U.S. Senator Proposes Ending Dual Citizenship; New Bill Would Force Americans to Choose One Nationality or Lose Their U.S. Citizenship

A Republican senator is pushing new legislation that would force Americans with dual citizenship to give up their foreign citizenship, as reported by Huff Post.

Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio), who was born in Colombia, announced the bill Monday. He highlighted that becoming a U.S. citizen at 18 was

“one of the greatest honors of my life.”

In a press release, he added,

“It was an honor to pledge an Oath of Allegiance to the United States of America and ONLY to the United States of America! Being an American citizen is an honor and a privilege—and if you want to be an American, it’s all or nothing. It’s time to end dual citizenship for good.”

Moreno introduced the Exclusive Citizenship Act of 2025, saying the bill would require U.S. citizens to hold

“sole and exclusive allegiance to the United States.”

He argued that current laws allowing dual citizenship

    “create conflicts of interest.”

If passed, the bill would give dual citizens one year to choose whether to renounce their foreign citizenship through the State Department or give up their American citizenship through Homeland Security. The proposal would likely face legal challenges. The 14th Amendment, upheld in a 1967 Supreme Court ruling, states that

“a U.S. citizen cannot lose his or her citizenship unless he or she willingly surrenders it.”

Among those who could be affected are Melania and Barron Trump, who hold both U.S. and Slovenian citizenship, according to Mary Jordan’s book The Art of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump.

Rebecca Corry’s Animal Foundation Sues LA Mayor, Claiming City Failed to Protect Stray Dogs

Comedian and “Last Comic Standing” finalist Rebecca Corry is taking her fight for animal welfare to court.

According to TMZ, her nonprofit, the Stand Up For Pits Foundation, has filed a lawsuit against the City of Los Angeles, Mayor Karen Bass, the LAPD, Los Angeles Animal Services and its manager Annette Ramirez. They are accusing them of failing to properly care for stray animals in shelters and in the Skid Row area.

Corry, who is also a longtime animal advocate, founded the organization to help pit bull-type dogs. According to the lawsuit obtained by TMZ, the foundation claims city officials repeatedly ignored laws meant to protect animals, leading to what they describe as widespread suffering.

The group says it has stepped in where the city didn’t, spending more than $50,000 on medical care for 11 dogs they believe Los Angeles was responsible for. The lawsuit asks the court to force the city and its agencies to meet their legal obligations and reimburse the foundation for the money it spent caring for the animals.

A spokesperson for Mayor Bass told TMZ,

“Mayor Bass has taken action to investigate allegations of animal cruelty in Skid Row, with the LAPD recently recovering dogs from an illegal puppy mill in the area.”

Woman Walking Dogs Brutally Assaulted in LA; Police Search for Homeless Attacker

A woman walking her dog near the Los Angeles Convention Center was violently sexually assaulted by a homeless man in an attack captured on surveillance video, per the NY Post. Police say the suspect is still at large.

The victim, identified only as Terra, was standing with her small dog at the entrance of a downtown high-rise when a man in a black hoodie suddenly rushed her, KTLA reported. The footage shows him pinning her against a glass door and straddling her leg.

“He grabbed the back of my neck and my crotch area and I was screaming for help,”

    Terra told the outlet.

She said the man didn’t say anything during the assault, only making noises. The video, timestamped 6:23 a.m. on Nov. 8, shows Terra briefly breaking free before the two move out of the camera’s view — with her dog still standing in the frame.

Terra said the attacker then slammed her to the ground.

    “That’s when he hit me,”

she said. A man nearby heard her screams and intervened.

“He was on top of the guy and just hitting him in the head over and over,”

Terra said. The assailant eventually ran off.

“It’s scary to think he’s still out there,”

    she said.

By the time officers arrived, the attacker had already disappeared. Police are investigating the case as sexual battery and believe the suspect is homeless.

Terra now carries Mace and a stun gun whenever she goes out.

“I’m constantly looking over my shoulder. Before I knew it, he grabbed me and I was not able to get away,”

    she said.

“I hope it never happens to anyone.”

Pregnant Michigan Woman Found Dead in Forest; Biological Mother and Husband Charged

Authorities in Michigan have charged a woman and her husband with murdering her pregnant biological daughter, whose body was discovered in a wooded area three weeks after she went missing, according to the Associated Press.

Rebecca Park, 22, was just days away from giving birth when she disappeared on Nov. 3.

Cortney Bartholomew is Park’s biological mother, however, she was adopted as a child and raised by another family alongside her siblings.

Cortney Bartholomew, 40, and her husband, Brad Bartholomew, 47, were charged Tuesday with murder, torture, and several related offenses. According to the prosecutor, Johanna Carey told the court that Park’s baby had been cut from her body when searchers found her remains last week.

