Ramapo College of New Jersey is facing backlash as a transgender swimmer, Meghan Cortez-Fields, shattered a women's school record after previously competing on the men's team for three years, reports the NY Post.

Ramapo College of New Jersey is facing backlash as a transgender swimmer, Meghan Cortez-Fields, shattered a women’s school record after previously competing on the men’s team for three years, reports the NY Post.  During a recent meet in Pennsylvania, Cortez-Fields won first place in the 100-yard butterfly, clocking in at 57.22 seconds, outdoing the previous record set in 2017. The senior from College Station, Texas, also secured victory in the 200-yard individual medley at the Cougar Splash hosted by Misericordia University. While the college initially celebrated Cortez-Fields’ achievement on Instagram, they promptly deleted the post amid backlash from critics.  Riley Gaines, a former collegiate swimmer-turned-activist, criticized Cortez-Fields’ transition to the women’s team, claiming she went from being a “below-average male swimmer” to a “record breaker” against female competitors. “Those who choose to remain blind to the injustice of allowing mediocre male athletes to become record-breaking female athletes are either incompetent or misogynists. There is no in between anymore,” Gaines added in an interview with Fox News.  Ramapo College, however, came to Cortez-Fields defense, saying the school follows NCAA‘s protocols and that it “supports all of our student athletes.” “There are strict measures that the NCAA makes trans athletes go through. You have to meet certain criteria to show that you are able to, as a trans athlete, compete with women,” a spokeswoman said. “We are an affiliate member of the NCAA. We are in compliance. We have done everything the NCAA says needs to be done regarding trans athletes competing on the team. All of the steps were taken, and documentation was provided for approval of Meghan’s participation.” Ramapo’s swimmer faces a similar controversy as the University of Pennsylvania’s Lia Thomas’ who also received hate following her success last year. She too emerged victorious in swim meets after participating on the men’s team for three years.  #Clique, what are your thoughts?

Doctor Arrested After Reportedly Sexually Assaulting Patients and Pretending As If It Was Protocol For ‘Necessary Medical Exams’

A doctor in California who specializes in treating LGBTQ+ patients has been accused of sexually assaulting multiple individuals during supposed medical exams.

A doctor in California who specializes in treating LGBTQ+ patients has been accused of sexually assaulting multiple individuals during supposed medical exams. 56-year-old Dr. William Thompson IV was arrested last week in Newport Beach and is now facing various charges, including sexual penetration and oral copulation by fraudulent means, as well as sexual battery, per the New York Post. Six victims came forward after realizing that the tests they had undergone between 2016 and 2020 were unnecessary. These included inappropriate anal exams and forcing a male patient to perform oral sex. Newport Beach Police Chief Joe Cartwright announced that the thorough investigation uncovered three more victims. “Many of Dr. Thompson’s patients depended on him to provide life-saving care and he exploited those vulnerabilities for his own sexual gratification. Unfortunately, because of his specialized area of practice, Dr. Thompson put the very patients he was supposed to treat with professionalism and dignity, in a situation where they may have felt they had no other choice but to be subjected to sexual abuse in order to receive the treatment they needed to continue to live,” Todd Spitzer said the Orange County District Attorney.  “No one should be violated in such a shameful way by someone who has taken an oath to protect their patients,” Spitzer continued. If convicted on all charges, Thompson could face a sentence of 30 years to life plus 25 years. He posted $100,000 bail and is due in court on November 2. It is currently unknown whether he has hired an attorney or not. The police are continuing their investigation and are encouraging any other potential victims to come forward. Thompson’s online profile on indicates that he studied medicine at the Autonomous University of Guadalajara Faculty with the purpose of caring for HIV patients who had faced discrimination. #Clique, what are your thoughts?

