Transgender Woman Convicted Of Two Rapes Before Her Transitions Is Transferred To Men’s Prison After Initially Being Sent To All-Female Prison

A UK trans woman who was convicted after raping two women prior to her transition and was sent to an all-female prison will now be housed in a male prison.

The initial consideration to have her held at an all-female prison caused an uproar from activists, United Nations officials, as well as politicians. Isla Bryson from Scotland was declared guilty this week of rape when she was previously named, Adam Graham. According to a Daily Mail report, before her transition, Bryson was a

    “muscular”

man with a bald head and face tattoo. Bryson denied the charges and informed the court that the incident was consensual, pleading that she

“would never hurt another human being.”

Yet, prosecutors argued that the 31-year-old assaulted an unidentified victim back in 2016 and another one in 2019. Both incidents occurred in Scotland. Bryson initially went to court as Adam Graham in 2020; however, later on, that year, she made the decision to transition. Bryson said that she desired to transition since 4 years old but didn’t make the final decision until she was 29 years old. However, Byson’s estranged wife, Shonna Graham, doubted her motive for her transition decision, reports CBS. Bryson informed jurors that Adam Graham

    “was her dead name,”

reports FOX. Bryson is currently taking hormones and looking to do gender reassignment surgery.

Bryson was being held in in remand at the Cornton Vale women’s prison in segregation; however, following the outrage, Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced,

“Given the understandable public and parliamentary concern in this case I can confirm to parliament that this prisoner will not be incarcerated at Cornton Vale.”

A conservative member of the Scottish Parliament, Russell Findlay, said,

“This rapist decided that he was no longer a man only after appearing in court on a rape charge.”

A Scottish politician who chairs the Joint Committee on Human Rights, Joanna Cherry said,

“To many people, it will look like this convicted rapist has gamed the system in order to try and garner sympathy and end up in a women’s prison.”

TikToker Arrested After Scamming GoFundMe Donors Out Of Thousands After Documenting Fake Cancer ‘Battle’

An Iowa woman is accused of faking her cancer diagnosis and swindling over $37,000 from concerned donors, NY Post reported.

Madison ‘Maddie’ Russo was arrested on Jan. 23 after authorities got wind of the 19-year-old’s TikTok campaign where she documented her journey with

“Stage 2 pancreatic cancer, and acute lymphoblastic leukemia.”

Russo talked about what it was like being a college student suffering from a tumor

“the size of a football that wrapped around her spine.”

However, Maddie’s story began to crumble when anonymous witnesses claiming to be medical professionals said they recognized faulty medical equipment and

    “discrepancies”

after watching her videos. They notified the police who later issued a search warrant at Russo’s Bettendorf apartment. Police discovered a brown paper bag with medical supplies, an IV pole with a feeding pump filled with cotton swabs, a wig, and pills for nausea in a relative’s name in it, according to the court documents.

The teen reportedly opened a GoFundMe account where she raised $37,303 from more than 439 anonymous donors, officials said. In her GoFundMe description, it reads,

“Maddie is currently undergoing vigorous chemotherapy and radiation treatments that make her very sick… As one can imagine, this diagnosis has been very hard on Maddie’s family… If you are able to, donations would be greatly appreciated to help cover medical expenses and to allow Maddie to focus on one thing only, which is to show that she is stronger than cancer and will beat this.”

The profile has since been removed and donors were reimbursed.

Russo was charged with first-degree theft and faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

  • 18 Children Injured After Battery Starts Fire At NYC In-Home Daycare Center

18 Children Injured After Battery Starts Fire At NYC In-Home Daycare Center

On Wednesday, January 25th, The New York City Fire Department received a call about a “heavy fire” at a residence. A lithium-ion battery caused the basement of the home, where a daycare center and a dentistry business operated, to go up in flames.

According to NBC News, 18 pediatric patients were removed from the building. One of the children transported to a nearby hospital remains in critical condition. Forty minutes after their arrival, the fire department was able to contain the flames.

The NYC Department of Buildings later sent two inspectors to the home to perform an inspection. The department then issued violation notices for construction work done in the cellar without legal work permits. The department said the cellar was intended for “accessory storage,” not to operate the two businesses, NBC reported.

John M. Esposito, the NYCFD chief of fire operations, has since released a warning about the dangers of charging lithium-ion batteries in homes.

“The lithium-ion batteries, we’ve been having problems with them the last few years in scooters and bikes, and charging them,” he said. “They should not be charged in the entranceway or pathway to leave your house or apartment. You should not charge them overnight. Charge them in a room with a closed door while you’re awake and alert.”

  • 97-Year-Old Froze To Death Near Door of Assisted-Living Center In Colorado, Family Lawsuit Says

97-Year-Old Froze To Death Near Door of Assisted-Living Center In Colorado, Family Lawsuit Says

An assisted living center in Louisville, Colorado is now facing a wrongful death lawsuit almost a year after an elderly resident was found frozen to death outside of the facility in February of 2022, Fox News reported.

Mary Jo Staub was placed in the care of Balfour at Lavender Farms after she had been been experiencing confusion, depression and memory loss, and was determined by healthcare professionals to need close monitoring. With the starting rates of $7,500 a month, Staub’s relatives paid an additional $1,500 every month for heightened care. Despite their extra efforts to keep their loved one safe, no one was watching Staub when she wandered outside in below-freezing temperatures in the middle of the night.

In a surveillance video, Staub is seen wandering the facility, getting locked out, and then banging on the doors for help. She made her way to a snow mound that was near the nurse’s station’s window and climbed it, but injured herself trying to get their attention. According to CBS News, she then crawled on her hands and knees towards the doors again, leaving a blood trail. Despite banging on a glass window for five hours, “No one at Lavender Farms was monitoring the security cameras that night,” the lawsuit states. “Not a single Balfour employee noticed Staub was locked out of the facility… Not a single Balfour employee was present to help Mary Jo in any way.”