“Mr. Bartholomew brought Rebecca to their home, forced her into another vehicle and took her into the woods where they stabbed her, forced her to lie on the ground while they cut her baby out, ultimately caused her death and the death of the baby,”

    Carey said.

The couple appeared in court by video from jail and were denied bond. Carey said investigators are still working to determine why the killing happened.

Robert De Niro’s Heartbroken Daughter Says ‘Internet’ Influenced 19-Year-Old Son’s Deadly Pill Addiction, Now She is Speaking Out to Protect Other Families

Drena De Niro says she’ll never forget waking up on July 2, 2023,

“completely distressed, and I had no idea why.”

Minutes later, an NYPD detective arrived at her Tribeca home to tell her that her only child, 19-year-old Leandro De Niro Rodriguez, had died of an accidental fentanyl overdose.

“This detective stood there, and the whole world as I knew it collapsed,”

    she said.

Leandro was found in a Financial District apartment with drug paraphernalia nearby. Federal authorities later arrested several alleged dealers accused of selling fentanyl-laced pills that killed three people, including Leandro and 19-year-old Akira Stein. One alleged dealer, 20-year-old Sophia Haley Marks was charged with selling the pills tied to Leandro’s death.

Drena acknowledged she knew her son had been using drugs and said TikTok, the pandemic and fentanyl created a fast-moving danger, per PageSix.

“There was a change in him that was so fast,”

    she said. Before opioids, he

“liked to smoke weed, he liked to party,”

but she noticed something was off and believed it stemmed from the internet.

Before his death, Leandro had been

    “talking about rehab,”

and had briefly attended one program that

“did a terrible disservice to him.”

    Drena said,

“He knew he was over his head. I think he had been exposed to much harder drugs that he didn’t know about.”

In the aftermath, Drena shared a public tribute calling her son

    “my beautiful sweet angel”

    and said he was

    “so deeply loved and appreciated.”

Robert De Niro, who adopted Drena in 1976, said he was

    “deeply distressed”

by the loss and asked for privacy for the family.

Determined to honor her son, Drena launched the Leandro De Niro Rodriguez Foundation to raise awareness about fentanyl and support young people struggling with addiction and mental health. She hopes her work

“help[s] prevent other families from ever having to know this pain”

and believes her son is still guiding her.

“You have to find something that gives your purpose,”

    she said.

Diddy Helps Feed 1,000 Inmates for Thanksgiving at Fort Dix While Serving His Federal Prison Sentence

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs may be serving time, but that didn’t stop him from being in the holiday spirit. The hip-hop mogul reportedly spent his Thanksgiving behind bars, spreading the holiday cheer by feeding nearly everyone around him at the low-security federal prison in Fort Dix, New Jersey.

According to TMZ, representatives for the disgraced Bad Boy Records founder teamed up with the group Bankroll Bosses to provide Thanksgiving meals for up to 1,000 inmates. The food was bought from the prison commissary and cooked over two days before being delivered to each housing unit.

“Thanksgiving, to me, is about making sure other people eat,”

Diddy, who has previously taken part in holiday meal-giving efforts, told the outlet through his representatives.

“Everybody misses their family. People get depressed during the holidays. We just wanted to come together as a family and do our own thing.”

Former gang leader B.I. reportedly helped coordinate the effort, which included a turkey roast and trimmings.

“We cooked the food and sent it to all the buildings,”

    he told TMZ.

“Enough for about 200 people in each building. It took days to prep everything.”

    Diddy added,

“There’s a lot of misinterpretations about prison. There is a strong brotherhood. We all look out for each other. It’s nothing but a positive thing,”

    saying it felt

“like a little bit of home in a dark place.”

Diddy is currently serving a 50-month sentence after being convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.

Previously Diddy was held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, where he reportedly received his own Thanksgiving spread. His meal included dinner rolls, cranberry sauce, turkey roast, vegetables, and mashed potatoes, with dinner options like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, chips, and fruit, reports noted.

Recently, Diddy’s son, King Combs, suggested the music mogul could be home sooner than expected.

“We gon play the ‘Diddy Free’ joint whole Christmas, whole Thanksgiving,”

    he said, adding,

“He coming home, though. Watch out, he might come home before then.”

  • College Freshman Deported to Honduras Despite Federal Order, Attorney Says

College Freshman Deported to Honduras Despite Federal Order, Attorney Says

A 19-year-old college freshman hoping to surprise her family for Thanksgiving instead ended up deported to Honduras, as reported by the NY Post. Her attorney says it happened despite a federal order meant to stop her removal.

