Investigators in Florida discovered that a 11-year-old girl at a middle school planned to kidnap and harm a girl who flirted with her boyfriend. The suspect was found in possession of a 5-inch knife and now faces felony charges, per the Miami Herald

On Wednesday, Feb. 7, the police apprehended the minor at Murdock Middle School in Port Charlotte, which is close to 100 miles southeast of Tampa.

According to the sheriff’s office,

“A School Resource Officer … was alerted to a notebook a student left behind in class, which detailed a plan to harm another student.”

“As the deputy was questioning (the owner), she confessed to the notebook being hers and stated that she planned on killing another female student due to that female flirting with (her) boyfriend,”

the statement continued.

Officials found a 5-inch steak knife in the girl’s backpack amid a search. Charlotte County investigators were called to the school and discovered that the revenge agenda had been told to another student back on Jan. 29.

“A witness provided a sworn recorded statement, saying (the suspect) showed her the notes saying how she wanted to kidnap somebody and kill them and their family…. The witness stated (the intended victim) is flirting with everybody’s boyfriend and is causing a lot of trouble in school,”

the sheriff’s office continued.

The suspect confronted the target at the school and had to be physically restrained by a witness. The girl was apprehended and charged with

“bringing a weapon to school and [making a] written threat to kill.”
