Man Sues Universal Studios After Being Stuck in a Tilted Position on Faulty ‘Harry Potter’ Ride for an Hour, Lawsuit Says

A Florida man is taking legal action against Universal Studios after he reportedly remained stuck on a roller coaster in a tilted position for an hour, per Law & Crime.

In a lawsuit filed last week in the Ninth Judicial Circuit of Florida, Casey Causey alleges that while on the

“Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey”

roller coaster on July 2, 2023, the ride suddenly

“came to an abrupt stop, stranding their cart midair at an angle that left him tilted backward and to the right.”

“Plaintiff was stranded in this position for approximately one hour, after which the cart was moved to an upright position,”

    the complaint continues, adding that

“the roller coaster was a defective product.”

Causey has charged Universal with negligence, asserting that the theme park had a responsibility

“to exercise ordinary care and skill to avoid foreseeable harm to Plaintiff and other similarly situated persons.”

The lawsuit claims that the park created an

    “unreasonable risk of harm”

by not addressing issues with the ride, despite park employees being aware that it was

    “defective,”

which led to Causey sustaining injuries as a result. Those injuries include

“bodily injury, resulting in pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, scarring, mental anguish, loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life, expense of hospitalization, medical and nursing care and treatment, loss of earnings, loss of the ability to earn money, damage to property, inconvenience, and aggravation of a previously existing condition.”

Causey’s injuries stem from the park’s prioritization of profits over safety, the lawsuit argues.

“[T]he defendants’ failure to fix the roller coaster, shut it down, or provide adequate warning of the potential stoppage was done out of desire to obtain money for ticket sales for the park,”

Causey’s attorneys stated in the complaint. Additionally, the lawsuit claims that Causey has lost his ability to earn income as a result.

NYPD Seeks Arrest Warrant for Babysitter Caught on Video Hitting NYC Kids with a Belt

The NYPD is trying to obtain an arrest warrant for a city-funded babysitter who was caught on video beating two boys from the Bronx with a belt, according to the NY Post. The incident, reported by the family nearly a month ago, has been confirmed by law enforcement sources on Tuesday.

Authorities are actively looking for 24-year-old La’keysha Jackson, who was allegedly caught on video hitting the crying children, aged 4 and 6, nearly 60 times inside their home in Morrisania on May 6, the sources revealed. As of Tuesday, officers had not yet been able to find Jackson for arrest.

If a grand jury issues an arrest warrant when it meets on Wednesday, police will be able to enter Jackson’s apartment by force to take her into custody, the sources added. The disturbing footage obtained by The Post shows the caregiver violently whipping the children’s backsides while holding their small arms to prevent them from escaping.

    “Guess what’s about to happen?”

she can be heard saying, apparently upset that the two older kids, aged 4 and 6, did not clean up their room.

    “Belt?”

one of the young boys answers. Pulling a thick brown belt out of a cross-body bag, Jackson replies

“You’re right — I warned y’all,” chillingly adding: “Drop ‘em.”

According to the family, Jackson also

“Hit the kids with the [clothes] hangers, hitting them with belts, [and] throwing the [2-year-old] baby.”

Their mother, Geraldine Jaramillo, has also claimed that the babysitter subjected the children to emotional and verbal abuse. Jackson was hired by Selfhelp, a home aid provider contracted by the troubled Administration for Children’s Services (ACS), as part of a homemaking program designed to assist struggling families in the city with babysitting services. An ACS spokesperson stated that Jackson is no longer employed by Selfhelp and that ACS is collaborating with the NYPD in their investigation.

Three people survived a plane crash off the coast of Florida that happened at night, according to PEOPLE.

On Sunday, June 1, around 8:30 p.m. local time, the pilot made a mayday call, said Sheriff Eric Flowers from the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office during a press conference with ABC affiliate WPBF. Sheriff Flowers estimated that the three people were treading water for about 45 minutes before being saved.

The pilot suffered the worst injuries, reporting pain in his ribs. All three were taken to Coast Guard Station Fort Pierce for a medical check-up. The crash is now being investigated by the NTSB and FAA.

“This is just an incredibly heroic event,”

Chicago Museum Director Stripped Naked on Flight While Drunk — But Keeps His $1M Position

The director of the Art Institute of Chicago was arrested in Germany last month for drunkenly stripping naked on a United Airlines flight, as reported by the NY Post. However, he will resume his position following an internal review.

James Rondeau is scheduled to return to work on Monday after the embarrassing incident on April 18 led him to take a voluntary leave from the prestigious museum, where he earns more than $1 million annually.

“I deeply regret this incident and the impact it has had on the museum and me and on my colleagues,”

Rondeau said in a statement to CBS News.

“I have dedicated the past 27 years of my professional career to the Art Institute and I am grateful to have the opportunity to continue furthering its mission.”

Rondeau was on a flight from Chicago to Munich when he was arrested after landing for allegedly taking off his clothes during the flight while under the influence of alcohol and prescription drugs.

This embarrassing incident led the museum to start an independent investigation while he was away. Despite the controversy, museum officials believe he can continue to lead the organization.

“Board leadership of the Art Institute of Chicago has conducted an independent investigation of this incident and is confident in James Rondeau’s leadership and ability to continue as the President and Director of the museum,”

a spokesperson for the institution told the outlet.

GoFundMe for Teen Who Returned to Burger King Shift Just Hours After Graduation Surges to $130K

A woman came across a Georgia teenager, Mykale Baker, working at Burger King just hours after his high school graduation, still wearing his graduation stole and medal. Inspired by their encounter, the woman started a fundraiser that has now surpassed its initial goal by more than double, with donations continuing to rise, as reported by the NY Post.

This remarkable story began when fundraising organizer Maria Mendoza met the 18-year-old during his evening shift at Burger King.

“He was so kind, so polite,”

    Mendoza told the outlet.

“Radiating joy, even after such a big day. His dedication and quiet strength really moved me. I felt called to do something to recognize that.”

Mendoza took action by launching a fundraiser for Baker called

“From Burger King to a College Dream,”

    sharing his story on TikTok

    “without thinking,”

she said. Remarkably, the online campaign reached its goal within just 10 days of its launch. In the initial days, thousands of dollars poured in, but as the touching story spread across social media and news outlets, donations skyrocketed to six figures, far exceeding the $60,000 target. Many of the contributors were strangers, united by their support.

A few days later, Mendoza returned to the restaurant to share the astonishing news of the donations, which had surged to nearly $130,000 by Saturday afternoon. Mykale Baker was brought to tears by the generosity and filled with excitement as he contemplated his dream of pursuing higher education.

    “I feel happy,”

Baker, 18, said in an interview with 11 Alive this week.

“I just want to say thank you to my parents and all the people that see the good in me and believe in me, and donated all that money to me.”

Baker proudly walked across the stage on May 21 during his graduation ceremony at Mills Creek High School. However, he expressed his concerns about what lay ahead after graduation due to financial limitations, although he was hopeful about attending a trade school.

“I’m just grateful I got to do something for him,”

    Mendoza said.
