  • Four Teens Who Jumped Elderly Woman In NYC Train Station Have Been Charged

Four Teens Who Jumped Elderly Woman In NYC Train Station Have Been Charged

Four teenage girls were apprehended for attacking a 71-year-old woman during a failed New Year’s Day robbery in a Brooklyn subway station. The woman, who was headed to church, bravely fought back. The teens, aged 13 to 15, were charged with robbery, assault, and harassment for the Jan. 1 incident against Linda Rosa, per the New York Post

One of the 15-year-old girls previously faced charges for allegedly assaulting a Queens officer in September. The others had no prior records. The recent crime began when they attempted to snatch Rosa’s purse at Hoyt Street after she exited a No. 3 train.

A fight broke out when a girl punched Rosa in her face, cutting her nose. Rosa fell, was stomped on; however, she was able to stand and grab two girls while calling for assistance. She was treated at The Brooklyn Hospital Center and expressed appreciation for not being more seriously injured. Despite forgiving the teens, Rosa believes the teens should still be held accountable.

    She said,

“They don’t know the consequences of their actions until this happened, and now they have to pay for it – because we all have to pay for our choices.”

Criminal Who Reportedly Attacked An Elderly Man For Tripping Over His Foot Was Freed Without Bail

A man accused of assaulting an elderly man on a train in Lower Manhattan was released without bail, although he has a long arrest history, The New York Post reports. 44-year-old Johnson Earl, who has been apprehended 14 times, was recently charged with second-degree assault for brutally attacking the 83-year-old victim on Dec. 20 after the man accidentally bumped into his foot.

The following day, Judge Beverly Tatham granted him supervised release on the felony charge, despite prosecutors requesting $75,000 cash bail or a $100,000 bond to guarantee Earl’s “return to court,” said the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.

He reportedly became furious on a southbound No. 5 train near Fulton Street station at about 6:10 a.m. when the victim tripped over his foot, according to officials and the DA’s office. Earl then struck the senior in the face, leading to a fight that ended with him putting the victim in a chokehold and hitting him further, said an assistant district attorney during Earl’s Jan. 2 arraignment.

The assault resulted in the victim suffering facial and head cuts, and he sought treatment at Kings County Hospital Center. Earl was most recently apprehended in July in the Bronx for repeatedly punching a security guard at a 99-cent store, as stated in the complaint. During that incident, he allegedly asked the victim, “Why are you not attending to me?” The case was “adjourned in contemplation of dismissal,” with no clear reason given, and the man was ordered to avoid contact with the victim, per Bronx prosecutors.

The individual has been named as Jaia Cruz, a 24-year-old transgender woman. Cruz is reportedly responsible for the death of Ray Hodges, a USPS employee and father of two. She is now facing murder charges for the killing of Hodges on Thursday.

71-Year-Old Woman Jumped By 4 Teens During Robbery Attempt In NYC Train Station, Woman Says She Fought Back

An elderly woman heading to church on  New Year’s Day was forced to defend herself when a group of teen girls assaulted her amid a failed robbery in a Brooklyn subway station, officials reported. 71-year-old Linda Rosa— who was retired MTA computer worker from East New York, had just exited a No. 3 train at Hoyt Street after 6 p.m. when one of the four girls attempted to snatch her purse, she informed The New York Post Friday.

“And then I [said to myself], ‘Oh, no, this is not going to happen today,’”

    the victim said.

Another teen attempted to grasp the woman’s bag as well and then said,

    “Oh, you want to fight?”

Rosa held firmly onto her purse, which didn’t stop the attempted robbers.

“The first person kept fighting….. She punched me in my face and I have my glasses on, and I have a cut on my nose. When she punched me in my face, my glasses flew to the floor,”

    she continued.

“Meanwhile the other young lady was still trying to distract me to get my pocketbook or go into my purse, to snatch something out of my purse,”

    she added.

The teen managed to snatch a pocket pouch containing Rosa’s ID and medical records, she stated.

“I was still wrestling with the first person.. Then I was trying to kick her in between her legs, but my leg wouldn’t stretch far enough, so I believe that’s when I fell. I fell, and then she stomped on me.”

“I got an impression in me that she was going to stomp me again, but she was going to aim towards my head.. So I got up right away, and with that, I grabbed her braids and twirled them around my right hand, and then I pulled her down. She had her head down. Then the other young lady said, ‘Let her go.’ And I said, ‘Oh, no, I’m not letting her go,’”

    the woman continued.

The elderly woman called out for help when she saw the second teen throw her pocket pouch on the ground and approach her once more.

The woman grabbed the teen’s hair, twisting it around her hand, forcing them both facedown like rams preparing to fight. The other girls shouted for release, but she held on, calling for aid. Eventually, she let go and gathered her belongings. The startled teens fled up the steps as she announced she would call officials.

Rosa was later transported to the hospital in stable condition and is grateful that she wasn’t critically injured.

Man Tries To Slit Ex-Girlfriend’s Throat and Pushes Her Onto Subway Tracks In Front Of Her Teenage Daughters

Prosecutors claimed on Thursday that a convicted child rapist on parole attacked his ex-girlfriend, slashing her and pushing her onto the subway tracks in front of her teenage daughters, as reported by the NY Post.

Michael Blount, 29, was taken into custody on December 28 and faced multiple charges, including attempted murder, after being indicted on January 1. On November 5, Blount began stalking the 37-year-old woman and her daughters at a deli in Harlem. As they tried to escape him, he followed them to the subway platform. Blount reportedly returned to the deli, where he allegedly bought a razor blade before returning to the subway station.

According to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, at around 11 p.m., Blount grabbed the victim by her hair and attempted to slit her throat while she was waiting for the A train at the 125th Street station. Prosecutors stated that the victim tried to shield her neck, but Blount went on to slash her face multiple times. Her daughter was able to pull her mother from the tracks, per District Attorney Alvin Bragg in a statement. She was rescued from the tracks two minutes before the next train arrived.

Prosecutors reported that a bystander called a cab for the family, where she was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital for treatment of her injuries. She suffered severe lacerations and had to undergo plastic surgery. Following the attack, the District Attorney claims that Blount continued calling, and texting, the woman and her daughters for weeks while he evaded police until his arrest this past weekend.
