Senegal’s Political Landscape Shaken: OUSMANE SONKO’s Hospitalization

According To African News, Senegal opposition leader Ousmane Sonko has been admitted to the hospital Sonko has been on hunger strike since he was arrested after a two-year standoff with the government. Aides and one of his lawyers said he was admitted to a hospital emergency on Sunday in Dakar.

Mr Sonko’s lawyers, Ciré Clédor Ly, confirmed this, without commenting on his condition. Mr Sonko, 49, went on hunger strike on 30th July, two days after his arrest. A declared presidential candidate in February 2024, he has been waging a fierce battle with the authorities since 2021, when the courts implicated him in a sex scandal that he denounces as a plot to eliminate him politically.

After several episodes of deadly popular protest and two successive convictions for defamation and

    “corruption of youth”,

He was imprisoned on Monday on various charges, including calling for insurrection, criminal association in connection with a terrorist undertaking and undermining state security. The authorities announced the dissolution of his party on the same day.

Mr Ciré Clédor Ly confirmed that Mr Sonko had written to the courts from prison last week to say that he did not accept his conviction, which his lawyers said was a necessary condition for the judgment to be quashed and a new trial held. The prosecutor, Abdou Karim Diop, denied the day after his arrest that this meant he was no longer in absentia.

Woman Says She Made Makeup In Prison By Using Pepsi and Flour, Applied It By Using Tampon As A Brush

A woman who previously served 17 years behind bars revealed how she made her own makeup from scratch when she was locked up. Taylor uploaded a video to TikTok showcasing all of the ingredients she used to create foundation, which she made out of Pepsi, flour, and a hot cocoa mix.

In the video, Taylor showed viewers her process. The woman started by placing flour in a bowl. From there, she went on to add a cap size of Pepsi, which she explained helps the foundation stick to your face and should be added as needed while mixing. She then continued to add the hot cocoa mix and said that the amount of mix is dependent upon the person’s complexion. She said that if it looks too dark, more flour should be added.

Once the mixture’s texture is consistent, she said you can utilize a tampon to apply the foundation. She said,

“If you want like a makeup brush, you would use a tampon and beat it in your face.”

Taylor then went on to apply the homemade foundation to her tattoo to showcase her creation and show its full coverage.

Taylor’s TikTok video has grown rapidly as the video has over 17 million views with more than 30,000 comments from TikTokers. One TikToker wrote,

Social Media Influencer Mom Sentenced To 90 Days In Jail Almost Three Years After Accusing Latino Couple Of Trying To Kidnap Her Children

A social media influencer falsely accused a Latino couple of attempting to abduct her two children on an Instagram video that went viral. According to FOX, the woman was sentenced to 90 days behind bars for the act, prosecutors say.

31-year-old Kathleen ‘Katie’ Sorensen said the couple tried to kidnap her kids at a Michael’s arts and craft store parking lot in California back on Dec. 7, 2020. The woman went on to file a false police report. One week after she filed the police report, she posted on Instagram and spoke about the alleged kidnap.

    Carla Rodriguez, District Attorney said,

“Ms. Sorensen has been held accountable for her crime, and we believe the Judge handed down a fair sentence… Our hope is that this measure of accountability will help provide some closure to the couple that was falsely accused of having attempted to kidnap two young children.”

Sorensen will be able to serve 60 days of her sentence in a work release program. The woman must also do 12 months of probation, and in that time, she would be banned from having a social media presence.

Woman Charged With Murder After Shooting Uber Driver Because She Thought He Was Trying To Abduct Her

A woman has been charged with murder after shooting her Uber driver last week because she thought he was attempting to kidnap her, PEOPLE reports.

Texas investigators revealed that 52-year-old Phoebe Copas wasn’t in danger adding that the 53-year-old driver, Daniel Piedra Garcia, wasn’t

    “veering from Copas’ destination.”

According to El Paso officials, Copas is being held behind bars on a $1.5 million bond. A relative of the driver revealed that he was sadly taken off life support.

In a GoFundMe post, Garcias’ wife revealed that he was

“the sole provider for our family”

    adding that he

“was very happy to finally be able to work and bring home income.”

