacked her, calling her mean, yet they remain fans. Her backlash is coming a few days after she left fans divided over her actions during a livestream.

    JT has told her fans they have Stockholm syndrome. The former City Girls member shared her opinion in a recent video in response to a fan’s comment. It all started when the singer asked fans about the Millenial pause. Several of them responded, but one comment caught JT’s eye. She reacted to the comment, saying, “I could’ve been born yesterday still would have think before I speak.” Another fan replied, saying she was “mean kinda.” 

    JT then hopped on social media to tell all her fans they had Stockholm syndrome. “Y’all always saying this about this, and honestly, I don’t even give a f**k no more because it’s giving stockholm syndrome. You all would not leave me alone”, she said. “As much as y’all call me mean, y’all still here,” the singer added. She also wrote in her post, “Y’all are ridiculous.”

    What Is Stockholm Syndrome?

    JT’s assertion that her fans have Stockholm syndrome is a reference to the medical term that explains a victim’s bond with their captor. According to the Cleveland Clinic, Stockholm syndrome is a psychological response to being held captive and occurs in kidnapper-hostage situations. People form a psychological connection with their captors and begin sympathizing with them. The term has now expanded to include other trauma types where the abuser and the abused form a bond.

    JT’s unbridled opinion is coming shortly after she went viral for her interaction with a stranger on her livestream. While scrolling, she accidentally added him to her screen, and both seemed stunned to see the other person. The singer also appeared annoyed at the man’s lack of knowledge about who she was. Many thought she didn’t handle the situation well, especially as she refused to answer the stranger’s questions and asked him to get off her screen.

    As many pointed out, JT’s fans are why she is on the internet, and saying they have Stockholm syndrome does not show appreciation. Hopefully, the singer will heed the corrections and stop being mean to them.

    Singer JT, born Jatavia Shakara Johnson, is mourning the death of her little brother JR. The Miami-born rapper confirmed the death on X, formerly Twitter, on Dec. 6, 2024. She shared her grief and lamented her inability to mourn her little brother properly due to her family’s situation. In response, fans sent their condolences to the rapper and asked her to take care of her health.

    Singer JT Mourns Her “Little Brother’s” Death

    JT took to her X account on Friday to announce her little brother’s death.

    “Lost my little brother & being the oldest I really didn’t get a fair chance to grieve because I have to make sure he go away nice & my mom is happy.….I love you, JR,” she wrote, adding a white heart emoji.

    She also shared a second post a few minutes after the first one.

    “I pray you’re somewhere so safe & comfortable 🧒❤,” the singer captioned a post with a picture of herself and her late brother when they were toddlers.

    Fans React to JT’s Announcement

    JT did not reveal details of her little brother’s death in either post, including how and when he passed. Nevertheless, several fans tried to console the trendsetting singer in the comments section.

    “Wow, I’m so sorry for your loss. I can’t even imagine what you must be going through. Do whatever you need to protect your mental,” a user wrote in response to the former City Girl member’s post that she could not mourn her brother properly.

    “Sending you love,” another user commented with three white hearts.

    JT’s Relationship With Her Late Brother

    JT is the eldest of three children from her mother’s side. Her father, however, had 16 children in all. The singer was separated from her biological siblings on her mom’s side around the age of five when her mother went to jail. She grew up with her dad and stepmom in Carol City and often felt excluded.

    “I always felt like I was the black sheep in my family,” JT told Paper Magazine in a 2023 interview.

    However, as she grew, she connected with her siblings on her mother’s side. Therefore, JT’s little brother’s death was a huge loss to her.

    JT is a rapper who hit the spotlight in 2018. She started rapping early and was in a rap group called The Protegees with her siblings. She left home early and frequently alternated living with an aunt and couch surfing with friends. Yung Miami, with whom she made her debut, was one such friend. JT was popular among her friends for her freestyle raps.

    During her interview with Paper Magazine, she said:

    “I always knew how to rap. I was born with this gift. But did I think I was gonna be a professional rapper? Hell no.” She added, “I never thought I would be a celebrity growing up, but I always wanted to be. Like, who don’t want to be what they see on TV?”


    However, the rapper has been rising to become one of the best in the industry. Losing a loved one is difficult, and one can never get used to loss. Understandably, JT’s little brother’s death must be hitting her hard. Hopefully, the singer and her family find comfort.
