Shields’ Biopic Is Widely Acclaimed
Since its release on Christmas Day, Claressa Shields’ biopic has garnered wide acclaim and praise. Fire Inside, formerly named Flint Strong, tells how Shields escaped her impoverished Flint, Michigan, home by overcoming several obstacles. It also details how the mixed martial artist became the first American woman to win gold in the Olympics at 17 and is one of the most decorated female boxers in history.
Claressa Shields’ biopic has been rated highly on Rotten Tomatoes, and Google is being compared to Million Dollar Baby. The latter is another female-led boxing drama that won several awards two decades ago. Athletes, including Regis Progais and Dawn Stanley, have also praised Fire Inside and congratulated Shields.