Calls To Fire Oklahoma Elementary School Drag Principal Who Once Faced Child Pornography Charges

An elementary school in Oklahoma is facing controversy as demands to dismiss its drag queen principal, who previously faced accusations of child pornography, reports the NY Post.  According to a report by Fox News, Shane Murnan, known as “Shantel Mandalay” during drag performances, was appointed as the top administrator of John Glenn Elementary School in Oklahoma City in June. The report reveals that Murnan was charged with possession of child pornography over two decades ago, but the case was eventually dismissed due to a lack of evidence indicating that the images involved minors.  The Oklahoman notes that Murnan had been working as a fifth-grade teacher at the time and subsequently resigned before re-entering the profession at a later date. Shane Walters, the head of public school education in the state, strongly criticized the school district officials for hiring Murnan and demanded immediate termination of their employment. “I think that the left has absolutely an agenda for our kids, that they are at war with our kids in the classroom,” said the Sooner State’s head of public school education, Shane Walters. “What they are doing is injecting this ideology for an end goal here. Their end goal is to absolutely break down a child’s mind, break down the classroom, break down the family, and you see the results that have come from this.” District Superintendent Brayden Savage expressed his support for Murnan’s preference when it was announced. Fox News revealed that the principal had a separate Facebook account under the name Mandalay, where he presented himself in drag. According to the Christian Post, Murnan, who is known for taking part in local drag queen story-reading events for children, applied to become a church minister back in 2014. “If I went to church this is exactly what I would be wearing,” Murnan said in a comment while sharing a picture of himself wearing an electric blue wig and sticking out his tongue. Despite reaching out for comment, Murnan did not respond to Fox’s request. #Clique, what are your thoughts?

California School District Faces Lawsuit Over Policy Requiring Parental Notification For Student Gender Identity Or Pronoun Changes

California‘s Attorney General, Rob Bonta, has filed a lawsuit against the Chino Valley Unified School District over a controversial policy that requires teachers to notify parents if their child changes their identity or pronouns, reports the Daily Mail.  Bonta claims that this “parental notification” policy is discriminatory and violates civil rights and privacy laws. The lawsuit argues that the policy puts transgender and gender-nonconforming students in “danger of ‘imminent, irreparable harm,’ by risking they’ll be outed in their household ‘before they’re ready.” The policy was discussed during a public meeting in July, where more than 80 community members, including students, teachers, parents, mental health professionals, and advocates, voiced their concerns and opposition. They argued that the policy would endanger transgender and gender nonconforming students, with some stating that it would threaten their safety and sense of belonging. Letters written by LGBTQ+ students highlighted the potential consequences of forced disclosure, including abuse, hate crimes, and even murder. The lawsuit seeks to discontinue the enforcement of the policy. Bonta also believes other Southern California districts with similar policies will be affected by the litigation. Bonta emphasized that the policy infringes on students’ rights. “It tramples on students’ rights,” he told ABC 7 News.  Under the policy, Chino Valley schools must inform parents in writing within three days if a student requests to be identified or treated as a gender different from what is recorded on official documents. Parents will also be notified if students participate in sex-segregated activities or use bathroom facilities that don’t align with their listed gender. The lawsuit is now in the hands of the San Bernardino County Superior Court, which will determine whether the practice should be immediately banned. #Clique, what are your thoughts?

Billy Porter Excluded From Met Gala As Invite Is Revoked After Referring To Anna Wintour As A ‘B*tch’ Over Harry Styles Vogue Cover

It seems that Billy Porter won’t be attending the Met Gala next year, breaking his annual tradition. According to a report from RadarOnline, the fashion sensation had his invitation “revoked” due to his derogatory remarks about industry icon Anna Wintour. Porter expressed his frustration with Vogue’s controversial December 2020 cover, where former One Direction member Harry Styles wore a dress. The ‘Pose’ star, known for his gender-fluid fashion choices, claimed to be the trailblazer who “changed the world” by wearing a tuxedo dress at the 2019 Oscars. Despite his accomplishments, he felt overlooked for the historic cover opportunity. Although Porter later apologized for his comments, he reiterated his disapproval in a recent interview. Allegedly, he disclosed having a conversation with Wintour herself before Styles graced the magazine cover. Porter claimed that Wintour sought his insights on how Vogue could contribute to this groundbreaking era of fashion he spearheaded. “That b*tch said to me at the end, ‘How can we do better?’ And I was so taken off guard that I didn’t say what I should have said,” Porter said in the interview. Porter also claims that the Grammy Award winner, only landed the cover because he’s “white and straight.”  “It doesn’t feel good to me. You’re using my community — or your people are using my community — to elevate you. You haven’t had to sacrifice anything,” It appears that Porter’s remarks did not sit well with Wintour and resulted in the withdrawal of his Met Gala invitation. “While Billy is a sensation on the fashion scene, the designers have rallied behind Anna, a true titan of the industry,” a source told the outlet.  #Clique, what are your thoughts?
