An old video is resurfacing again as Tory Lanez’s legal team intensifies its efforts to secure his release. In the resurfaced clip, Moe from Lawyers for Workers recapped Kelsey Harris’ testimony. Moe attended the court sessions for Lanez and Megan’s legal battle and was present during Harris’ testimony. He shared at the time that Harris recanted her previous testimony.

“Kelsey testified that everything she had told prosecutors and investigators before suggesting that Tory had shot at Meg was a lie,” he said in the clip, adding, Kelsey said, “she did it to protect herself. Why was she protecting herself?” Moe asked before responding, “She didn’t want to incriminate herself.”

Tory Lanez’s team made a lot of effort to secure his pardon last month. They promised to release evidence proving his innocence several times and named a different culprit in the shooting. Together with UTP, a nonprofit that champions social justice and legal advocacy, Lanez lawyers held a press conference. They presented a statement from Harris’ former bodyguard and driver, Bradley James, claiming that Harris shot Megan and not Lanez. James said his conscience wouldn’t allow him to remain quiet.

He said Harris fired the gun three times before Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, grabbed her arm and knocked it down. This caused the gun to fire two more times. UTP’s lead legal consultant, Walter Roberts, pointed out that James’ testimony aligns with that of the non-party witness, Sean Kelly. The consultant claimed the trial had too many inconsistencies and irregularities, down to the DNA sample taken. He questioned why only Tory Lanez’s DNA was taken and called for the rapper’s pardon and release.

Megan Thee Stallion Insists Tory Lanez Shot Her

The calls for Tory Lanez’s pardon intensified after a fellow inmate stabbed him 14 times. Meanwhile, Megan Thee Stallion has always remained firm in her stance that Lanez shot her. In a December 2023 Instagram Live, she insisted that Kelsey Harris didn’t shoot her. She also reacted to the backlash she faced as a consequence of Lanez’s stabbing. She called out critics and trolls on TikTok, asking them to leave her alone.

Megan wondered why her critics couldn’t agree on a story as some claimed she was never shot. Others agreed someone shot her but believed it wasn’t Lanez. She noted that the singer never dared to lie that he didn’t shoot her. She also claimed that Lanez’s team didn’t have new evidence as they claimed. Megan’s team affirmed her claims a few days later.

They released a report asserting that no new evidence could prove Tory Lanez’s innocence and provide proof to secure his pardon. In the 31-page document, Megan’s attorney, Alex Spiro, stated that Lanez admitted to his own guilt, as evidenced by a text message. He added that Bradley James was not present at the crime scene, and so didn’t witness the incident. The document further provided evidence in a PowerPoint presented in court to secure Tory Lanez’s conviction.

It doesn’t seem the calls for Tory Lanez’s pardon will cease anytime soon. His team continues to insist on his innocence and has launched a website in support of this goal. Hopefully, the case will be quickly resolved so that everyone involved will get justice.

Republican Florida Representative Anna Paulina Luna is calling for Tory Lanez freedom amid the declaration of his innocence. She said she has evidence to back her claims and asked California Governor Gavin Newsom to pardon Lanez. Earlier this week, Luna took to Instagram and Twitter to demand for the rapper’s freedom. She also shared a link to a petition with over 260,000 signatures, calling for Newsom to pardon Tory Lanez.  The Caldwell Institute for Public Safety created the petition after the singer was stabbed.

“I am calling on Gov. Newsom @CAgovernor to review Tory Lanez’s case and issue a pardon,” Luna wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “His 10-year sentence was based on flawed evidence, political pressure, and prosecutorial bias. The evidence speaks for itself! He is an innocent man that had been wrongly incarcerated! Justice must be blind! Free Tory Lanez.”

The Congresswoman then referred to the evidence Tory Lanez’s legal team claimed they have to prove his innocence. Shs said the evidence led to many people signing the petition for Lanez’s pardon. She also promised it would be released shortly. “We have compelling evidence proving Tory Lanez’s innocence, and it will be released within the next 36 hours. Those who rushed to call for his incarceration, and worse yet pushed false evidence, should prepare to be held accountable,” she wrote.

Congresswoman Questions Tory Lanez’s Conviction

Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna further made a case for Tory Lanez’s innocence in more posts on X. She questioned the forensic evidence and other judicial factors involved in the singer’s conviction and sentencing.