The Louisville Police Department did not press criminal charges against any of the employees responsible for Staub’s death, but the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment conducted their own investigation and issued eight violations against the facility. Their findings were also listed in the lawsuit.

“Mary Jo will be greatly missed by all that knew her and forever be an inspiration to her family on how hard work, grit and determination will take one far in life,” her obituary read. “Rest In Peace. You are loved beyond words. A life well lived.”

  • Released Video Footage Shows Armed Robbery Of Florida Amazon Delivery Truck Driver

Released Video Footage Shows Armed Robbery Of Florida Amazon Delivery Truck Driver

Two Florida men are now in police custody after a deliver truck driver was robbed at gunpoint earlier this month. A video of the incident was taken on dashboard camera and released by Orange County Sheriff’s Office, showing 22-year-old Arkimase Divinard and 23-Year-old Joel Junior Aime before their arrests, Law And Crime reports.

After completing a delivery at an apartment complex, an Amazon driver noticed Aime near the driver’s side door of his company-issued van. Thinking nothing of it, he enters the vehicle from the rear sliding door on the passenger’s side, and is followed inside by Divinard.

“[Divinard] told the delivery driver he had a gun and wasn’t afraid to shoot him,” the affidavit says. “[Divinard] then pointed a silver handgun at the delivery driver and demanded his belongings.”

With a handgun pressed against his neck, Divinard demands the victim to tell him the phone’s passcode and his debit card’s pin. He then takes around 10 packages and flees the scene. As the robbery occurred, a witness ran to flag down police. During the arrest, Divinard became enraged, and caused self-inflicted harm while in custody, but his partner was arrested without incident.

“The two suspects are back behind bars where they belong, facing charges of robbery with a firearm,” the now deleted Orange County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post said. “With a criminal history that includes 85 felony charges and 11 felony convictions between them, we hope they will stay locked up for a long, long time.”

  • Mariah Carey Speaks About Refusing To Pay For Siblings Hospital Bills In Autobiography: Older Sister “Tried To Sell Me To A Pimp”

Mariah Carey Speaks About Refusing To Pay For Siblings Hospital Bills In Autobiography: Older Sister “Tried To Sell Me To A Pimp”

Mariah Carey is one of the best-selling music artists of all time. With over 220 million records sold worldwide, she holds the records for most Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles by a solo artist, a female songwriter, and a female producer. Despite her being the highest certified female artist in the United States, 53-year-old “Songbird Supreme” has struggled with maintaining her relationships with her family members. In her autobiography, “The Meaning of Mariah,” the award winning singer and actress reveals why she made the decision to cut ties with her brother and sister.

Growing up, Mariah Carey’s family struggles financially. When her parents divorced, her mother worked multiple jobs in order to support them. After her rise to fame, Mariah Carey took on the financial responsibilities of her family, including her older siblings: sister Alison and brother Morgan. With the combination of feeling used, mixed with resentment, she became low-contact with them.

“When I was 12 years old, my sister drugged me with valium, offered me a pinky nail full of cocaine, inflicted me with third-degree burns, and tried to sell me out to a pimp,” she recalls.

After years of therapy, Carey decided that the trauma they inflicted was too great, and cut them out of her life for good.

“For my sanity and peace of mind, my therapist encouraged me to literally rename and reframe my family. My mother became Pat to me, Morgan my ex-brother, and Alison my ex-sister… I had to stop expecting them to one day miraculously become the mommy, big brother, and big sister I fantasized about.”

In 2016, Morgan Carey spoke to The Sun, claiming his celebrity sibling refused to pay his and their sister’s hospital bills, despite his failed attempts to get ahold of her, Animated Times reports. After the release of her book, Alison and Morgan Carey have filed a defamation suit. Though the songstress has distanced herself with her brother and sister, she has created a family with her children, friends, and millions of adoring fans.

  • Doctor Convicted Of Fraud After Reusing Single-use Tools For Sinus Surgeries ‘Hundreds Of Times’

Doctor Convicted Of Fraud After Reusing Single-use Tools For Sinus Surgeries ‘Hundreds Of Times’

A North Carolina ENT Doctor has been convicted of fraud after she was caught reusing single-use tools for sinus surgeries hundreds of times, Dailymail reported.

Anita Louise Jackson, 59, owned three offices of Greater Carolina Ear, Nose and Throat where she defrauded her patients by reusing single-use devices from 2011 to the end of 2017. According to the outlet, Jackson utilized only 36 devices for 1,400 procedures. Jackson is accused of performing these heinous acts on her patients who were on Medicare.

Jackson reportedly had been operating balloon sinuplasty procedures, which treats chronic sinusitis where she used Entellus XprESS, an FDA-approved device. However, the FDA only approved it for use on one patient, for one surgery, and then it is meant to be discarded. According to Justice Department officials, records revealed that Jackson had only ordered 36 new devices in the years in which she conducted 1,400 surgeries. She also failed to inform her patients about her malpractice.

“This doctor put profit ahead of patients, luring in Medicare patients with free ‘sinus spas’ and risking infection to those patients by reusing the same single-use surgical devices on them again and again,”

said Michael Easley, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina.

She is also accused of using those surgeries to bill Medicare over $46 million.

Jackson is convicted on charges of fabricating medical and healthcare records, paying illegal remunerations, mail fraud, and conspiracy. She faces up to 40 years in prison if convicted and fines exceeding $250,000. The jury already ordered an appropriation of $4,794,039.31 in Medicare fraud.
