2-Year-Old Boy Survives After Falling From 15-Story High-Rise Building, Landed On Bushes

A 2-year-old boy survived a 15-story fall from a high-rise apartment in Maryland after luckily landing on bushes and mulch below, officials reported. The unnamed toddler fell from a private balcony with a glass barrier on Thursday afternoon in White Oak, per ABC News, according to the New York Post

David Pazos, the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service Assistant Chief, told ABC News, “[It’s] miraculous.”

“I think it was a combination of those bushes being there, those shrubs, and his size and weight,” he continued.

The unnamed toddler fell while his parents were home. He was awake after the fall and had some serious injuries, with a broken arm being the most visible one, according to fire officials. He was quickly transported to the hospital; however, his condition was not known right away. Montgomery County officials are looking into the incident.

  • SCOTUS Puts Pause on Deportation Controversy After U.S. Mistakenly Deported Maryland Man to El Salvador

SCOTUS Puts Pause on Deportation Controversy After U.S. Mistakenly Deported Maryland Man to El Salvador

Chief Justice John Roberts just hit the brakes—at least temporarily—on a legal injustice involving a Maryland man, Kilmar, according to ABC News, Armando Abrego Garcia, who was mistakenly deported to El Salvador by the U.S. government. The Supreme Court issued a last-minute administrative stay, delaying a court-ordered deadline to bring Abrego Garcia back to the U.S. by Monday, April 7, 2025, at 11:59 p.m.

The Trump administration had asked the Supreme Court to intervene after lower courts ordered the government to fix its error and bring Abrego Garcia back. This stay from Roberts doesn’t mean the court is siding with anyone—it just buys more time to figure things out.

The government admits they deported Abrego Garcia by mistake. Despite having legal protections, he was detained by ICE, held in Texas, and then sent to El Salvador—where he ended up in one of the country’s most infamous mega-prisons. All of this happened while he was living in Maryland with his U.S. citizen wife and their five-year-old kid.

Let’s rewind a bit: Abrego Garcia came to the U.S. in 2011 when he was 16, fleeing gang violence in El Salvador. His attorney, Simon Sandoval-Moshenberg, says the gang claims are false and should be handled by an immigration judge—not ICE agents or presidential politics.

The Supreme Court gave Abrego Garcia’s legal team until Tuesday at 5 p.m. to respond to the Trump administration’s arguments. No word yet on how the justices will ultimately rule, but all eyes are on them as the clock ticks.

  • Judge Orders Government to Bring Back Maryland Man Incorrectly Deported to El Salvador, ‘This Was an Illegal Act’

Judge Orders Government to Bring Back Maryland Man Incorrectly Deported to El Salvador, ‘This Was an Illegal Act’

On Friday, a federal judge in Maryland issued a preliminary injunction, ordering the government to ensure the return of Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, the Maryland resident who was mistakenly deported to El Salvador, by Monday, according to ABC News.

“I am going to grant the motion for preliminary injunction I’ve reviewed, and I’ll read this word for word, so that there is no dispute that the oral order is the written order,” U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis remarked during Friday’s hearing, referencing the recent court case involving the Alien Enemies Act, where the government did not comply with another judge’s verbal orders.

“This was an illegal act,” Xinis said of Garcia’s deportation. “The two defendants are hereby ordered to facilitate the return of plaintiff Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia to the United States by no later than 11:59 p.m. on Monday, April 7, 2025.” Despite having protected legal status, Abrego Garcia was sent to the infamous CECOT mega-prison in El Salvador due to what the government described as an “administrative error.”

While the government has admitted to the mistake, it previously stated in court documents that since Abrego Garcia is no longer in U.S. custody, the court cannot mandate his return to the U.S. or compel El Salvador to send him back. Last month, Abrego Garcia, whose wife is a U.S. citizen and has a 5-year-old child, was approached by ICE officers who informed him that his immigration status had changed, according to his attorneys.

He was detained and subsequently moved to a detention center in Texas before being sent to the CECOT prison in El Salvador on March 15, along with over 200 alleged Venezuelan gang members.

Mother Accused Of Forcing 13-Year-Old Daughter To Lie To Police After Shooting Her In The Neck

A 32-year-old woman is in jail in Maryland for allegedly shooting her daughter and then telling her to lie about what happened, as reported by Complex. The woman, Talecka Brown, has been charged with first-degree attempted murder.

The police said they responded to a call at her home on Tuesday afternoon and found a 13-year-old girl injured. Brown’s daughter, was

“suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body,”

police reported. NBC4 Washington reported that the teenager suffered a gunshot wound in her neck and is in critical but stable condition at a local hospital.