“The forensic evidence in the Lanez case was deeply flawed,” Luna said, listing the issues she identified, adding, “This raises serious doubt.” In another post made an hour ago, the Congresswoman concluded, “Tory Lanez’s defense was denied full access to DNA evidence. Entire samples were used up by the prosecution before defense testing. Reports weren’t shared until just before trial. That’s a violation of due process.”

Tory Lanez’s Legal Team Alleges Intentional Threat To Life

Two days after Tory Lanez stabbing, his lawyers said they had acquired new evidence to prove his innocence. Unite the People (UTP), a nonprofit focused on legal advocacy, held a press conference hinged on a statement from Kelsey Harris’ bodyguard, Bradley James. James was the former driver and bodyguard of Megan’s ex-best friend, Kelsey Harris. James claimed he overheard Harris admitting that she fired the weapon Megan accused Lanez of firing. He said Harris confessed  that Lanez intervened to stop her.

The calls for Tory Lanez’s pardon and freedom grew after the press conference. Lanez’s lawyers also questioned Megan Thee Stallion and her team’s involvement in their client’s brutal stabbing. “When evidence was about to come to light, Tory was nearly killed,” they said, per BroBible. A X account added, “Tory Lanez was stabbed 14 times just days after a major national news outlet was preparing to release a piece on new evidence in his case. It came immediately after they contacted opposing parties.”

Meanwhile, UTP’s legal consultant, Walter Roberts, noted that James’ testimony confirms Sean Kelly’s account of what transpired in court. Kelly was the only non-involved eyewitness, and his testimony pointed at Harris as the likely suspect. Roberts also shared his concerns about the judicial process that saw Lanez in prison. He questioned why authorities only tested the rapper for DNA among all the parties present on the night of the shooting. Moreover, forensic checks revealed unknown DNA on the gun.

Megan Thee Stallion Responds To Claims Of Tory Lanez’s Innocence

Meanwhile, Megan Thee Stallion has responded to the calls for Tory Lanez’s freedom and the claims of his innocence. She shared a post on TikTok asking, “At what point are yall gonna stop making me have to re live being shot BY TORY !? At what point are Tory and yall FANS gonna stop lying ? Like how much is the check to keep harassing me? Why is this happening EVERY DAY?”

She continued, “One min him/ yall said I was never shot now yall letting him play in yall face AGAIN and say I was shot but it wasn’t him oh okay… ?!” She concluded by calling Lanez a “f***king demon” and asking him to leave her alone.

Congresswoman Luna’s lending of her voice to those insisting on Tory Lanez’s innocence adds more weight to his case. However, as many have pointed out, until the evidence is presented in court, the support and claims mean nothing.

Tory Lanez’s team is still working hard to get the rapper out of jail with new evidence they obtained. They recently held a press conference with Unite the People (UTP), a nonprofit that champions social justice and legal advocacy. During the conference, UTP’s lead legal consultant, Walter Roberts, revealed that Kelsey Harris’s bodyguard and driver had shared a statement. Harris was Meghan’s former best friend, and her bodyguard, Bradley James, claimed Lanez didn’t shoot Meghan.

Roberts said, “Not long ago, Unite the People was approached by a gentleman, Bradley James. Mr James informed us he was working as the bodyguard and driver for Ms. Kelsey Harris during Mr. Peterson’s trial. As such, he was in close proximity and he had privy to conversations she was having with her husband and others.” Roberts added that James didn’t sign a confidentiality clause that would have prevented him from speaking out, and his conscience didn’t permit him to leave an innocent man in prison.

The legal consultant continued, “Mr. James informed Unite the People that he was witness to the conversation Mr. Harris had where she stated she had the gun, she fired it three times, Mr. Peterson grabbed her arm and knocked it down, and the gun fired two more times. In essence, Mr. Peterson never shot anybody, never even touched the gun, never fired the gun.”

Tory Lanez’s Team Hasn’t Submitted New Evidence

Meanwhile, despite claiming it exonerates their client, Tory Lanez hasn’t submitted the evidence. Legal reporter Meghann Cuniff shared the news in a recent post where she discussed Lanez’s stabbing.

Cuniff wrote, “The claim of new evidence hasn’t been filed in the appellate case. Until it is, it’s not going to factor into anything.”

