Elderly Sex Offender Arrested After Dressing Up As Elmo At Utah Farmers Market

A 74-year-old registered sex offender has been released from police custody after it was discovered that he had been taking part in children’s activities at a farmers market 30 miles south of Salt Lake City, Law And Crime reports.

Earlier this month, detectives from the Utah County Sheriff’s Office began investigating Lehi Farmers Market, which was reported to be operating in violation of Utah County code and zoning ordinances. According to police, many of the activities there are “oriented toward children,” including a petting zoo, rides on trailers towed by a tractor, and “candy drops” from a helicopter.

During the investigation, detectives discovered that Larry Neff Jarvis, a registered sex offender, was one of the people operating the market. Jarvis was convicted of two counts of attempted sexual assault in 1995, and has been listed on the Sex Offender Registry since.

Despite his last known residence being in Saratoga Springs, Jarvis has not lived there for at least the last three months. State law requires those in the registry to update their address within three days of relocating, which he has failed to do. Investigators say that Jarvis can be seen on social media dressed as Elmo from the show “Sesame Street,” interacting with multiple children.

On April 14th, detectives with the Special Victims Unit went to the property Jarvis has been living at in violation of state law and arrested him. He was charged with one count of failing to update his sex offender registry address and one count of sex offender violation in a protected area. He was released less than two hours later on a $5,000 bond.

A Connecticut man has been arrested after confessing to killing his wife and sending photos of her body to her “new boyfriend,” Law And Crime reports.

On April 16th, at around 3:20 P.M., Pedro Grajalez entered Hartford Police Department’s headquarters and told a front desk officer that he had stabbed his wife to death. According to police documents, the 52-year-old then took out his phone, showed him photos he had taken of a stabbed woman, and stated that her body was in a vehicle just outside of the building.

After detaining Grajalez, the officer located the vehicle and discovered 57-year-old Nilda Rivera alive, but unresponsive. She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where she later succumbed to her wounds. Medical professionals who attempted to save Rivera say she “sustained upwards of twenty-five puncture wounds to her chest, head, face, and arms.”

When investigators asked Grajalez what led him to kill his wife, the suspect explained that he had recently discovered that Rivera was having an affair with another man. He claims that after stabbing her, he sent a photo of the aftermath to her “new boyfriend” as revenge.

Grajalez has since been charged with one count of murder, and is being held on a $3 million bond. He is scheduled to reappear in court on May 15th.

Four people have died and eleven people have been hospitalized after starving themselves in order to see Jesus, The Standard reported.

On Thursday, police in Nairobi, Kenya received multiple reports about a group of “ignorant citizens who were starving to death in pretext to meet Jesus after being brainwashed by suspect Makenzie Nthenge, a pastor of Good News International Church.” Nthenge allegedly instructed his devout followers to go without food and water to avoid “apocalyptic damnation” and be visited by Jesus Christ himself.
