A 15-year-old boy is accused of shooting and killing a 54-year-old man in Brooklyn on Wednesday, police report, per Pix 11 News.  The victim, Darryl McMillan from Queens, was shot in the chest at 751 Monroe Street in Bedford-Stuyvesant around 3:40 p.m. He was taken to Kings County Hospital but later died from his injuries.  The teenager, whose name has not been released due to his age, was arrested on Thursday afternoon. Husband Dies In Pregnant Wife’s Arms After Being Shot While Confronting Car Vandals

A 37-year-old man was shot and killed after he confronted some people he thought were acting suspiciously on his street in Houston, reports The Independent. He leaves behind his wife, who is eight months pregnant, and two children.  The incident occurred on August 10 at around 12:30 AM. The man, named Osvaldo Casas, had noticed a black car in the neighborhood the night before and reported that one of their cars had been damaged. That night, a neighbor also called the police about the same black car driving slowly in the area. When Casas approached the suspicious vehicle, shots were fired, and he was hit several times and fell to the ground. His wife, Judith Molina, who is also expecting a baby boy next month, ran to him and tried to give him CPR. “I did it for maybe like 10 minutes until the police arrived, and they took over, but by that time I already knew he was gone. I knew he was gone,” Molina told the outlet. “She tried to give him CPR, and he died in her hands,” Casas’s mother, Blanca Aguirre, told KHOU11. Philadelphia Barbershop Owner Arrested After Fatally Shooting Neighbor Who Called Him The N-Word, Reports Say

Maurice Byrd, aged 41, has been arrested and charged with the murder of Stephen Strassburg, aged 37. The incident took place outside Razor Reese’s Salon and Spa in Hatboro, Pennsylvania, per NBC Philadelphia.  According to a news release from Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele and Hatboro Police Chief Mark Ruegg, Strassburg was found by Hatboro police officers in the salon’s parking lot on Saturday, June 8, 2024. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.  Police reports state that Strassburg was shot in the face, shoulder, and back. The details were revealed in a criminal complaint obtained by NBC10 on Monday. “A joint investigation into the homicide by Montgomery County Detectives and Hatboro Police found that there was an ongoing dispute between the defendant and the victim, who lived above Razor Reese’s, which is owned by Byrd,” the DA’s office and police said in an initial news release. Byrd told the 911 operator that he was being “verbally assaulted” by a white man who was calling him a “dirty N-word,” according to the affidavit of probable cause. “While on the phone with the 911 dispatcher, Strassburg can be heard saying ‘what are you going to do, you going to shoot me (N-word),’” the criminal complaint said. “Byrd then says, ‘I just had to shoot him,’” the criminal complaint continued. “The dispatcher asks, ‘did you hit him’ to which Byrd responds, ‘yes I did.’” “Strassburg did not have a weapon at the time of the shooting,” authorities said. Maurice Byrd has been arrested on charges of first-degree murder, third-degree murder, and possession of a weapon. Minneapolis Officer, Hailed As A ‘Hero’ In His Community, Tragically Killed While Assisting A Mass Shooting Suspect Who Pretended To Be A Victim

In a tragic incident, a Minneapolis police officer was killed in an ambush-style attack while trying to assist a suspect who had initially posed as a victim in need of medical help, as reported by the NY Post.  Officer Jamal Mitchell, only 28 years old, had responded to a mass shooting in the city’s Whittier neighborhood. Despite the danger, he rushed to aid victims a few blocks away from the reported shooting location. Unfortunately, the person he tried to help turned out to be the suspect who fatally shot him. Another officer arrived and engaged in a shootout with the gunman, resulting in the suspect’s death at the scene.  Mitchell was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. The second officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released. In addition to the officers, an innocent bystander and a Minneapolis firefighter were also shot and are in critical condition at a local hospital.  The incident unfolded when police received a call about a double shooting at an apartment complex in the Whittier neighborhood. Authorities discovered two individuals who had been shot inside an apartment. UPS Driver Gunned Down by Childhood Friend While Delivering Packages

