Homeless Man Arrested For Reportedly Attempting To Kidnap Child, Police Say

A homeless man was arrested for reportedly trying to kidnap an 11-year-old boy from outside his home in Alliance, Ohio, as reported by the NY Post. The suspect identified as 39-year-old Joshua Freyermuth, was wearing a blond wig, makeup, pearls, and high heels when he was taken into custody.

According to the police, he approached the boy and his dog on Sunday and tried to get the boy to come with him. This happened just a few days after he was released from jail following a drug bust.

“I need to talk to you,”

Freyermuth allegedly told the boy, the police report stated.

Police say Freyermuth, who is sometimes called Vicky and had makeup smudged on his face in his mugshot, reportedly tried to grab the boy. The boy was able to break free, and Freyermuth fled on foot, according to the police.

“When he grabbed my son’s arm, my dog attacked him and then he stumbled back off the stairs,”

the victim’s father, Zachery Thurmond, told the local outlet.

“He kicked his heels off, my son said he had white high heels on, and then he took off running down the street.”

Freyermuth was caught shortly after the incident. His arrest happened just two days after he was arrested on drug charges for having meth in his car but was let go. In that incident, police had stopped him because they received reports of someone driving around trying to talk to kids. The suspect’s bail was set at $100,000.

  • Homeless Woman Living Inside Supermarket Store Sign With Computer and Coffee Maker

Homeless Woman Living Inside Supermarket Store Sign With Computer and Coffee Maker

Contractors in Michigan found a woman living inside a grocery store sign with a computer, printer, and coffee maker, per AP News

    “She was homeless,”

Officer Brennon Warren of the Midland Police Department said Thursday.

“It’s a story that makes you scratch your head, just somebody living up in a sign.”

The woman, whose identity remains undisclosed, informed the police that she had been residing within the Family Fare sign for approximately a year. She was found on April 23. The Family Fare store is located in Midland, Detroit in a retail strip, with a distinct triangle-shaped sign positioned at the top of the building.

The sign structure, measuring around 5 feet wide and 8 feet high, features a door and can be accessed from the roof, as stated by Warren per the outlet.

“There was some flooring that was laid down. A mini desk,”

    he said.

“Her clothing. A Keurig coffee maker. A printer and a computer — things you’d have in your home.”

According to Warren, the woman managed to obtain electricity by connecting a power cord to an outlet on the roof. Warren suggested that the woman may have found an alternative route to the roof by climbing up from behind the store or neighboring retail establishments.

“I honestly don’t know how she was getting up there. She didn’t indicate, either,”

    he said.

Warren mentioned that the woman was cooperative and willingly agreed to leave. No charges were pressed against her.

“We provided her with some information about services in the area,”

    the officer said.

“She apologized and continued on her way. Where she went from there, I don’t know.”

Shortly before midnight on Friday, a light-colored pickup truck traveling in the wrong direction on San Fernando Road collided with the victim as he was crossing the street, according to the police. The impact caused the man to fall, but he was seen trying to get back on his feet.

“He was breathing…He was trying to get up. And, even after then, he was hit again on the other side of the street,”

    said Khalil.

“What would they have thought if that was one of their family members? I don’t know what kind of souls these people have, but I’m guessing they don’t.”

The man was later hit by another driver operating a light-colored SUV. The force of the impact caused the victim to fly several feet away. Shortly after, a dark-colored SUV struck the man, seemingly dragging him along, as reported by Amgad. Amgad said he did not initially witness the accidents but rushed over to help when he saw the video footage.

“I walked up to him, put the light on him. He wasn’t breathing,”

    Amgad told the outlet.

The man, believed to be in his 20s or 30s, frequently walked around the neighborhood with a blanket, according to Amgad.

California Jogger Recorded Video Of Himself Shooting and Killing A Homeless Man, Prosecutors Claim

According to Orange County prosecutors, a man in California has been accused of recording himself shooting and killing a homeless individual while out jogging, per Insider

The suspect, Craig Sumner Elliott, 68, came across Antonio Garcia Avalos, 40, who was sleeping on the sidewalk. In an attempt to wake Avalos, Elliott used his pushcart to nudge him, but Avalos woke up and yelled at him to leave. It is alleged that Elliott then started filming the encounter and pulled out a handgun.

Prosecutors claim that the video shows Avalos throwing a shoe at Elliott, who managed to dodge it but then proceeded to shoot Avalos three times. Tragically, Avalos succumbed to his injuries.

