The 35-year-old woman was charged with several counts including a count of assault and three counts of armed criminal action following the fatal shooting of 49-year-old Joseph Farrar and 19-year-old Darius Jackson.

  • Spain Approved Law To Allow Individuals Over 16 To Change Their Legal Gender Without Parental Or Medical Supervision

Spain Approved Law To Allow Individuals Over 16 To Change Their Legal Gender Without Parental Or Medical Supervision

On Thursday, Spain lawmakers reportedly passed a law that allows individuals over 16 years old to adjust their

    “legally registered gender”

without parental or medical oversight, according to the New York Post

    The Post reports,

“The legislation passed in Spain’s lower house of Parliament 188-150, replacing a previous law that required people to consult with a doctor before making the change on their government IDs.”

Underaged children are allowed to make adjustments to their ID with a judge’s approval and minors between the ages of 14 and 16 can make the change only if they’re chaperoned by a legal guardian or parent.

In the past, Spanish individuals who are transgender needed to be diagnosed with gender dysphoria by multiple doctors. If you’re unaware, according to NHS,

“Gender dysphoria is a term that describes a sense of unease that a person may have because of a mismatch between their biological sex and their gender identity.”

Previously, some cases required individuals who wanted to change their legal gender to prove that they have been living as the gender they identified with for two years or show proof that they’ve been taking hormones.

Transgender rights groups celebrated the approved bill, as they said it showcases a

    “before and after”

    moment

    “in LGBT rights,”

    reports The Post.

BBC reported that members in Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez’s socialist party opposed the new law as they were nervous that it would deteriorate women’s rights. A former deputy prime minister Sanchez, Carmen Calvo said,

“When gender is asserted over biological sex, it does not seem to me to be a step forward in a progressive direction; it seems to be a step backwards. The state has to provide answers for transgender people, but gender is neither voluntary nor optional.”

However, the Equality Minister of the Podemos Party, Irene Montero, believes the law ensures trans individuals’ rights

     Montero said,

    “Trans women are women.”

The law was disapproved of by conservatives; however, it was passed after an 18-month parliamentary debate.

The bill is anticipated to officially become law once the senate passes it, which is predicted to happen by the end of the year.

Over a dozen countries have embraced equivalent gender identity lawmaking.

  • Former Landlord Slapped With Over 3 Dozen Sexual Charges After Demanding Sexual Favors From 30 Tenants In Exchange For Housing Aid

Former Landlord Slapped With Over 3 Dozen Sexual Charges After Demanding Sexual Favors From 30 Tenants In Exchange For Housing Aid

A landlord in New Jersey, 75-year-old Joseph Centanni, has been slapped with more than three dozen sex charges after demanding sexual acts and favors from 30 tenants, who have low income, in trade for housing aid, according to prosecutors.

The New York Post reports that the Union County Prosecutor’s Office says Centanni

“was charged last week in a 42-count indictment that includes 23 counts of second-degree sexual assault and 19 counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact.”

Centanni possessed 18-low income properties in   Elizabeth, New Jersey. Between 2012 and 2022, the landlord bribed both men and women between the ages of 22 and 61 to commit unwanted sexual favors.

    According to a statement,

“the defendant allegedly solicited the sex acts from his victims as a quid pro quo, agreeing to offer them rent reductions, a delay in an eviction, or other forms of financial assistance in exchange.”

    The statement continued,

“He also purportedly threatened tenants who hesitated or refused his advances with eviction or other retaliatory measures.”

The landlord was taken into custody back in June 2021; however, is currently

“free on court-ordered pretrial monitoring pending the outcome of his case,”

reports the New York Post.  One year ago, the Justice Department said he consented to pay $4.5 million to settle a Fair Housing Act lawsuit sought to safeguard tenants from discrimination and harassment. As part of the settlement, Centanni sold all of his properties as he has also been banned from managing and owning residential properties. Reports added that he did not admit to anything in the

    “settling lawsuit.”

The lawsuit, which was filed by the Department of Justice back in 2020 says, Centanni, subjected potential tenants as well as tenants to

     “severe or pervasive sexual harassment.”

He mandated oral sex from tenants as well as inappropriately touching them without their permission in trade for

    “rental assistance”

    to remain in their homes.

According to The Post, the $4.8 million he consented to pay will be distributed to the victims through a

    “compensation fund.”

Woman Arrested After Allegedly Poisoning Veterinarian Husband’s Coffee With Animal Euthanasia Drugs

A woman in Madison, Wisconsin has been charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide after allegedly poisoning her veterinarian husband with animal euthanasia drugs on three separate occasions in July and August.

In March of last year, Amanda and Gary Chapin were married. After the wedding, the bride forged the signature of one of her husband’s children on a power-of-attorney document and demanded that the groom amend his house dead so that she would get their home if he were to die. Less than three weeks later, she began poisoning his coffee, People reported.

After the third alleged poisoning, the newlywed fell into a coma that lasted four days. Blood work showed that drugs the veterinarian would use to euthanize animals were in his system. After Mr. Chapin’s son discovered this, he filed a restraining order against his new stepmother on his incapacitated father’s behalf.

The following month, Amanda Chapin violated the restraining order by emailing her husband a suicide note. She claimed to be distraught by the accusations and write that she planned to take her own life. “The only thing I am guilty of is loving you SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH,” she wrote. After being transported to a nearby hospital, Mrs. Chapin survived the attempt. Gary Chapin filed for divorce the next day.

On December 28th, Amanda Chapin was arrested by the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office and is being held on a $10,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear in court on January 12th.
