    Epidemic Of Raccoons Infected With Rabies On Long Island Forced Officials To Distribute Fishy-Smelling Vaccine Baits To Stop Spread

    To combat rising rabies cases among raccoons on Long Island, Nassau County will distribute fishy-smelling bait containing the rabies vaccine in outdoor areas. From April 21 to May 2, a slow-moving government truck will drop these baits in places like Massapequa, Farmingdale, Bethpage, Elmont, Valley Stream, and popular parks and museums, according to the New York Post. 

    Nassau County officials stated that the bait will have a fishy smell to attract raccoons. The vaccines will be contained in clear bags that look like fast-food ketchup packets.

    This containment effort follows the discovery of a fourth rabid raccoon in Amityville, near Massapequa in Suffolk County, which tested positive for rabies on April 11. 

    Suffolk County Department of Health Services Commissioner, Dr. Gregson Pigott, said, “We are very concerned that rabies is spreading along our western border.. We are exploring options to curtail further spread, including the deployment of oral rabies vaccine for the raccoon population.”

    Elderly Woman Stranded In Puerto Rico When Airline Denied Her Emotional Support Parrot From Boarding

    An elderly woman from the Bronx is stranded in Puerto Rico after an airline would not let her board her flight home with her emotional support animal, which is a parrot. 81-year-old Maria Fraterrigo is stuck on the island with her African Gray parrot, Plucky, as Frontier Airlines refused to transport her pet back to the U.S. Fraterrigo expressed her desire to return home, saying, “I don’t ask for much,” the distraught woman informed ABC7, per the New York Post. 

    The 10-ounce bird was not a problem for the grandmother on her flight from JFK to #PuertoRico on Jan. 4. She boarded the Frontier flight with her TSA-approved carrier for Plucky. However, on April 5, after clearing security at Luis Munoz Marin International Airport, Fraterrigo was denied entrance at the gate.

    An airport staffer allegedly instructed the woman to “get rid” of her bird, which was authorized as a service animal, to board her flight. Her son, #RobertFraterrigo, shared with ABC7 that the employee told her, “You won’t be able to make the flight. Get rid of your bird and give it to somebody.” 

    Robert reached out to Frontier Airlines through online chat, but they only offered a $190 ticket refund and no assistance.

    “My mother did nothing wrong and she just needs to be taken care of and sent home… She didn’t want anything else but to go home and no one wants to help,” said the son. 

    After her husband Richard passed away from 9/11-related cancer, the elderly woman grew close to her emotional support bird, Plucky.

    NYC Woman Who Struck Pro-Life Activist in the Face Says She Was Provoked into Violence

    The woman who punched a pro-life reporter in the face during a recorded interview issued an apology on Saturday. However, she argued that her “antagonistic” target provoked her into the act of violence, per the NY Post.

    Brianna Rivers, from the Bronx, acknowledged that she was in the wrong for hitting Savannah Craven Antao, a reporter for the pro-life organization Live Action.

    “To Savannah, I sincerely apologize but cannot sit around and allow you to continue pushing this one sided narrative. I understand hands being put on someone is never the answer, but throwing rocks and hiding hands is worse,” Rivers wrote in a Facebook post. “She knows the truth and she needs to release the footage in its entirety. Savannah is a professional antagonist not a ‘reporter’ and the truth will be told.”

    Rivers Shares Her Side of the Story

    Rivers posted a message claiming that Craven Antao was deliberately provoking her during their street interview in Harlem. In the video, Craven Antao continually interrupted Rivers while she was speaking. Rivers also alleged that Craven Antao edited the video to omit what she referred to as “relentless antagonization” and the moments that led up to the punch.

    “I will not allow my image to be defamed by this woman’s actions. Anyone who knows me knows how respectful I am, I don’t even litter, there’s no way you believe I’m punching people for disagreeing with my POV,” wrote Rivers. In the video, Antao can be heard accusing Rivers of being “OK with killing babies in foster care and killing children that have been abused.”

    “That’s not the point. What I’m saying is …” Rivers said before throwing a series of punches straight at Craven Antao’s face before walking away. The conservative influencer, known for posting videos that mock and criticize progressive women, ended up with a black eye, two stitches below her eyebrow, considerable pain in her nose, and a significant emotional toll, she told The Post.

    Man Taken Into Custody for Alleged Bomb Threat Against Saturday Night Live Venue in NYC, Police Say

    A man has been taken into custody after a bomb threat was made in New York City, with reports indicating that the target was the Saturday Night Live studios, per PEOPLE.

    The New York Police Department (NYPD) confirmed to PEOPLE that they received a report of a bomb threat around 7 a.m. local time on Tuesday, April 1. They also stated that Michael Branham, a resident of Glen Head, N.Y., has been arrested in connection with the investigation. 

    Public court records reveal that Branham, 48, was arrested on Wednesday, April 2, facing charges of making a threat of mass harm and filing a false report. He has pleaded not guilty to both charges, with bail set at $100,000.

    As reported by NBC News, Branham is accused of communicating a threat to the SNL studios located at 30 Rockefeller Center to a college in Connecticut, which then informed law enforcement. The report also stated that authorities determined the threat was not credible.

    Fake New York City Doctor Leaves Woman Brain Dead Following Failed Attempt To Remove Butt Implants

    A fake doctor,  Felipe Hoyos-Foronda, is under fire after leaving a patient brain dead following a failed attempt at removing her butt implants, which was done at his illegal liposuction clinic in his Queens home, per the New York Post. The 31-year-old patient, went to his illegal clinic on Friday at approximately 1 p.m to have her butt implants removed. 