“He tried to attack me, and I shot him,”

witness Sebastian Bona told KCAL News.

The suspect has been arrested and charged with voluntary manslaughter. He has since been released on bail and is now awaiting arraignment on December 15.

“This is a tragic set of circumstances that unfolded in the worst possible way over a minor inconvenience of a blocked sidewalk, and a man is dead as a result,”

said Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer.

“This case is a stark reminder that taking the law into your own hands is never the answer and that there are consequences for your actions.”

  • Man Arrested After Saving Woman From Subway Mugging With Warning Shot, Police Say

Man Arrested After Saving Woman From Subway Mugging With Warning Shot, Police Say

A New York man has been arrested  for allegedly firing shots on a subway platform on Tuesday night, reports Fox News

The incident occurred when a 49-year-old homeless man attempted to mug a 40-year-old woman near the exit. The NYPD identified the suspect as 43-year-old John Rote and managed to apprehend him on Wednesday afternoon. Rote reportedly overheard the mugger, Matthew Roesch, demanding money from the woman.

To intervene, Rote fired shots, but fortunately, no one was injured. Surveillance images show Rote calmly leaving the scene with a tote bag, a green bookbag, and a tablet. He now faces multiple charges.

“I want to be clear: we don’t tolerate this kind of conduct in NYC Transit, period,”

the city’s top transit official, Richard Davey, said in a statement after Rote’s arrest.

“Once again cameras recorded a perpetrator, and we are grateful the NYPD made an arrest within hours. Thank goodness nobody was hurt here – but what occurred was outrageous, reckless, and unacceptable.”

Transit crime in the city has decreased by 3.6% this year, following a surge during the pandemic and George Floyd protests. However, compared to last year, crime rates are still 29% higher.

Some attacks have been brutal, with travelers being shoved in front of moving subway cars. Last month, Sabir Jones, a 39-year-old repeat offender with mental health issues, was arrested for pushing a woman into a departing train, causing life-threatening injuries. Over the past two years, 37 people, including Michelle Go at Times Square station, have been pushed onto subway tracks, according to FOX 5 New York.

  • Man Who Received Services From The Salvation Army Accused Of Setting The Building On Fire After Claims Of Feeling Mistreated By Staff

Man Who Received Services From The Salvation Army Accused Of Setting The Building On Fire After Claims Of Feeling Mistreated By Staff

A man, who had been receiving assistance from The Salvation Army in Florida for several months, reportedly set fire to the charity’s building just as it was preparing for its busiest season, reports Law and Crime.

Kissimmee police and fire crews were alerted to the scene on Monday evening, where they found the building engulfed in smoke and flames. Witnesses indicated that the fire may have been intentionally started.

Responding officers approached a man named Cordearo Mable, 37, who was standing in close proximity.

“I’m most likely going to jail,”

Mable told an officer at the scene.

“You’re going to have to process me in a second.”

When the officer asked him why, he allegedly replied,

    “I did it.”

The officer asked Mable what he meant, and he allegedly said,

“That sh– is burning right now.”

According to a probable cause arrest affidavit obtained by Law and Crime, Mable reportedly expressed to the police that he had been feeling mistreated by one of the few establishments in Kissimmee that provided support to homeless individuals. The document stated that an employee at the facility informed Mable that his

    “services were complete,”

leading to his eviction on Monday morning.

Mable reacted angrily to this and told staff they would

    “all burn up”

    and

“I’m setting the Salvation Army on fire.”

The employee contacted the authorities who later arrived at the scene. Mable reportedly warned staff and police saying,

“Arrest me now, or you are going to have to do it later because I will get my revenge.”

Mable reportedly returned to the building.

He told officers that he broke in after he had found a rock near the train tracks and stolen a bottle of lighter fluid. He admitted to pouring the fluid throughout the hallways and side offices, igniting it with a lighter. As a result of these actions, Mable has been arrested and charged with arson and burglary.

  • Miami Beach Passes Law That Allows The Arrest Of Homeless People Who Refuse To Be Put In A Shelter

Miami Beach Passes Law That Allows The Arrest Of Homeless People Who Refuse To Be Put In A Shelter

It looks like Miami Beach has passed a regulation that allows officials to apprehend homeless people who refuse to be put in a shelter, reports the New York Post. The law was passed by the Miami Beach City Commissioner on Wednesday following a debate between objectors and supporters of the bill. Kristen Gonzalez, a commissioner who argued in favor of the law, revealed that residents aren’t able to visit local parks due to them being occupied by homeless locals.

