2 Shot at Maryland Cemetery During Funeral of 10-Year-Old Gun Violence Victim, Police Say

Two people have been shot, one fatally, at a Maryland cemetery during a funeral for a 10-year-old girl who was also a victim of gun violence, CBS News reported.

On Tuesday afternoon, around 1:15 p.m., police received calls about a shooting located at Washington National Cemetery in Prince George’s County, Prince George’s County police Maj. David Blazer said at a news conference. The victims had no connection to the young girl’s funeral.

“What we can tell you about these two individuals, that they were not directly related to the funeral of the 10-year-old girl,”

    Blazer said.

“We believe that this was a dispute totally unrelated to what was going on with the funeral, the circumstances leading up to the funeral, the circumstances to the investigation in D.C., this was totally independent of that.”

A man tragically died from his gunshot wounds and a woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to the outlet.

One person has been placed in custody, Blazer said per CBS.

Sean, the student, was hindered after having a towel tied around his waist as he sat at a table at the Kids Villa Learning Center in Germantown. According to the New York Post, the video was posted by the daycare.

The student’s grandmother, Ruby Cambell, revealed that she was stunned after reviewing the clip. She contacted the two staff members who were in the classroom at the time, and they informed her that the boy was tied up because he failed to sit still. The grandmother told Fox,

“He was [in] no way acting any different from any normal 2-and-a-half-year-old would act.”

    Cambell continued,

“In the video, you could see there are other kids standing up. There are other kids moving around. So, I’m not going to say that he was acting unruly. I’m saying he’s acting like a 2-and-a-half-year-old would act.”

The boy’s Grandmother showed the daycare director the video. The director said she

“couldn’t believe what she was seeing too.”

Reports say that the two daycare teachers were suspended following the act and the toddler was enrolled in a new daycare.

The daycare director informed the news outlet that children aren’t allowed to be restrained and that they don’t have a restraining policy. The boy’s family attempted to file a police report; however, the incident isn’t being investigated as a crime because the child wasn’t bruised or injured. A report was also filed with child protective services.

3 Men Posed as Fake Pastors and Financial Advisors, Making Nearly $28M in Ponzi Scheme

Three Maryland men who pretended to be pastors and financial advisors were sentenced Thursday after running a Ponzi scheme that brought in nearly $28 million, per Insider.

The men, John Erasmus Frimpong, Arley Ray Johnson, and Dennis Jali are accused of promoting a bogus financial literacy and wealth management firm named

    “1st Millions”

in August 2017, where they lied to investors about investing in forex and crypto ventures that would bring them a monthly return on investments as high as 35%, reports reveal.

    According to prosecutors, the men

“frequented churches, hotel galas, and upscale events to recruit at least 1,200 victims”

who reportedly coughed up millions of dollars to them. The men allegedly told their victims that they were licensed traders under the laws of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, reports state.

    prosecutors said in court documents.

The thieves reportedly used the money to maintain a lavish lifestyle. They are accused of staying in luxury hotels, with one making a $27,000 purchase on an Audi, $20,000 on a Porsche, and $78,000 on private jets.