Any Lucia Lopez Belloza, a Babson College student, had already gone through security at Boston Logan International Airport on Nov. 20 when officials told her there was a problem with her boarding pass, according to her lawyer, Todd Pomerleau. She was detained by immigration authorities and, within two days, sent first to Texas and then Honduras, the country she left when she was 7.

    “She’s absolutely heartbroken,”

    Pomerleau said.

“Her college dream has just been shattered.”

ICE says an immigration judge ordered her deported in 2015. But Pomerleau says she had no idea about any removal order, and the only document he’s found shows her case was closed in 2017.

“They’re holding her responsible for something they claim happened a decade ago that she’s completely unaware of and not showing any of the proof,”

    he said.

A day after Lopez Belloza was taken into custody, a federal judge issued an emergency order blocking the government from moving her out of Massachusetts or the U.S. for at least 72 hours. ICE did not answer a request for comment from the Associated Press about why she was still deported.

Lopez Belloza is now staying with her grandparents in Honduras. She told The Boston Globe she had been excited to tell her parents and younger sisters about her first semester studying business.

“That was my dream,” she said. “I’m losing everything.”

Deadly Blaze Engulfs Hong Kong High-Rises, Leaving at Least 13 Dead and More Trapped

A massive fire swept through several high-rise apartment buildings in Hong Kong on Wednesday, according to TMZ. At least 13 people were pronounced dead, leaving many others trapped as the flames continued to burn.

CNN reported that seven of the eight towers in the Wang Fuk Court complex, a development with about 2,000 apartments, were still burning as rescuers worked to reach those stuck inside.

Fires of this scale are uncommon in Hong Kong, even with the frequent use of bamboo scaffolding. In this case, the flames tore through the scaffolding and quickly grew into what may be the region’s deadliest fire in nearly three decades.

About 767 firefighters were sent to battle the blaze, according to CNN. One firefighter was among the 13 people confirmed dead. Authorities said 15 others were injured, and the government has opened temporary shelters for residents forced from their homes.

Miami Attorney Accused of Knocking Out Elderly Man on Norwegian Cruise Ship

A Florida attorney was arrested aboard a Norwegian Cruise Line ship after allegedly knocking an elderly man unconscious, authorities said, according to the NY Post.

Phillip Ortiz, 38, was on the Norwegian Encore when he was told he couldn’t enter a restricted hallway. Ortiz allegedly snapped back,

“Who the f—k are you to tell me what I can and can’t do,”

before shoving the 67-year-old man, according to an arrest report obtained by NBC Miami.

Police said the man pushed Ortiz and his wife away, triggering a fight. During the scuffle, Ortiz allegedly tripped the victim, causing him to fall and hit his head. The man lost consciousness, and witnesses began CPR after Ortiz walked off. Nurses and security staff responded, and the victim later regained consciousness before being taken to the University of Miami Hospital. Surveillance footage supported the accounts from the victim and witnesses, police said. Ortiz was arrested Saturday and charged with aggravated battery on a person 65 or older.

Ortiz pleaded not guilty on Sunday. His attorney, Stephan Lopez, argued the victim was drunk and blocking the couple from reaching their children.

“The so-called elderly person is bigger [and] stronger than my client,”

    Lopez told People magazine.

“[He] was already drunk prior to the ship departing and he instigated and initiated the aggression amongst other things, assaulting my client’s wife and preventing access to their children 6 and 14 by, without authority, closing a door behind them and preventing access.”

Ortiz was released on bond on Monday and ordered to stay away from the victim.

Recently Freed Sex Offender Accused of Posing As Doctor, Assaulting Student at Arizona School

A convicted sex offender who was released from prison two weeks ago is accused of posing as a doctor and sexually assaulting a student at Orangewood Elementary School in Phoenix on Nov. 19, per the NY Post. Police say 25-year-old Abel Kai Gblah entered the campus and lured a young girl into a classroom.

Phoenix police said they were called after administrators reported an incident on campus.

“When officers arrived, they learned an unauthorized man had made it onto school grounds and lured a grade-school-aged girl into a classroom where he sexually assaulted her,”

    officials said.

“At some point, the student was able to push the man away. He then ran from the scene before officers arrived.”

FOX 10 Phoenix reported that Gblah pretended to be a doctor and told the girl he needed to examine her. Police later arrested him, and prosecutors said he is a registered sex offender with two 2021 convictions for sexual conduct with a minor.

The school district said the campus went into lockdown for more than an hour.

“He was on campus for approximately 10 minutes and during that time, he made inappropriate contact with a student,”

the district wrote. An internal review found Gblah entered through an unlocked lobby door and walked in with a tardy student.

A staff member has been placed on leave as the district reviews safety procedures.

“We understand how alarming this situation has been,”

Principal Emily Paterson wrote. Gblah is being held on a $500,000 cash-only bond, with a preliminary hearing set for Dec. 1.