    The commissioner said,

“These are people that we see selling drugs, having sex outdoors, naked…There’s defecation, there’s masturbation in front of our children in parks, open containers and parties, and screaming. They’re harassing and they are stabbing. And they are refusing any services”

    She continued,

“We want to help people… But if people don’t want to help themselves, the state and federal government have given us no option except for this ordinance.”

The Post reported that Mayor Dan Gelber supported the law and revealed that the city spends $7.5 million per year on multiple services for the community’s homeless residents, which is around 150.

While some local officials agreed with the law, other individuals opposed it. Matthew Marr, a sociology associate professor at Florida International University said the new law

    “criminalized”

    homelessness.

“Arresting people for being unsheltered will just saddle them with more barriers to obtain housing. Being arrested can be traumatic,”

    he said.

Kat Duesterhaus, a local activist, argued that the newly implemented law was discriminatory as most of the homeless residents were black.

    Duesterhaus said,

“This ordinance is cruel, racist and harmful.”

  • San Francisco Neighborhood In Shock As Homeless Man Displays ‘Free Fentanyl For New Users’ Sign On His Tent Home

San Francisco Neighborhood In Shock As Homeless Man Displays ‘Free Fentanyl For New Users’ Sign On His Tent Home

A homeless man in San Francisco has sparked outrage in his community after placing two signs outside his tent home that read,

    “Free fentanyl 4 new users,”

    and

    “Meth for stolen items,”

    reports FOX News

The man’s name is Joseph Adam Moore and according to the Chronicle, he

“identified himself as a registered sex offender.”

    Reports reveal that

“court records from Santa Cruz County show he was convicted of unlawful sex with a minor in 1997 — and declined to say whether he carries illicit drugs.”

Moore has reportedly faced five arrests since 2007 due to his failure to notify authorities about his address.

    He asked reporters,

“It’s happening, right? Why can’t I do it?”

    referring to the illicit drugs.

    “Is this sacred ground?”

Nathaniel Weiner, a parent in the neighborhood, said Moore’s tent attracted

“up to a half dozen people who ‘made the curb their home.’”

    He said,

“People brought barbecues, a beach umbrella, and even a dune buggy that sat on the pavement,”

Weiner claims. He said the drug users would

“[create] a Burning Man-style party ‘in [the] quiet residential neighborhood where people are just trying to live their lives.’”

According to the Chronicle, Moore has been getting into frequent arguments with police lately. However, the police in San Francisco couldn’t find any reports of incidents at Moore’s campsite, and there haven’t been any records of Moore getting arrested in the past three months, as per a spokesperson.

He remains at his post, which is reportedly located near, Stella Maris Academy, a San Francisco Catholic school, and a public library.

  • Florida Woman Who’s Lifeless Body was Discovered In Alligator’s Mouth Was Previously Arrested For Trespassing Two Months Earlier

Florida Woman Who’s Lifeless Body was Discovered In Alligator’s Mouth Was Previously Arrested For Trespassing Two Months Earlier

A woman’s lifeless body was discovered in the grasp of a 14-foot alligator. The victim has been identified as 41-year-old Sabrina Peckham, a homeless woman who had a history of run-ins with the law, reports the NY Post. Just two months prior to her untimely death, Peckham was arrested for trespassing on county wetland property.

According to court records, Pinellas County deputies caught Peckham trespassing on July 14, just half a mile from where her body was found. Despite warning signs, she ignored the restrictions and was ultimately charged with a misdemeanor. After pleading no contest, she was released from the county on September 8 and ordered to pay a $500 fine.

Peckham also had convictions for drug possession and theft, reports note. Medical examiners are currently working to determine whether the alligator attack was the cause of her death.

The incident was first reported by a witness on his way to a job interview, who spotted the massive alligator carrying Peckham’s body in a canal along a residential street. He immediately alerted the nearby fire department, who swiftly took action. Authorities made the decision to euthanize the alligator, which measured 13 feet and 8.5 inches in length. Some neighbors claimed that the reptile was shot multiple times after being pulled from the water.

The area where the incident occurred is close to Ridgecrest Park, which is known to be home to alligators. Residents have reported regular sightings of these creatures, but the alligator responsible for Peckham’s death was one of the largest they had ever encountered.
