    Police Searching For Group Who Committed Flash Mob Burglary At Macy’s Store In Arcadia

    Police are searching for a group of at least five suspects who were seen ransacking a Macy’s store in Arcadia on Tuesday, reports CBS.

    According to a statement from Arcadia Police Department, officers were dispatched to The Shops at Santa Anita mall, located in the 400 block of S. Baldwin Avenue, just after 1:10 p.m. after learning that multiple suspects were stealing from the department store. 

    Investigators believe that at least five suspects entered the store and made off with multiple boxed sets of perfume before running from the area. They reportedly fled in a black, four-door sedan. The video from inside the store shows the suspects, all of whom had their faces and heads covered, placing the stolen goods into bags.

    Nigerian Businesswoman Allegedly Abandoned Husband, Absconds With Their Children and His Properties

    Daily Post Reports, Edward Ogochukwu 44, was, on tuesday, arraigned before an Upper Area Court Gwagwalada in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, for allegedly abandoning her husband and absconding with his children and properties.
    The police charged Ogochukwu, who resides in Dagiri Gwagwalada, Abuja, with abandonment of spouse and theft. Abdullahi Tanko the Proseution Counsel, told the court that the matter was reported at Gwagwalada police station by one Mr Tony Umegborodu on July 28 2023.

    Tanko said the complainant had, on July 27, upon his return from his brother’s house, discovered that his wife (defendant) had taken away his properties at home.
    He said the defendant made away with chairs and kitchen utensils (values yet unknown), an Itel cell phone, valued at N36,000 and cash of N850,000. He further stated that the defendant also left with their children to an unknown destination.
    The offences contravene the provisions of Section 16 of Violence Against Persons (VAP) Act and Section 287 of the Penal Code. The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against her.
    The Judge, Abdullahi Abdulkarim, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N50,000, with one reasonable surety in like sum.
    Abdulkarim said the surety must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and adjourned the matter till Sept. 28 for hearing, NAN.

    3 TSA Agents Arrested For Allegedly Stealing Cash From Passengers At A Miami International Airport Security Checkpoint

    Three TSA agents are accused of conspiring together to steal money from passengers at a security checkpoint at the Miami International Airport, Insider reports. 

    After an investigation was called for by the federal security director for law enforcement at MIA, police uncovered the three culprits. Elizabeth Fuster, 22, Labarrius Williams, 33, and 20-year-old Josue Gonzalez were arrested Thursday on charges of

    “organized schemes to defraud,”

    reports reveal. 

    After multiple reports of theft coming out of Checkpoint E, detectives launched an investigation into the matter. According to the outlet, surveillance footage captured the three TSA agents plotting to distract passengers during security screenings while they steal money from their luggage.

    In one of the surveillance videos the three agents reportedly made off with $600 they took from a passenger’s wallet during a security screening. Along with

    “several”

    other incidents showing them committing theft, the outlet reported.

    Fuster and Gonzalez waived their rights during an interview at the TSA Command Center and admitted to their actions in written statements. Williams however, decided to not waive his rights and declined to speak, according to WFOR-TV.

    “The Transportation Security Administration holds its Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) to the highest professional and ethical standards and has no tolerance for misconduct in the workplace,”

    the statement read.

    “We actively and aggressively investigated these allegations of misconduct and presented our findings to MDPD, and are working closely with them. Any employee who fails to meet our fundamental ethical standards is held accountable.”

    NYC Firefighter Charged For Stealing Credit Card From Dead Man and Attempting To Use It To Buy Airpods, Groceries and Gas

    An FDNY firefighter has been indicted for stealing credit cards from a dead patient and going on a shopping spree with them, NY Post reported. 

    The suspect, 33-year-old Sylus McKenzie, of the Bronx, allegedly attempted to purchase AirPods at Target and several items at a Food Bazaar supermarket and Sunoco gas station, according to authorities.

    The disturbing events occurred on Jan. 11, 2021, when McKenzie responded to a 911 call about an unresponsive man in Manhattan. The resident was pronounced dead at the scene, the DA said in a press release. McKenzie took the opportunity to steal the dead man’s credit cards while other first responders were sealing the home. 

    Prosecutors allege that McKenzie went the next morning, between 9 and 11 a.m., going to different stores attempting to use the victim’s cards. Trying to spend a total amount of $1,123.21, authorities said.

    McKenzie was indicted last week on several charges including

    “grand larceny, attempted identity theft, criminal impersonation, and official misconduct,”

    reports reveal. He had been working for the FDNY for four years prior to his arrest. 

    “The defendant, a firefighter in the New York City Fire Department, allegedly stole an American Express card and a Mastercard while responding to a 911 call at the Manhattan home of a patient who died,’’

    Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark said in the statement.

    “A day later, the defendant allegedly went to various stores in the Bronx and made purchases using the stolen cards… These alleged actions are reprehensible, even more so because he is a member of the city’s Bravest and violated the public trust.”

    23-Year-Old Woman Arrested After Breaking Into Closed Restaurant and Making Salad, Reports Say

    A woman, Callie Elizabeth Thweatt, 23, has been apprehended after she was accused of breaking into a Georgia restaurant that was closed. According to WSB-TV, the incident occurred on Saturday at 1:55 a.m. A warrant attained by Channel 2 says that officials were called to the restaurant, Harvest Moon Cafe, regarding a woman who went into the store. 

