Sadly, 22 people were hurt and at least one person was murdered after shots began to fire in the early hours of Sunday morning amid a Juneteenth celebration in the
“Chicago suburb of Willowbrook,”
reports the New York Post.
Nearly 200 young adults and teens were assembled in a parking lot in celebration of Juneteenth when several shots were fired around 12:30 a.m., reports WSL-TV. A witness, Markeshia Avery said,
“It was supposed to be like a Juneteenth celebration; we just started hearing shooting, so we dropped down until they stopped. They just kept going. After that, we literally scattered away.”
