  • Man Sues Buffalo Wild Wings For Falsely Advertising ‘Boneless Wings’ That Are Actually ‘Closer To Chicken Nuggets’

Man Sues Buffalo Wild Wings For Falsely Advertising ‘Boneless Wings’ That Are Actually ‘Closer To Chicken Nuggets’

An Illinois man has been filing class action lawsuits against multiple companies for

    “false advertisement”

of their products. In his latest suit, he accused the restaurant chain Buffalo Wild Wings, of inaccurately naming their boneless wings which he claims are closer to chicken nuggets, Insider reported.

Aimen Halim filed the lawsuit in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois on Friday. According to court documents obtained by Insider, Halim is suing the franchise for

“the false and deceptive marketing and advertising of’ that Buffalo Wild Wings Boneless Wings.”

He claims that the boneless wings are

    “not wings at all”

but are actually deep-fried chicken breast meat that mimics the look of chicken nuggets.

“Indeed, the Products are more akin, in composition, to a chicken nugget rather than a chicken wing,”

the document says. It went on to call the advertisement

    “misleading”

and pointed out that if the product was in fact a boneless wing it would resemble a chicken wing that

    “has simply been deboned.”

Buffalo Wild Wings responded via Twitter about the case where they seemingly poked fun at it,

“It’s true. Our boneless wings are all white meat chicken. Our hamburgers contain no ham. Our buffalo wings are 0% buffalo.”

Buffalo Wild Wings has carried their boneless wings since 2003 and has described it as

    “all-white chicken” that’s “lightly breaded.”

However, Halim believes with a name like

    “Buffalo Wild Wings”

they ought to be more specific.

“It should be noted that Domino’s Pizza and Papa Johns also sell actual chicken wings, and that, a restaurant named Buffalo Wild ‘Wings’ should be just as careful if not more in how it names its products,”

    the lawsuit says.

Halim previously filed lawsuits against Colgate, Kind, and Hefty — accusing Colgate of falsely labeling their Tom’s Wicked Fresh Mouthwash as

    “natural.”

He said Kind’s “high in fiber” label was also untrue and that Hefty shouldn’t advertise its bags as

    “recycling bags”

because they are not recyclable. The Hefty case was dismissed in August, reports state.

  • Man Reported Missing Found Dead 8 Months Later When Wife Looked For Decorations

Man Reported Missing Found Dead 8 Months Later When Wife Looked For Decorations

The body of a missing man was discovered in a mummified state nearly eight months after he was reported missing by his wife, New York Post reported.

On April 22nd, 2022, Richard Maedge was reported missing by his wife of 19 years. Jennifer Maedge told officers that she had spoken to him the day beforehand over the phone, and that he told her he was coming home early. When she arrived to their house in Troy, Illinois, Jennifer saw that the 53-year-old’s car was in their driveway, and that his keys and wallet were inside, but Richard was nowhere to be seen. Local authorities searched the home twice, but Richard couldn’t be located.

According to officers from the Troy Police Department, the Maedge’s home was described as a “hoarder home,” which made the search for the missing husband challenging. Despite bringing in a K-9 unit for tracking in and around the house, Richard Maedge was not found.

Around eight months later, on December 11th, Jennifer Maedge discovered her husband’s remains inside a concealed part of a closet while she was searching for Christmas decorations. His body was within a small storage space, in a mummified state, which is why there was no odor post mortem. A coroner report released Thursday reveals that the cause of death was suicide, and no foul play was suspected.

Marilyn Toliver, the sister of the deceased, has made many complaints about the Troy Police Department’s efforts to find her brother. Meanwhile, his widow praised the investigation, saying that she was grateful for their help. She has since commented that her sole focus is grieving her late husband so that she can move on.

  • Pregnant Woman Run Over While Trying To Save Her Toddler During Carjacking

Pregnant Woman Run Over While Trying To Save Her Toddler During Carjacking

No arrests have been made after a pregnant woman was beaten and run over while trying to rescue her 2-year-old during a carjacking in Illinois, CBS News reported.