    However, during the procedure, he gave the woman lidocaine through a syringe, which caused her to go into cardiac arrest, according to a criminal complaint. The victim was quickly transported to Mount Sinai in Queens where she was reported to be in crucial condition. She indicated no brain activity, and showed signs of “lidocaine toxicity.”

    When the unamed victim was at the hospital, her friend stopped by the  clinic to grab her items. The landlord informed her about the incident, leading her to contact officials. When officials arrived at the illegal clinic, they talked to the landlord. The landlord gave them a photo of the phony doctor. Reports say Hoyos-Foronda fled in his car after the victim was taken to the hospital. 

    Officials tracked his license plate which led them to his vacant car at the Van Wyck Expressway. He was later apprehended and charged when Port Authority officials captured him trying to get on a plane at JFK airport. He is currently facing multiple charges including second-degree assault and unauthorized practice of a profession. 

    Reports mentioned that he claimed to be a doctor in Colombia. Sadly, the woman remains unconscious. Officials released his photo to the public, urging potential victims to come forward.

    Sadly, a 21-year-old woman was sexually assaulted while walking alone in Brooklyn Heights on Sunday. The incident is under investigation by the officials, per the New York Post. The unnamed man approached her from behind as she walked near the Brooklyn Bridge close to 7:50 a.m on Sunday, officials said. 

    He wrapped his legs around hers and went on to sexually assualt her. The unnamed suspect then fled towards the bridge. Officials were still searching for him on Tuesday. 

    A photo of the suspect was released to the public which showcased him sporting red sweatpants, white sneakers, and a black jacket as he held his phone.

    Remains Discovered In California As 13-Year-Old NYC Girl Who Vanished 50 Years Ago

    Human remains discovered in a California river have been confirmed to belong to 13-year-old Laura O’Malley from New York who went missing 50 years ago. The partial skeleton was discovered near a highway in Watsonville almost 30 years back. Initial DNA tests indicated the remains were female, but recent advanced testing has identified the remains as O’Malley, who was reported missing in Aug. 1975, according to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, per the New York Post. 

    The Sherrif’s office said, “it is not known when, or under what circumstances, Laura O’Malley arrived in California.” 

    It‘s unclear how she died. 

    The teen was identified after the cold case was reopened back in 2019, using new forensic methods like carbon dating. These tests suggested she was born in the 1960s and likely died between 1977 and 1984, per officials. In 2022, advanced genetic testing contributed to identifying potential relatives, ultimately confirming that the remains belonged to the New York girl who had been missing for years.

    After O’Malley went missing, her siblings, including two sisters and a brother, searched for her for years, sharing her photo around Manhattan, where they thought she might be. The sheriff’s office expressed gratitude for finally giving her family answers.

    On Wednesday afternoon, an allegedly homeless man in his 30s died after being struck by a northbound E train at the Fifth Avenue-53rd Street subway station in Manhattan. A conductor saw him on the tracks moments before the shocking encounter. Medics pronounced him dead shortly after, per the New York Post. 

    An MTA staffer told the news outlet, “He was a homeless man,” adding, “Do you think we want to see this?”

    The identity of the man has yet to be released, and officials suspect no foul play.

    Man Assaulted After Refusing To Swipe MetroCard For Stranger In NYC

    A man, 55, was sadly, assaulted in a New York City subway station after he declined to swipe his MetroCard for someone else, per the NYPD. The assault occurred around 9 p.m. on March 17 at the station on 23rd Street, reports Pix11. 

    Officials reported that an unknown person requested for the victim to swipe a Metro Card. However, once the victim refused, the person pushed him to the ground. The victim fell and hit his head on the turnstile, which resulted in a cut.

    The suspect then ran away from the station. Officials showcased surveillance footage of the individual. Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment.

    Drug Dealer From Long Island Indicted For Dog Fighting and Selling ‘Enough Fentanyl To Kill’ Over 65K People

    Officials charged a Long Island drug dealer named Kevin Brown, 39, after finding over 1,000 pills, including 771 containing fentanyl, at his Hempstead home. This amount could potentially kill over 65,000 people. He was also charged with weapons and dog fighting offenses after officials discovered a loaded handgun, seven pit bulls in poor conditions used for dog fighting at his residence, ketamine, and more fentanyl pills. Prosecutors estimate the pills’ street value at $34,000, per the New York Post. 

    “Selling dangerous drugs is often associated with the cruelty of dogfighting, and this defendant allegedly possessed and sold pills containing enough fentanyl to kill more than 65,000 people while also housing, breeding, and training seven pit bulls to fight,” Attorney Anne T. Donnelly from Nassau District mentioned in a press release. 

    In September 2024, police and the DEA began investigating Brown following an overdose at his home on Willow Avenue. After two months of watching him, they raided his property and found malnourished dogs in filthy crates, with six chained up.

    A pit bull with cropped ears was found in a backyard along with dog fighting equipment. Seven dogs, including two females used for breeding, had severe scars from fighting. After a few months, two of the dogs have now been adopted.

    Five animals are available for adoption at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter. Brown appeared cheerful in Nassau County Court, where he pleaded not guilty. Bail was set at $100,000, and he was ordered not to have pets. He has since been released. His lawyer claimed he was not involved. 

    Marck Gann, his attorney said, “He’s a family man, he’s married. He’s got kids.”
