  • California Man on Bond for Attempted Murder Faces Kidnapping Charges for Abducting 89-Year-Old Woman in South Carolina

California Man on Bond for Attempted Murder Faces Kidnapping Charges for Abducting 89-Year-Old Woman in South Carolina

A California man, who was out on bond for attempted murder, has been arrested for kidnapping and assaulting an elderly woman in South Carolina after she stopped financially supporting him, as reported by Fox News

Enver Marius Zueros, 34, was taken into custody on Monday and faces charges of first-degree burglary, kidnapping, and attempted murder in connection with the extortion of an 89-year-old woman. Authorities revealed that the woman was discovered on Sunday, left for dead with her wrists bound by duct tape, a dog leash around her ankles, and a bag over her head.

Police believe Zueros, who reportedly cross-dresses on social media, had a distant online relationship with the victim’s brother. The woman maintained contact with him through text and email while providing financial help. According to investigators, Zueros, a resident of Mission Viejo, California, became frustrated when she started donating to charities instead of sending him money.

To target her, he allegedly rented an Airbnb in the vicinity. When Zueros was in the woman’s house a retired law enforcement neighbor grew suspicious and rang the doorbell. He gave them a fake name and said that the victim had been hospitalized due to a fall in the shower. The neighbor, still feeling uneasy, went back to his home to retrieve a firearm, according to police. Zueros then fled the scene in the woman’s vehicle.

Authorities later located the car and discovered the woman restrained beneath the rear folding seats in the floorboard. Zueros was apprehended shortly thereafter. The victim suffered minor injuries but is reported to be in good condition, according to Wright. Zueros is currently being held in a local jail where he was denied bond.

Man Allegedly Killed His 80-Year-Old ‘Sneezing’ Roommate For Getting Too Close To The Thanksgiving Spread, Police Say

A Massachusetts man is accused of killing his elderly roommate on Thanksgiving because he felt he was standing

    “too close”

    to the food when he

    “often sneezes,”

as reported by the NY Post.

Frank Griswold, 80, went into the kitchen to wash dishes when his roommate, Richard Lombardi, 65, pushed him to the ground, according to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and court documents shared by WCVB.

Earlier that day, Lombardi and Griswold had a disagreement about the older man being near the food while it was being prepared. In a police interview, Lombardi explained that he was concerned Griswold’s sneezing might

    “contaminate the food.”

Lombardi told police he found Griswold in the kitchen,

    “too close”

to the food and shoved him away. Lombardi claims

“that Frank Griswold’s feet got tangled up, and he fell and hit his head on the floor,”

    WCVB reported.

When Griswold didn’t get up, Lombardi contacted 911. First responders found Griswold unconscious,

“laying face-up on the floor in the kitchen in a pool of blood,”

according to the prosecutors. The two roommates had been friends for 30 years and had lived together for over 20 years.

Lombardi has been charged with assault and battery against a person over 60, causing serious injury, and involuntary manslaughter. He pleaded not guilty and will return to court on December 4.

  • Two Women Arrested For Allegedly Running Romance Scam That Deceived Over A Dozen Elderly Men Out Of $7 Million

Two Women Arrested For Allegedly Running Romance Scam That Deceived Over A Dozen Elderly Men Out Of $7 Million

Two women fooled at least 16 vulnerable elderly men and stole over $7 million in a

    “romance scam”

that lasted for several years, reports the NY Post. Rosanna Lisa Stanley and Gina Guy allegedly used deceptive stories about medical procedures and fake business opportunities to manipulate their victims.

The scam finally came to an end when the two culprits were arrested last month. The con women reeled their victims in through

“in-person meetings, phone calls, text messages, and an online dating platform,”

    according to court documents.

Stanley, 48, deceived a man by pretending to be a fortune teller. She convinced him that his money was contaminated and promised to cleanse it. The victim believed her and sent her money transfers and checks for over a decade. He thought she could help him achieve his desired life.

Another victim fell in love with Stanley during a meeting in February 2023. He believed they were in an exclusive romantic relationship. As a result, he paid her rent and living expenses and gave her access to his online banking and credit card. Stanley changed his password, refused to share it, and spent thousands of dollars on his behalf. She also tricked him into investing in a fake catering business in Florida.

In total, Stanley swindled at least $555,000 from the senior, using some of the money to pay off loans for a boat and luxury car. Guy, aged 37, conned four men out of over $900,000 by claiming she needed money for kidney transplants. Stanley was arrested in Miami Beach, while Guy was apprehended in New York City. Both women are facing charges of money laundering, wire fraud, and conspiracy. They have been released on a $250,000 bond each, and the case is currently ongoing.

  • Florida Official Accused Of Stealing $100K From 96-Year-Old Victim and Spending On Facelift and New Home, Reports Say

Florida Official Accused Of Stealing $100K From 96-Year-Old Victim and Spending On Facelift and New Home, Reports Say

Orlando City Commissioner Regina Hill is currently under investigation after being accused of embezzling funds from a 96-year-old woman, according to The Independent

The allegations suggest that Hill used her position to obtain power of attorney over the elderly victim and subsequently misused the funds for personal expenses, including a facelift, a new home, clothing, car insurance payments, dental surgery, and a lavish New Year’s Eve stay at a Miami hotel. Additionally, it is claimed that Hill accumulated over $10,000 in debt using the woman’s name.

Despite not being arrested or formally charged, Hill is currently under investigation by the state, which began in February 2023 following a tip from a former staffer. Hill first encountered the elderly woman in 2021 due to her

    “poor living conditions.”

Within a short time, Hill took on the responsibilities of power of attorney, pre-need guardian, and healthcare surrogate for the woman, who had a savings account with over $164,000 at that time.

    The woman claims she signed

    “some sort of document”

but did not fully understand their contents. Court documents also assert that the elderly woman did not authorize Hill to utilize her savings to secure a mortgage for a property in the Lake Mann Estates area of Orlando.

It is believed that Hill’s son and girlfriend are residing in the house, while Hill herself lives in a separate residence that was reportedly renovated using a significant portion of the victim’s savings. An Orange County judge has reportedly ordered Hill to refrain from any contact with the woman, who has since appointed a new power of attorney.

Hill, who has served as an Orlando City Council member since 2014, has vehemently denied the allegations.

“I trust in God above all things, and I trust in the process. After ten years of service for the City of Orlando, I’ve illustrated my love and compassion for my constituents, my city, and my family. I know the truth; I know I’m entitled to due process, in which I trust, and I will await my day in court to prove my innocence,”

    she told The Independent.
