  • FBI Tip Helps Prevent Indiana Teen Girl’s Valentine’s Day Mass Shooting Plan At Mooresville High School

FBI Tip Helps Prevent Indiana Teen Girl’s Valentine’s Day Mass Shooting Plan At Mooresville High School

Indiana police report that they prevented a mass shooting that an 18-year-old girl was allegedly planning for her high school on Valentine’s Day, per the NY Post. Trinity Shockley was taken into custody this week just days after authorities discovered her plot to attack Mooresville High School, located southwest of Indianapolis.

The FBI provided a tip on Tuesday evening regarding the potential attack, prompting Mooresville police to search Shockley’s home and arrest her. She is currently being held without bail and faces charges of conspiracy to commit murder, making threats of terrorism, and conspiracy to commit intimidation, as reported by Fox 59.

If the plan had succeeded, it would have coincided with the seventh anniversary of the tragic shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, which resulted in the deaths of 17 people in 2018. Shockley had previously been the focus of a community fundraiser in Mooresville after being struck by a drunk driver while on her way to school in 2022.

Leon Howell, 43, reportedly snatched the iPhone of a 51-year-old woman. The violent incident occurred on Tuesday in the basement of a building located at the intersection of Montague and Henry Streets. The police were able to locate him using the victim’s Find My iPhone app, as noted by the sources.

Around 10:50 a.m., the woman was waiting for a taxi in the lobby of a building at Montague and Henry Streets. Howell allegedly approached her claiming to be an immigration officer, according to authorities. He then forced her into an elevator and took her down to the basement, police sources reported.

He reportedly struck her in the face, causing her to fall to the ground. Howell then allegedly removed her pants and underwear until she begged him to stop. The brutal assailant proceeded to take her necklace, cell phone, and purse before fleeing down Montague Street towards Henry Street, according to police. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of her injuries and is said to be in stable condition.

Investigators suspect that the woman may have been targeted due to her ethnicity or race, sources added. Howell was charged with first-degree rape, first-degree robbery, second-degree assault, third-degree burglary, and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, police said. With a criminal history that includes 20 previous arrests, Howell was recently paroled just last month after serving time for the 2017 strangulation of a stranger in Brooklyn, sources revealed.

Long Island Corrections Officer Steals $110K In Payments Intended For Wife’s Back Surgery, DA Says

Authorities report that a corrections officer from Long Island embezzled $110,096 in insurance checks meant for his estranged wife’s back surgery, per the NY Post

Christopher Kowalewski, 49, of Merrick,  allegedly took 11 reimbursement checks from her New York State Empire Plan. It reportedly ranged in amounts from $92,488 to $147, for her March 2022 procedure. Kowalewski allegedly used the money for personal expenses, according to Nassau District Attorney Anne Donnelly.

Kowalewski is said to have cashed two of the checks and deposited the other nine into a joint bank account he held with an unnamed individual. The accused’s plan initially succeeded because he was the policyholder for his wife’s medical account, allowing the out-of-network checks to be issued in his name. United Healthcare, which manages the Empire Plan, distributed the funds from December 2021 to December 2023.

“Public servants are entrusted with doing the right thing, and when they take advantage of the system for personal gain, it hurts everyone,”

Donnelly said in her statement. On Monday, the defendant was charged with second-degree grand larceny and could face a maximum of 15 years in prison.

A former paraprofessional from Colorado is now incarcerated after confessing to sexually assaulting a 16-year-old student, according to PEOPLE. In November, Imagine Kay Ewer, 28, pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a special education student. She received a four-year prison sentence.

She was responsible for the care of this student at Brady Exploration School in Lakewood, as stated by the First Judicial District Attorney’s Office. As part of a plea deal with prosecutors, Ewer admitted to charges of sexual assault on a child by someone in a position of trust and contributing to the delinquency of a minor in the first degree, both of which are felonies. Following her four-year sentence, she will also be subjected to probation under the Sex Offender Intensive Supervision program for a period of ten years to life.

At the sentencing on Friday, January 31, the mother of the victim addressed to the court, stating,

“The defendant preyed on my son, leading him to believe she genuinely cared for him, all while exploiting him for money and manipulating him into thinking he was ‘the one,’”

according to the statement. In court, Special Victims Prosecutor Brynn Chase stated that Ewer introduced the victim to fentanyl, as mentioned in the statement. Ewer even told the victim

“to bring [a] gun to school and shoot another faculty member in the leg,”

Police launched an investigation to which they  found

“evidence of frequent sexual encounters, constant digital communication, inclusive of repeated derogatory remarks directed at the victim, and the introduction of drugs, alcohol, and weapons,”

it said. Ewer was employed by Jefferson County Public Schools from 2015 until 2023. She was arrested in January 2024. She is  charged with sexual assault on a child by someone in a position of trust; sexual exploitation of a child; unlawful electronic sexual communication; and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, online court records show.

A California teenager was sentenced to four years in prison on Tuesday for his role in numerous swatting calls, per Huff Post.

This occurred just before 3 p.m. local time on Wednesday, February 5, during her visit to Daytona Beach with her husband.

While the tourist was seated in her chair, the elderly driver from DeLeon Springs backed her Chevrolet Colorado out of the parking space. She made

  • Minnesota Man Wins Complimentary Norwegian Cruise Vacation, Then Contracts Flu Onboard and Receives $47K Medical Bill

Minnesota Man Wins Complimentary Norwegian Cruise Vacation, Then Contracts Flu Onboard and Receives $47K Medical Bill

A Minnesota man won a free weeklong cruise to the Caribbean for himself and his girlfriend. Unfortunately, he fell ill with the flu on board and was hit with a $47,000 medical bill.

Mike Cameron and his girlfriend, Tamra Masterman, won a complimentary Norwegian cruise from the Grand Casino Hinckley. The cruise departed from Miami on January 5, he shared with The Post. However, what began as a dream vacation quickly turned sour when Cameron contracted the flu.

The sick passenger sought care at the medical center on the Norwegian Encore ship and recovered after three days. As the couple’s Caribbean tour wrapped up, Cameron was stunned to discover he was responsible for the $47,000 medical bill. This unexpected charge came as a shock since crew members had reassured him not to worry while he was receiving treatment.

“I was just flabbergasted by the whole thing,”

    he told Fox 9 News.

“One lady in the medical ward that said that he had the traveler’s insurance and that meant $20,000 of coverage,”

he recalled. The cruise line maxed out two of Cameron’s credit cards, leaving him with an outstanding balance of $21,000. The couple had obtained travel insurance from the cruise line that covers up to $20,000 in expenses, and they also have health insurance.

However, Cameron finds himself in a limbo, with both parties insisting that the other is liable for the bill, he told Fox 9.

“The traveler’s insurance doesn’t want to pay it until we run it by our health insurance. The health insurance doesn’t want to pay it because it’s abroad,”

he explained.  After his experience, Cameron has one important piece of advice for travelers.

“We want people to be aware, if you go on a cruise make sure you got good traveler’s insurance,”

    he cautioned.

“Once you are out on international waters, it’s a whole different story.”