However, Tory Lanez’s fans have pointed out that his case had been briefed before the new evidence came up. They noted that it likely contributes to the delay since any additional evidence submitted will delay the process. In the meantime, Lanez’s team has started a petition to get him out of jail following this week’s stabbing incident. Another inmate, 42-year-old Santino Casio, stabbed Lanez 14 times in the back, torso, back of his head, and face. Casio is a convicted murderer with a long history of violence and is already serving a life sentence.

Since then, he has been placed in restricted housing while authorities investigate the incident, and the rapper is in recovery. Meanwhile, the petition urging Governor Gavin Newsom to “correct a deep injustice” by freeing Lanez has received over 100,000 signatures.

Tory Lanez’s legal team has questioned what they call “irregularities” in the shooting case. This includes asking why only the songwriter’s DNA was taken. Judge Urges Tory Lanez’s Wife to Move Quick On Divorce

Tory Lanez’s estranged wife and mother of his child, Raina Chassagne, has been asked to hurry up with their divorce. The judge asked her to show seriousness by serving the rapper the legal paperwork before the next hearing in June. The judge discovered that Chassagne, who filed for a divorce in 2024, had yet to present the papers to Lanez. As seen in the paperwork she filed, the couple married on June 25, 2023.

However, Tory Lanez kept the news of his marriage under wraps, and many only found out during the divorce. Chassagne filed for a divorce from her incarcerated husband almost a year after their marriage, in June 2024. She listed June 1, 2024, as the legal date of their separation and cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the divorce. Tory Lanez’s wife also asked the court to grant her full custody of their son but with visitation rights for Lanez.

Meanwhile, the judge warned Chassage that she would have to stay legally married to Lanez if she delayed any further. The couple’s divorce process has already undergone several delays since Chassagne first filed. The judge asked her to move the case forward or provide proof of serving Lanez the paperwork. Failure to do either would result in a fine and dismissal of the case. Tory Lanez’s wife has until June to follow either option and update the court.

Megan Thee Stallion Gets Protective Order Against Tory Lanez

Tory Lanez is currently in prison, serving a 10-year sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion. The court found him guilty on three charges of negligent discharge of a firearm, assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and carrying an unregistered gun. Megan Thee Stallion said Lanez, whom she once dated non-exclusively, shot her in the feet in 2020. After a party at Kylie Jenner’s Hollywood Hills home, the duo fought in an SUV.

Days before Tory Lanez’s wife received a warning from the judge, Megan obtained a restraining order against him. The singer claimed he launched a smear campaign against her to ruin her reputation and win his upcoming appeal. She said the harassment from Lanez and his foot soldiers was affecting her mental health and appealed to the court in January.

“[Tory] is fully aware of the impact of the psychological warfare he has waged against [Megan], yet he continues to deputize his supporters to attack [Megan’s] character and integrity,” Megan Thee Stallion’s filing read. She asked the court to issue an order stopping the rapper from harassing or attempting to intimidate her. Although Lanez tried to dismiss the motion, the judge granted Megan’s request and ordered Lanez to stop all harassment. The Traphouse rapper is also to stay 100 yards away from her.

It is unclear why Tory Lanez’s estranged wife keeps delaying her divorce from him. It remains to be seen whether she will finalize their divorce or dismiss it after the judge’s warning. Meanwhile, Lanez will be eligible for parole in May 2029.

The plaintiff requested a thirteen-year jail term for the defendant, but the jury instead sentenced him to ten years. Tory has now served four months, yet his absence from home hasn’t disrupted his connection with his son, Kia.

Tory Lanez’s Son Visits Him in Prison

Ceasar McDowell, a rapper’s legal team member who runs Unite, The People, informed TMZ that Tory’s heart had been warmed by seeing his son four times in a row. The visits to the California Correctional Institution Tehachapi were facilitated by an older relative who took Kia to see his dad.

Since his arrival at the facility four months ago, Tory hasn’t been able to give his son a proper Christmas celebration. However, he has had the opportunity to make up for it through these prison visits. They have played games, laughed, and shared meals together. The bonding time has lasted for approximately five hours during the weekends. So far, Kia has visited the prison four times on four consecutive weekends.

Meanwhile, the rapper has made it clear that his son means the world to him. Remember that during the trial, Kia didn’t leave his dad’s side, as Tory made him attend some court sessions.
