Mother Forced To Rob Bank To Save Kidnapped Daughter Shares Her Story Over Twenty Years Later

On the night of November 21st, in the year 2000, a masked man and woman entered the home of Michelle Renee in San Diego County, California. After binding her and her 7-year-old daughter, Breea, with duct tape, and with guns at their heads, the duo explained what they wanted.

“It was very much that mind control thing that they were doing, that, ‘we know everything about you,’” Renee said in an interview with CBS. They told her that they knew her day-to-day routine, and that she was a branch manager at a nearby bank. “You’re gonna rob the bank for us,” she remembers them telling her. “Or you will die, your daughter will go first.”

The following morning, Renee walked out of the bank with $360,000. After handing the money over to the masked couple, she ran back to her home, terrified about what she may find. “I don’t know if Breea’s gonna be there,” Renee thought. “I don’t know if she’s gonna be alive when I get there.”

Fortunately, Breea was there when Renee returned to her home. After a bomb squad examined the “dynamite,” they determined that they had been fake- made out of two broomstick handles that were painted and taped together to look like dynamite. Christopher Butler and his fiancée Lisa Ramirez, were later arrested for kidnapping and bank robbery.

In June, 2002, the suspects were tried together in two trials. Despite Ramirez previously confessing to the crime on camera, the judge ruled it inadmissible in court. The defendant’s lawyer then attacked Renee’s credibility, suggesting she was somehow involved. “They treated me like a criminal,” Renee explained. “They were trying to paint me as somebody that was irresponsible.” After five days of deliberation, the jury found Butler guilty of the robbery and kidnapping, but Ramirez was not, and left a free woman.

In an interview with Tracy Smith, Renee will be sharing her story on CBS’ “48 Hours,” on February 11th at 10/9c, and streaming on Paramount+.

Missing Girl Found In Closet Over A Year Later, Pregnant And Scared

The U.S. Marshals Service Missing Child Unit successfully located a critically endangered 14-year-old girl, after she was reported missing 17 months ago, The Detroit Free Press reported.

In September of 2021, a middle schooler was reported missing in St. Clair County, Michigan. More than a year later, the girl was found inside of a closet in a home in Port Huron, on a tip that she had been sexually trafficked. Initially, the homeowners denied that she was there, but after receiving a search warrant, the missing teen was found.

“Information was that she may be being trafficked. There was some evidence of sexual abuse,” said Deputy U.S. Marshal Robert Watson. “She’d been missing since September 2021, so I got the case (Tuesday), began working on it immediately, and we recovered her about 5:30 that same day.”

The teenager told police that she had been in the house for one night, and had previously been “bouncing around” between different locations in Port Huron and Detroit. She was then taken to a nearby hospital, where it was discovered she was pregnant. “She was crying, ”Watson said. “She didn’t know where she was going to go. She was pretty terrified. And she was afraid of losing her baby.”

Authorities are now pursuing parental kidnapping charges against the girl’s biological mother, who lost custody of her daughter to the teen’s father. After being seen by medical professionals, the girl has been reunited with him.

After announcing the missing girl was found, Watson became emotional and explained how locating missing children is one of the most rewarding parts of his job. “Sometimes I break down in tears when I find these kids, because it means a lot,” he said. “I’m a parent myself, and I can’t imagine if I were in one of these folks’ shoes, and I didn’t know where my kids were.”

Second Man Wanted After Jersey Man Was Arrested For Death Of Estranged Wife

On Tuesday, February 7th, officers from the Jersey City Police Department welfare check at the house of Luz Hernandez, after she was reported missing when she didn’t arrive for work. While searching for her, police found the teacher and mother of three in a shallow grave, just miles away from her home, Law And Crime reported.

An autopsy report later revealed that Hernandez died by blunt force trauma and compressions to the neck. Officials believe that she was hit in the head with a heavy object, and then strangled with a cord.

Hernandez’ estranged husband, Cesar Santana, was located and arrested in Florida. He is now awaiting extradition to New Jersey. Santana’s friend, Leiner Miranda Lopez, is currently being sought out by police in connection to the murder, and a warrant for his arrest has been issued.

The school where Hernandez taught was closed on Wednesday in order to allow staff and students to grieve. Outside of her home, friends and family have placed candles, balloons, and posters.

“She was a really good mother,” her cousin said. “She was kind- oh, my God. She was a beautiful person. We are going to miss her so much. I can not speak, it’s unbelievable.”

Principal And Gym Teacher Fired After Taking Videos Of Themselves Having Sex In School Bathroom

Two Georgia educators have been fired after an investigation confirmed claims of sexual misconduct on school property, Fox News confirmed.

According to a six-page report released by the Banks County Board of Education, gym teacher Dylan Charles has been in a sexual relationship with the school’s principal, Dr. Dana Simmons for years. The affair, that Dr. Simmons referred to as an “inappropriate friendship,” occurred both on and off campus of Banks County Elementary School.

Initially, Dr. Simmons denied that any sexual misconduct had occurred on school property, but video footage from Charles’ phone did not corroborate with her claims. Charles’ wife, a third grade teacher at the school, would occasionally arrange and film the sex acts between Simmons and her husband. She told investigators that the now former principal “pressured her to allow her to have sex with her husband” in order to advance their careers.

A former attendance clerk later came forward, after learning about the incident, and told investigators that Dr. Simmons had approached her about joining a “group of swingers,” but she declined. Another teacher had allegedly left the school district for similar reasons, noting that the principal’s behavior was “unprofessional.”

“It should have never happened,” said the president of the Georgia Federation of Teachers. “It shows poor judgment, it shows a lack of good character, and it also shows a lack of respect for the taxpayer’s property.”

All three involved are no longer listed as Banks County employees.