    When the 23-year-old entered the store she searched through food coolers. She then went on to make a salad that was reportedly worth $500 and touched other food entities with her hands, causing those ingredients to go to waste.

    Thweatt was later charged with theft by taking. 

    Officials haven’t disclosed what she put in the salad.

    Texas Police Arrested 8 People During an Attempted ATM Theft, Suspects Allegedly Responsible for Over 50 ATM Burglaries

    Texas police busted eight people who were reportedly in the middle of stealing an ATM from a 7-Eleven in Denton, Texas. The suspects are accused of burglarizing more than 50 ATMs in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, according to Fox News

    Detectives from the Plano Police Department said they received leads earlier this week about several ATM heists in the city. During a previous burglary, suspects allegedly crashed a stolen truck into a convenience store, smashed out the windows, wrapped a chain around the ATM, and dragged it out of the store.

    On June 1 around 6 a.m., investigators and members of the SWAT apprehended the eight suspects as they were stealing an ATM from a 7-Eleven. Dewayne Turner, 29, of Dallas; Cortaveya Jean Jackson, 25, of Mesquite; Danaijay Jacoby Derrett, 24, of Dallas; Dominique Marquis Childress, 27, of Dallas; Joseph George Milton Turner, 29 – Dallas; Leroy Alvin Walls, 26, of Dallas; Louis Edward Coleman, 37, of DeSoto; and Marlon Briscoe, 24 were all charged with second-degree felony theft of an ATM.

    Thieves Stole Over $13K Worth Of Sneakers From Stole, Officials Say ‘Shoes From Only The Right Foot Have Been Stolen’

    According to BBC, three people broke into a shoe shop in the central Peruvian city of Huancayo and robbed the store of over 200 sneakers. The owner of the store said the thieves managed to escape with over $13,000 worth of shoes. Reports added that, surprisingly, they left with over $13,000 worth of shoes for the right foot only.

    Footage showed the thieves destroying the padlocks, which allowed them to enter the store. They utilized a tricycle to take the shoes. Chief Eduan Díaz told a news outlet,

    “We have gathered evidence at the scene… The unusual thing about this robbery is that shoes from only the right foot have been stolen.” 

    “With the footage and the fingerprints, we will be able to locate those individuals,”

    he added.

    A Florida man has been arrested after kidnapping and raping a DoorDash driver, and then opening fire on her family when they attempted to rescue her, Law And Crime reported.

    On April 18th, at around 11 P.M., Joseph Killins held the victim at gunpoint and made her drive to his apartment, where he forced himself onto her. While she was there, the victim’s family checked her cellphone location and rushed to find her.

    “The victim’s family, who had been tracking her phone, arrived and rescued her from the car,” a member of the Tampa Bay Police Department explained. “Killins responded by firing multiple times.”

    The next day, Killins attacked a woman in the same apartment complex. He punched her multiple times in the face, threw her into the ground, and then took off with her backpack.

    On April 21st, investigators were able to locate Killins at the Tampa Inn, where he was immediately arrested. For the first case, Killins has been charged with armed kidnapping, robbery with a firearm, armed sexual battery, and aggravated battery with a weapon. In the second case, the suspect has been charged with robbery and assault. He is now being held at the Orient Road Jail.

    “This criminal is now off the streets thanks to the tireless efforts of every Tampa Police Department employee and the assistance provided by members of our community,” Interim Chief Lee Bercaw said in a statement. “My thoughts remain with the victims. I hope this arrest brings them a sense of comfort knowing that he will now face justice for the crimes he chose to commit.”

    Tennessee Man Accused Of Pulling Friend In Wheelchair Onto Floor And Stealing $30 From Purse

    A Tennessee man is now in police custody after pulling his friend out of her wheelchair and stealing money from her purse, Action News 5 reports.

    On April 13th, deputies from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office were notified about a robbery at a Millington Inn. When they arrived, the victim explained that Dylan Landrum, a friend of hers, had come to her motel room to ask for money. When she refused, the 31-year-old pulled her out of her wheelchair by her leg, and threw her onto the floor. He then began rummaging through her purse, grabbed $30 in cash along with her I.D., and fled. The victim, who uses a wheelchair due to having one leg, was left on the floor.

    Landrum was located shortly after being reported to police, and was arrested. The suspect has been charged with robbery, but was then released from jail without having to pay bond. He is now scheduled to appear in court next week.

    Authorities Search For Man That Escaped Jail By Impersonating Inmate Due For Release

    Washington state authorities are still attempting to locate a man who escaped a correctional facility by impersonating another inmate who was due to be released, Newsweek reported.

    On Monday, April 17th, Brian Francisco Roman escaped from the Cowlitz County Jail. When a corrections officer called for the inmate who was due to be released, the 26-year-old approached them instead, and left to be processed out of custody. Roman then received property belonging to the other inmate, signed paperwork by forging the inmate’s name, and left. Staff members didn’t realize their mistake until the inmate that was meant for release asked when he would be leaving.

    Local law enforcement are now searching for Roman in cities and town surrounding the facility. Authorities say he was last seen wearing a blue hoodie, a black shirt, gray sweatpants, and brown slippers. He is now wanted for charges of second-degree escape, first-degree criminal impersonation, forgery, second-degree theft, and third-degree theft.