The wife continued to write that he was happy to bring in income as a Uber driver after he hurt his knee at another job, which caused him to get surgery back in April.

Copas’ of Kentucky was visiting her boyfriend in Texas when she contacted Uber to take her to see her unnamed beau at a casino after he got off of work, reports KFOX14. Officials say Copas reportedly grew anxious when she allegedly noticed road signs for

    “Juarez, Mexico.”

    Officials added,

“At some point during the drive, Copas thought she was being taken into Mexico and shot Piedra.”

Officials informed KIVA that the woman pulled out a firearm and shot the Uber driver in the back of his head and wrist, which resulted in the car crashing. Before Copas contacted officials, she took a picture of the encounter and forwarded the image to her boyfriend.

“The investigation does not support that a kidnapping took place or that Piedra was veering from Copas’ destination,”

    authorities said.

It’s unclear if the woman entered a plea deal or if she has an attorney to speak on her behalf.

  • FRAUD ALERT: Man Pretending To Be World Famous Psychic Stole Over $175 Million From Victims, Now Faces 280 In Prison

FRAUD ALERT: Man Pretending To Be World Famous Psychic Stole Over $175 Million From Victims, Now Faces 280 In Prison

Patrice Runner faces up to 280 years in prison behind a decades-long fake psychic scheme that stole more than $175 million from vulnerable and elderly Americans. The New York Post reports that the 57-year-old was found guilty of multiple counts of mail fraud, wire fraud, and other related crimes. Each charge holds a maximum prison sentence of 20 years.

The mass-mailing, fraudulent money scheme took place between 1994 and 2014. For twenty years, Runner sent millions of letters impersonating famous psychic Maria Duval. Each promised to provide the targeted victims with good fortune and happiness in exchange for money for

    “psychic services.”

The Washington Post said that a 2014 letter promised the person’s life,

“was going to take a turn for the better,” but to find out more, they must pay $37.50.”

    Another resurfaced letter stated:

“All you have to do to see your life change is grasp the hand of friendship we are holding out to you.”

But apparently, that friendship cost $50.

Though the letters had handwritten statements and personal details about the recipients, they were practically identical in nature. The fraudsters had letters mass-produced so that tens of thousands could be mailed off each week.

Runner acted as the head of the operation behind the scenes. Within his crime organization, he advised his co-conspirators in the day-to-day operations. Their targets were always vulnerable groups, focusing on elderly individuals with dementia and people going through financial hardship.

According to investigators, Runner’s money-making scheme did not involve or include the real Duval. Instead, they found all letters came from conmen who masqueraded as workers for Infogest Direct Marketing, one of Runner’s companies. He attempted to hide his involvement by using several shell companies to keep a low profile.

For over 20 years, Patrice Runner managed a predatory scheme that targeted older Americans by mailing personalized letters to millions of victims purporting to be from a world-renowned psychic. [The] verdict should have come as no surprise to Mr. Runner”

said Inspector in Charge, Chris Nielsen.

  • Arizona Prison Accused Of Inducing The Labor Of Prisoners Against Their Will

Arizona Prison Accused Of Inducing The Labor Of Prisoners Against Their Will

Perryville Prison in Buckeye, Arizona is accused of inducing the labor of pregnant prisoners against their will, the Arizona Republic reported.

Three women incarcerated at the prison have come forward claiming they were forced by prison medical staff to have their labor induced before their due dates. Two of the women, Stephanie Pearson and Desiree Romero were induced at 39 weeks in 2022, according to medical records obtained by The Arizona Republic. The third accuser, Jocelyn Heffner says she was induced in her 37th week on two separate occasions during two separate incarcerations in 2020 and 2022.

The women said they were told by the prison medical providers that this was the

    “Arizona Department of Corrections policy.”

The women say they were given no further explanation. Heffner told the outlet,

“I felt like I was viewed as a liability, and walking around a prison yard nine months pregnant didn’t comfort this state institution.”

The Arizona Department of Corrections did not respond to a request for comment, the Arizona Republic reported. NaphCare, which took over the prison’s health care contract in October, has maintained its innocence, however.

“Any decision to induce is solely the patient’s choice,”

NaphCare’s spokesperson told the Arizona Republic