A UPS employee in Southern California has been charged with shooting and killing his friend and coworker, as reported by the Huff Post. The incident happened while the employee, Rhean Jalipa Fontanoza, 46, was on work disability. Fontanoza asked another UPS driver about his friend, Expedito De Leon’s route, and then looked it up on the computer at a local UPS substation to confirm. Fontanoza then drove up to De Leon’s truck in a car that De Leon wouldn’t recognize and shot him 14 times.  Fontanoza fled the scene but was later found and arrested by the police. The motive for the shooting is still unknown. “The depravity involved to plot and carry out a plan to execute someone you shared a lifetime of memories is not something anyone of us can wrap our heads around,” Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer said in the release. Authorities in Arizona are currently conducting an investigation into the tragic death of a 13-year-old boy. The incident occurred when Khalil Robinson, along with two other juveniles, was inside a car, People reported.  It is believed that they may have been filming a TikTok video at the time of the shooting. The Sierra Vista Police Department has confirmed the details of the incident, which took place on April 4th in Sierra Vista, Arizona. “It was possible they were making a TikTok video,” Scott Borgstadt, the department’s public information officer, tells PEOPLE, “but we haven’t been able to confirm it yet.” According to local news sources, the police received multiple reports of a shooting on April 4. Robinson passed away the following day at a hospital in Tucson, Arizona. The police spokesperson, Borgstadt, stated that one of the three boys involved in the incident is believed to be responsible for the shooting, although it remains uncertain whether it was accidental or intentional. Officer Fatally Shoots 17-Year-Old During Welfare Check, Reports Say

A tragic incident occurred in Nebraska when a police officer fatally shot a teenager during a welfare check on Tuesday, reports ABC News. Stepson Fatally Shot Stepfather For ‘Brake Checking’ Him In Deadly Road Rage Incident, Police Say

A 20-year-old man from Arizona has been arrested for the fatal shooting of his 32-year-old stepfather, per Law & Crime. The incident occurred during a road rage altercation that was sparked by the stepfather “brake checking” the younger man. Jorge Adrian Ramirez was taken into custody and now faces charges of second-degree murder and unlawfully discharging a firearm. The Phoenix Police Department responded to the shooting incident on February 3, following reports of gunfire near West Hadley Street. Emergency responders found the stepfather, Jose Angel Ruiz Leyva, suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical attention, Leyva did not survive his injuries. Surveillance footage from the area showed a vehicle believed to be involved in the incident leaving the scene. The driver of that vehicle was identified as Ramirez, who was later located and arrested without incident. During a post-arrest interview, Ramirez confessed to the murder. He revealed that he had been arguing with his stepfather before the attack.  As the argument escalated, Ramirez claimed he removed himself however, Leyva followed him outside and repeatedly brake-checked him while driving. Ramirez confronted Leyva at an intersection, firing seven shots into his vehicle before fleeing the scene in his own car. Ramirez stated that he used his mother’s gun, not his own, to carry out the shooting.  He also alleged that his motivation for killing Leyva stemmed from his stepfather’s physical abuse towards his mother, a claim that his mother confirmed to the police. Man Arrested After Killing Sex Offender, Said Police Were Not Doing Enough

A 24-year-old man from Alvin, Texas, is facing a murder charge after allegedly posing as a minor to lure and kill a sex offender, according to court records per ABC Houston. James Lewis Spencer III was arrested on January 31, following an incident where an unresponsive man was found with multiple gunshot wounds in a ditch. The victim, identified as a 37-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigation revealed that the victim believed he was meeting a minor for sexual activities. Cellphone records indicated that Spencer had posed as a minor and arranged the meeting, placing him at the crime scene.  The police confirmed that Spencer admitted to owning the phone number used for communication with the victim. Information about Spencer’s public defender is not currently available. Video shows a car driving up and someone firing “a string of rapid gunshots” at the victim, police said. Spencer wanted to “rob and harm those types of men because they would do bad things to little children,” a third party told police. Spencer said he knew how to track people using a phone app, and “if the cop were not going to do anything maybe he should kill them himself,” records show.
