Imam Stabbed While Leading Prayers At New Jersey Mosque

A New Jersey man is now in police custody after stabbing an imam at a mosque yesterday, The New York Times reported.

At around 5:30 A.M., while the congregation was kneeling during the first prayer of the day, a hooded man moved to the front of the room and stabbed the kneeling imam. The assailant attempted to flee after the attack, but was stopped by the other worshippers within the mosque.

“This is a senseless crime, but one that we strongly believe is an isolated incident,” said Abdul Hamdan, the mosque’s spokesperson. “Because of the swift action of the Omar Mosque congregants, the attacker was swiftly and immediately apprehended.”

Serif Zorba was arrested shortly after and charged with first-degree attempted murder, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon. The 32-year-old is scheduled to appear in court some time today for his bond hearing.

The victim, Imam Sayed Elnakib of the Omar Mosque, was rushed to a nearby hospital to receive medical care. Officials say he is now in stable condition, and is now focusing on recovering and returning to his congregants.

New York Mother Distraught After 13-Year-Old Son Stabs Sister Multiple Times

A 13-year-old in Queens is facing assault charges after stabbing his 14-year-old sister multiple times inside their home Saturday night, the New York Post reported.

Investigators say that during an argument between the two, the unnamed 13-year-old stabbed his sister with a steak knife, and then called 911 to report “somebody with a knife breaking into the house.” Despite suffering wounds to her back, legs, thighs, arms, and face, the victim was able to point to her brother as the attacker.

Rupiah Begum, the mother of the teenagers, is distraught about what has occurred. The mother of five says she was at work, five minutes away from the house, when she received a call that her son had attacked her daughter. Her husband, and the children’ father, was away on a trip to Bangladesh.

“I don’t know what happened,” Begum told The Post in an interview. “Everything is good usually. They play together. No problems usually.”

Begum says that immediately following the incident, the young suspect called her, stating that something was wrong and that he was angry. The reasoning for the attack remains unclear, but investigators were told by the child that the stabbing was the result of her “bothering him.” No additional information has been released.

“He screams a lot and there’s, you know, there’s a lot of yelling,” one of their neighbors explained. “They came here three years ago. Nicest neighbors we ever had. Never any trouble at all.”

The victim is alive, but is in critical conditions. She is currently being treated at Jamaica Hospital, while her brother and attacker remains in police custody.

  • Serial Killer Super Fan “Giggled” After Fatally Stabbing Boyfriend

Serial Killer Super Fan “Giggled” After Fatally Stabbing Boyfriend

In July of 2022, a 27-year-old woman in Havant, Hampshire slit the throat of her boyfriend before plunging the blade into his chest 17 times, The Telegraph reports.

In her bedroom, which was decorated with framed photos of serial killers and weapons, Shaye Groves and Frankie Fitzgerald would have sex as they filmed. Both interested in BDSM, they would regularly videotape their sexual counters to imitate rape, despite it being consensual. Groves would later use the footage to claim self defense, but unedited versions refuted her claims.

On the day of Fitzgerald’s death, Groves discovered that her boyfriend had been messaging who she mistakenly thought was a 13-year-old girl on social media. Though the individual had actually been 17, Groves acted out of jealousy and attacked Fitzgerald as he slept. Afterwards, she called a friend via video chat and “giggled” as she revealed the victim’s body.

According to prosecutor Steven Perian, Groves used knowledge obtained from watching crime documentaries to portray herself as a victim of sexual violence. He says that “the defendant, by reading about and watching murder documentaries, she was familiar with crime scenes, how to create a false narrative, and how to set up a false alibi.”

Despite her efforts, Groves was found guilty to murder following a trial. The 27-year-old has been sentenced to 23 years in prison.