A 34-year-old had just returned to her home, when a white BMW appeared in her driveway. She had already brought in one of her small children and had returned to unbuckle the other. A tall man in a grey hoodie and a green mask then got out of the BMW sedan and ran to the front seat of her 2021 Volkswagen Atlas. The mother refused to back down and tried to fight the car thief off, but he began to beat her. After he knocked her to the ground, he got inside the vehicle with the two-year-old still inside, and ran the woman over as he took off.

About fifteen minutes later, the taken child was found. A bystander who worked at a nearby business saw two vehicles enter their parking lot, drop off the toddler, and take off. The witness ran and grabbed him just before he made his way to the road.

Police eventually found the Volkswagen, which sustained a considerable amount of damage. The BMW, which was discovered to be stolen from a dealership, has yet to be located. Police are now asking the public for help in finding it.

The mother, who is six months pregnant, was taken to an emergency room to receive medical care with serious injuries. Though she remains there, she is now stable and is expected fully recover.

  • Food Service Director Of School District After Allegedly Stealing $1.5 Million In Chicken Wings From Schools In Illinois

Food Service Director Of School District After Allegedly Stealing $1.5 Million In Chicken Wings From Schools In Illinois

A food service director has been charged after allegedly stealing $1.5 million worth of food. 66-year-old Vera Liddell was a food service director for the Harvey School District in Illinois, according to the New York Post. The woman allegedly began her heist back in 2020 during Covid-19, reports WGN

According to the news station, Liddell ordered over 11,000 cases of chicken wings for the Harvey School District with money from the school; however, she took all the chicken for her personal use. Court records say,

“The food was never brought to the school or provided to the students.”

Prosecutors believe she began the theft while students were practicing remote learning but the school district was still giving out food for pickup. It isn’t clear what happened to the extensive pounds of poultry.

The district learned about the woman’s actions after the district manager did a routine audit back in Jan. 2022 and learned that the food expenses were $300,000 above the budget only

    “halfway through the school year,”

    reports The Post.

    Prosecutors say, the district manager

“discovered individual invoices signed by Liddell for massive quantities of chicken wings, an item that was never served to students because they contain bones.”

Prosecutors went on to say that the food service supplier staff members knew Liddell by the name

“due to the massive amount of chicken wings she would purchase,”

reports WGN. The woman is being held on a $150,000 bond.

  • Man Reportedly Set Planned Parenthood Clinic On Fire After Former Girlfriend’s Abortion Three Years Ago

Man Reportedly Set Planned Parenthood Clinic On Fire After Former Girlfriend’s Abortion Three Years Ago

A man from Illinois has been accused of setting a Planned Parenthood clinic on fire after he was reminded and became

    “upset”

that his former girlfriend received an abortion three years ago, reports Complex News.

On Jan. 15, the man was captured on footage arriving at the building in his vehicle. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, the footage showed Tyler W. Massengill, 32, getting out of his vehicle as he held a rag that was connected to

    “a  laundry detergent-sized bottle.”

He then set the rag on fire and proceeded to smash the clinic’s window and then put the bottle inside. During the attack, Massengill had his face covered.

Officials were then able to connect his vehicle to the crime, which they were able to do after receiving multiple tips. Initially, Massengill denied setting the fire; however, he later admitted to committing the crime. He informed officials that he did it because he remembered an abortion that his former girlfriend obtained three years ago. He confessed that she received the procedure in the Peoria vicinity while he was working in Alaska.

    According to the criminal complaint,

“On or around January 15, 2023, Massengill heard or saw something that reminded him of the abortion, again upsetting him… Massengill admitted that, on January 15, 2023, he broke the window out of the PHC and placed a burning container inside of the building.”

The HuffPost reported that Massengill admitted it was

    “all worth it”

if his actions resulted in someone’s abortion being delayed. The fire caused $1 million worth of impairments. The man has been charged with

“malicious use of fire and an explosive to damage, and attempt to damage,”

    reports the outlet.