Court records from Prince George’s County District Court show that Brown has been charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, first-degree murder, and using a gun during a crime. She is currently in jail without bond, and a preliminary hearing is set for October 25.

“It is always tragic when we have acts of violence within our community, but it is heart-wrenching when the perpetrator is supposed to be your protector,”

Cedric Heyward, Acting Chief of the Seat Pleasant Police Department, said in a news release.

“I am glad to hear that the victim is recovering at a local hospital, but the emotional trauma will remain for some time.”

According to a local NBC report, the victim said she and her mother started arguing when she got home from school. The argument turned physical, and the girl told the police that she heard gunshots while walking down the stairs, at which point she fell. It’s alleged that Brown told her daughter to lie and say an intruder did it. Later, Brown reportedly blamed an unknown homeless person for the shooting.

After Brown’s arrest, prosecutors mentioned a call she made from jail, expressing concern that she might influence her daughter as the case goes on.

  • 2 Individuals Shot At Bowie State University Campus Amidst Reports Of Gunfire During Homecoming Week

2 Individuals Shot At Bowie State University Campus Amidst Reports Of Gunfire During Homecoming Week

According to officials, two individuals were injured and transported to a nearby hospital following reports of gunshots during the university’s homecoming week, Saturday night, CNN reported.

“Bowie State University Police received a report of shots fired at approximately 11:45 in the area of Henry Circle near the Center for Business and Graduate Studies,”

Bowie State said in a post on Facebook.

Authorities have not disclosed any details regarding the nature of the victim’s injuries or their current conditions. The identity of the perpetrator remains unknown, and it is uncertain whether anyone has been apprehended as of yet. Local law enforcement is currently investigating the incident, as confirmed by the university.

Bowie State, a Historically Black University in Prince George’s County, currently has 6,408 students enrolled for the Fall 2023 semester, according to the university’s website. This incident occurred shortly after a shooting at Morgan State University, another HBCU, where four students and another individual were injured during a homecoming event. Maryland State Police Maj. Kenny Brown believes there isn’t a connection between the two shootings.

The shooting at Bowie State resulted in students fleeing and a lengthy shelter-in-place order while authorities searched for a suspect. These incidents scarred students and left them without a homecoming week, a time meant for students and alumni to gather and celebrate.

Following the shooting at Morgan State that led to the cancellation of their homecoming game, Bowie State University extended an invitation to Morgan State students to join in their homecoming festivities.

    “Together, we are HBCU Strong,”

Bowie State Athletics wrote on X Friday. Bowie State had several events on its homecoming roster such as music and comedy events, and a homecoming after party. Classes have also been canceled on Monday.

Maryland Man Arrested For Impersonating An Officer, Police Say

A Maryland man was arrested for allegedly posing as a cop and pulling over a civilian who later alerted police, FOX News reported.

Greenbelt police said they arrested Carl Colston, 47, in connection to the July 8th incident. The suspect is accused of conducting an illegal traffic stop on the off-ramp of Greenbelt Road at 201 Northbound in the city of Greenbelt, reports reveal.

The victim told police that Colston began tailing his vehicle and started honking and flashing his white interior lights. When the driver signaled Colston to go around him, he passed him waiving a badge.

Colston then blocked the roadway with his car causing the victim to come to a stop, before driving back behind the victim like a police officer to continue to attempt his traffic stop. The suspect reportedly had on a Maryland Marshal tactical vest, showed the victim a badge, claimed he was an officer, and called for backup using a handheld radio, reports state.

The victim told police that Colston approached his vehicle clutching his black pistol but did not point it at him. He did lift the gun to make it visible to the victim, however. When the victim told Colston he was calling the police and recording him, Colston got back in his car and drove off.

Colston was apprehended during a traffic stop on July 13 at approximately 9:10 p.m., police said.

A Maryland man posing as an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer was arrested after allegedly holding a woman at gunpoint and forcing her to perform oral sex to avoid deportation, police said per Fox News.

Police identified the suspect as 26-year-old Victor Antonio Reed. On Tuesday, the Prince George’s County Police Department Sexual Assault Unit received a call around 8:15 p.m. about a rape that occurred at a shopping mall parking lot.

The victim, a Hispanic woman, said Reed approached her with a badge and claimed he was an ICE agent. Reed told the lady she had to sit inside his car or face deportation. The woman told police she was

    “terrified”

and pleaded with Reed not to deport her, even offering him money.

Reed reportedly took $100 from the victim but said she could not yet leave until she performed oral sex on him. Reed was arrested at a traffic stop on Thursday, reports note. He faces several charges including,

“first and second-degree rape, impersonating a law enforcement officer, armed robbery and theft,”
