According to officials, an 18-year-old named Kelvi Latrice McCray was tragically killed by her former boyfriend, Keisean Woodrow Shaw, 19, while she was on FaceTime with friends. At the time of the shooting, Shaw was being sought out by officials after threatening McCray at gunpoint the day prior. He was charged with first-degree murder; however, later died due to shooting himself following the tragic incident, per the New York Post

While having dinner and chatting with 3 friends on FaceTime, McCray was tragically shot by Shaw. The witness on FaceTime identified him as the shooter. Despite their breakup, Shaw continued to live with McCray due to a lack of alternatives.

McCray had called the police to report that Shaw

“threatened her with a gun, choked her, and kept her against her will” the day before the shooting. Shaw was then issued a warrant on charges of aggravated assault and domestic battery. “A countywide alert was issued to locate Shaw,”

reports The Post.

Mike Jachles, a police spokesman informed CBS 12,

“We had him at Gaines Park, he then fled, took off, led us on a chase for almost five miles. We had to terminate that chase because it was just unsafe. He was on our radar.”

“It’s just heartbreaking an 18-year-old was killed as a result of domestic violence,”

the spokesman went on to say.

Ricky Aiken, McCray’s uncle, remembered the 18-year-old as a

“go-getter.”

“Kelvi was a go-getter, she had an entrepreneurial spirit about her, she was as beautiful as she was smart… I never would have thought this would happen,”

the distraught uncle expressed.

Officials say her ex-boyfriend was angry about the breakup.
